Despite spending roughly $19,000 on my wife's engagement rings at Brinkhaus, not even the slightest effort to help when I enquired about a replacement for my inexpensive wedding band. Apparently if there isn't enough money in it for them they just won't bother. Simple request really, can you tell me precisely what I ordered for my band since I have recently lost it, and what would the replacement cost be? This message sent by email (1st), phone call - where I waited on hold and then the line just went dead (2nd), and 3rd via the request page on their website. It has now been three weeks since the original request. I suppose there isn't much markup in a $400 tungsten carbide band, which you can buy online for about $20-30 for identical quality. But they were sure happy to get $19k for those wedding bands! Thanks Brinkhaus, greatly appreciate the customer service. BL read more

First off. This place is disgustingly pretentious. Signs on the door might as well say "If you don't have a 6 figure income, we won't let you in!" Experienced that yesterday. Have been saving to buy a special someone a watch they've had their eye on. Figured I would get it now and gift it for Christmas. Walked up to the door, buzzed the buzzer. No response. Pressed it again. No response. Pressed it a third time and this super douchey security guy swings the door open and snarls "Can I help you?" In the most condescending tone. I explain what I want, and attempt to walk in. He raises an arm and says "No". No reasoning, no explanation. I ask him why. He replied "Do you not understand me? I said no." And slams the door. Normally I'd be the guy ringing the bell till I got in, but this time I could've cared less. Too good to let me in, you've lost my business. Thanks for nothing. Went to Birks and got a different watch, without the garbage attitude. Lady at Birks told me you'd likely be closing soon as there's talks of a condo tower going up where your pretentious little store is. Can't say it'll be a loss. read more

I went to Brinkhaus with the intent on purchasing a Panerai watch. While the store is gorgeous - really; you should see it, I was not impressed at all with the experience with the associate. Also, the stock was limited; the particular watch I was looking for was not in stock (and to get it in to even see it a large, non-refundable deposit was required). So if I paid the deposit and wasn't in love with the watch, I'd have to buy something else in-store. Shady, for such a high-end place. The associate didn't know enough about the line to answer most of the questions leading to a negative shopping experience. Compared to shopping for watches at both Tiffany & Co and at Calgary Jewellers (both of whom were 5-star worthy), this was a huge disappointment. The intent to purchase a watch upon arrival followed by wanting to leave without was incredibly disappointing. read more

I wanted to buy my now fiancée an engagement ring back in October/November. I toyed with the idea of buying my own diamond and having a jeweler set it but was uncertain at that point. We were looking for a simple yet elegant solitaire with a high-end quality diamond. We came across Brinkhaus - the third store we had visited - through our search of high-end jewellers. When we entered the store we were greeted by a very friendly female sales representative. She was very knowledgeable on what we were looking for and presented us with some great options. She was very smooth when focusing on my fiancée needs and desires, going as far as complimenting her skin, hands etc. explaining what would be the best setting based on her hands/skin type. She definitely sold her on the ring we were looking for! After understanding what she was looking for, we sent my fiancée upstairs so myself and the sales agent could talk "business". We discussed a quote for the ring to which I mentioned the option of bringing in my own diamond. The tone and feel of the conversation changed immediately. The sales rep became rude, cold and condescending. She questioned where I had planned to get the diamond. I did not mention the shop but did say that the person we were potentially purchasing the diamond was a certified gemologist. She continued by asking the name of the gemologist (claiming that she basically knew all the gemologists in the city) likely with the intention of questioning their credentials. I thought that was very unprofessional. She said that they would ultimately agree to set the diamond if I did decide to buy the diamond elsewhere (At that point, I was already a hard no to going with Brinkhaus). Furthermore, she was sure to mention at that point that the quoted price attached to the setting would now go up if I did go with my own diamond. I decided to go back to the basics after this experience. After another 40 hrs of self educating research (understanding the 4 C's of diamonds, the different diamond certifiers (EGL, GIA, AGS), the various on-line reliable retailers available) I came across a beautiful GIA diamond for probably $3k to $4k less than what Brinkhaus was able to supply with the same characteristics that we were looking for. I also came across a local jewelry design shop that was happy to work with my purchased diamond to set it. I sat down with their staff and designed the ring I was looking for using a state of the art computer design application. Besides that, they were with me step by step through the entire process from the design/purchase of the setting to the date of the proposal. Overall - If you are looking for a simple,elegant solitaire diamond ring do not go with a "high-end" jeweler. With a few hours to spare you can build something that has outstanding value while saving thousands of dollars. read more

This is the place to buy a watch. Of all the high end shops in Alberta this is the best most knowledgeable place to purchase. i went in here after visiting places in Edmonton and two others in Calgary, my Wife Child and myself were greeted warmly and offered a beverage. We were not judged by our casual clothes we were wearing that day like other places had and i was able to look at anything i wanted including the Patek Phillipes on display. I was offered decent discounts on anything i was looking at and found the experience comforting in all aspects. Ive been back several times and it has been the same every single time. To note i have purchased a piece here recently and wouldn't hesitate to welcome my friends and family to go there as well read more

Personal Service.Promise.Deliver. I was on the prowl for a new watch - not just a watch but a WATCH. So, while in Seattle I took a close look at an Omega/Speedmaster/Broad Arrow and found my watch. Upon arriving home I found three stores, Brinkhaus included, which were official dealers. Over one week I proceeded to find store that might have the exact model that I desired (needed) - no luck. Omega dealers offer a special order which allows them to access the model in Canada and if not available they go direct to Switzerland. Brinkhaus was the ONLY store that offered a commercial arrangement which allowed equality (small deposit) while all others (JV and CJ) wanted a king's ransom as deposit and provided plenty of 'tude. The man that brought it all together at Brinkhaus was DEVEN - he listened, investigated and delivered as promised. DEVEN delivered the watch in three weeks opposed to the original 4-6 stated by the "other two" shops. Give him a call you will not be disappointed AND the store is a funky old red brick house on Sixth Ave. & 8th Street SW that has been home to Brinkhaus since 1977. read more

There is no expectation to make a quick purchase, nor is there any aloofness or snotty attitudes here. I have made 2 purchases here, and will be making a few more. I bought a Panerai watch from Sondra at Brinkhaus. The original watch I purchased had some "issues", Sondra was my advocate with the brand and helped me get a new watch... which I now LOVE (Panerai 0005) !!! I work in a field where customer service is paramount, thus feel qualified to judge the experience objectively. Sondra did everything humanly possible to make my experience amazing ... and it worked ! If for some reason I find a pile of money and happen to buy another high-end watch.... I've always wanted a Montblanc pen, and I was overdue for a treat. Deven was very helpful and took wonderful care of me. Dealing with the staff at Brinkhaus is always a delight. They are incredibly knowledgeable, polite, and professional. While I was browsing their watches, i noticed a very nice two-tone Rolex Submariner. Perhaps in a few more years I'll need another treat. Best jeweler in town from watches to diamonds. Everyone at Brinkhaus from the security guard to the sales team are always willing to go above and beyond to deliver the best customer service. Deven, Brad and Tom are the go to guys at Brinkhaus with emphasis in building relationships instead of pushing sales. I travel quiet a bit and visited many jewelers in North America, Brinkhaus is still my go to store. The staffs are patient, very knowledge, friendly and above all else passionate about the products they are selling. 2 thumbs way up! read more
