It's great to walk up to this shop and check out some of the wares as you wait for your drink. It is on a bit of the cozier side so get here early if you plan on co-working at this space. I get the Ohio Maple Latte or the Honey Vanilla Latte warm or iced with almond milk. They don't make them sweet. You can still taste their wonderful coffee! Love the personality of Brioso! When visiting new cities I always seek out local roasters and I'm really glad I found this one! When choosing I always look for thoughtfully sourced single origins and blends, and Brioso delivered. If you know coffee you can tell what Brioso is doing and appreciate it deep down in your black coffee loving soul, but for anyone newer to coffee, this is an absolutely fantastic place because they present their coffees in a way that is fun, approachable and easily understood! I perused the retail roast selections on my way in and scoped out the pour over choices deciding to try their "curiosities" selection, a black diamond natural process, and the natural Kenyan as well. Both were delicious but I wish I had tried the Kenyan first and then the curiosity because my palate was dominated by the bigger flavors of the first cup. My husband and I were in the area and decided to check out Brioso. He has been to the other location before, but I have never been. They were roasting beans for all to see when we entered! It was very cool to witness. I ordered the Ohio Maple latte and he ordered the honey vanilla. As a lover of sweet coffee, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of sweetness in my latte. His latte was much sweeter and more pleasant to me. I would definitely try a different flavor next time. Brioso Coffee (on Long Street) is quite possibly my favorite place to go in Columbus. The coffee has always been excellent and their rotating seasonal menu is definitely something to try if you can. The regular/full time menu is full of great choices as well. The staff is always there to say hello and happy to get you going with coffee. Very polite, courteous, and professional. If you are lucky, you get to watch the roaster going and smell the fresh beans as they come out to cool. They have bagged coffee available as well as you can order from their large Cambro containers full of fresh stuff if you want something you don't see already on the shelf. Cups, mugs, coffee gear for grinding and making pour overs, stickers, shirts, sweatshirts etc available as well. The pour over, made with the same beans, was delicate and tea-like with backgrounded fruit notes. The space is quite nice. Plenty of seating, good light, with music at a low volume so folks can talk. I had been here once before and had an overall good experience. Today, not so much. Love the ambiance and vibe, as there are lots of tables and cute decor. However, I felt like the staff was quite impatient and short with me while I was ordering today. Then I received my latte with coffee grounds and other bits in it -- yuck. I appreciate the safety measures at this location. I've visited this "new" location a bit more. I used to frequent the only downtown location and was excited to see this second location open up. My go-to warm drink is the honey latte. I also really enjoy an iced latte. The sweet drinks are balanced with the espresso and not overly sweet. Brioso limits the number of customers in the store, uses stickers to promote distancing and someone takes your order to accept payment from a distance. Ask to add gratuity so it can be adjusted if you don't have cash to tip. After you order and pay, you'll step through the hallway to the other side of the shop for order pickup. I came on a Friday past 2 and it wasn't busy at all. I saw some people studying or in a meeting. As we sat, I saw more young adults come in to study or do a grab and go. I ordered the lavender honey latte. Yum! They've got one of the best lavender lattes in the city! It was fantastic! My friend tried the iced mocha latte. It had a weird taste at first but tasted better towards the end. My other friend got the Toucan Sam, which is earl grey tea with milk and rose syrup. It was slightly frothy and tasted more like early grey than rose. They bring the drinks right out to ya! The baristas here are nice! And they're hipster. They've got free samples of coffee and if you need water, be sure to ask. You can also buy coffee beans here and merch. They also placed a good selection of alternative music. I like this Brioso better than the other location. It's much easier to find parking since there's a paid lot right next to it or you can find parallel parking pretty easily. read more

I've been meaning to check out Brioso and I finally made it a point to stop by for a day of co-working. I arrived around 9:30 on a Monday morning and was able to find street parking outside very easily. I walked in to a rather chill atmosphere as it wasn't crazy busy. The space was big, open, and very inviting. I walked up to the counter to order my coffee drink and the young lady running the shop was super sweet. She filled me in on their milk alternatives and offered some suggestions. Side note - coffee shops in Columbus tend to only offer almond milk. I wish this fascination with almond milk would go away. I feel like it messes with the flavor of the coffee too much. Anyways, I went with their seasonal Snow Day Latte (with almond milk, of course) and began looking for a spot to get settled into for the morning. They have tons of tables, short and tall, and a few comfy lounge chairs. There is a lot of natural light due to the giant windows at the front of the building and I love how the roastery is right there in the open. The aromas were fun to experience during my stay. It didn't take long for my drink to be prepared and it was delivered to my seat, so sweet of them! It was delicious and definitely got me into work mode. Free wi-fi, clean restrooms, cheap street parking, damn. I can't believe it took me this long to get here. I will absolutely be back! read more

Brioso is yet another place in Columbus for coffee. It's literally a few feet from another. Seriously you can't go a few blocks without finding another locally owned coffee place. It's okay. That's better than all these being Starbucks. The main thing here is coffee of course. It has lots of kinds. There's the usual stuff such as cappuccinos and lattes. It makes a point of how they have such fresh beans. They're on display right in front of you. I had the maple latte. It's about $3.50 for the medium. They have almond milk for the non dairy options. Food is limited only to bagels. There's the common flavors like the everything, poppyseed, and sesame. It has some benefits over the Gay Street location. Parking is better. I visited Brioso on a Saturday morning as part of trip on the Columbus Coffee Experience coffee trail. Coffee. I ordered a pour over of one of the coffees on the menu. I was amazed at the fruity aroma of this coffee. I couldn't stop smelling the aroma's they were so good. And the taste of the coffee was just as good as the aromas. It had a clean finish and pleasant after taste. I talked to the gentleman who took my order about the coffee, and he just happened to be the owner of the store. He told me about the farmer from whom the coffee originated and about his relationship with the coffee farmer. Brioso is serious about coffee. They have a Geisen coffee roaster in the shop. Their other roasting and coffee equipment used for roasting and training is part of the coffee shop floor. The high ceilings, brick walls, and decor make Brioso a cool looking shop. The seating is a little limited. What I loved about Brioso is their sustained relationship with the coffee farmers, dedication to roasting and brewing excellent coffee and personable customer service. read more

I'm not sure why we hadn't checked out Brioso yet, given our penchant for trying all the coffee places in Columbus, but here we are. We'd actually had their coffee from elsewhere in the past, but we were very happy with the drinks we got right from the source. I had a honey vanilla latte, and was pleased that it wasn't overly sweet, but just sweet enough. The balance of coffee to flavor was perfect. My girlfriend had an iced rose vanilla latte, which isn't her usual go-to either, and other than having to sweeten it a bit, she was also quite impressed, and we agreed that we'd go back soon. Amazing spot for pourovers and really artisan coffee. I came here for the first time a few weeks ago and the space is a lot larger than I was expecting. There are a ton of outlets too (which is a plus for me since I typically will bring my laptop) and a ton of seating. It's extremely clean and a pretty typical Columbus coffee shop with the exposed brick wall. I love that they roast their own beans here. The owner was actually roasting on the day we were in too and talked about his roasting methods, his water extraction methods (trust me--this guy pays attention to crazy small details), and his favorite blends. They typically have 4 different beans available and a few lattes. I had the honey latte (which is delicious) and also a pourover of one of the Ethiopian blends--which was also amazing. No cream or sugar needed for this coffee! We also bought a bag of the Mexico Chiapas Mayan Harvest beans to make at home. Can't wait to try it! Staff were knowledgeable about coffee and service was fast so will definitely be back. The coffee: bad, like if you got a decent coffee bean and roasted it poorly and then poured too much water on it. The service: surly and glowering. The environment: overly political and hostile. Got the chance to stop in to the new Brioso with my friend Jayme to work for a few hours. The coffee (The Snow Day Latte tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch) was a great start to my morning, along with a everything bagel! I hopped to and began to set up my work space for the next few hours and the barista brought the drink and bagel over to me, what service is that! I was prepared to hop up and get in before I sat in to work. When you first walk in there are a few long tables, and I think they fit 6-8 people and are a bit lower to the ground. Once you order, if you go around the corner behind you, there are a few high tables and two very comfortable armchairs that look out the windows on to Long Street. I did a few hours of work in the armchairs before getting a hot cider (another delicious choice) and moving to the high tables to finish out my last few hours of work. The only thing that might have made the time working a little better was if the bar chairs at the high tables had backs, but it wasn't a make or break situation. Brioso was such a cute experience! I stopped by and got some Anyway You Spice It! hot cider with chai and cinnamon. It was the perfect temperature for cider and amazingly spiced - highly recommend! Also grabbed a toasted bagel and cream cheese for only 1.50! I loved the setup and vibe, however the roasting was a bit loud (obviously) so I wouldn't recommend having meetings here - but it's a great place to study or get some work done alone with some headphones! Their coffee is fine. I understand the commitment to quality and respect of ingredients. However, the staff is rude, pretentious, and condescending which taints the taste of any mediocre coffee drink they claim is their gift from God. One of the baristas continued to belittle me for ordering a cold brew coffee in the winter after finding they had none upon charging me for it. He said "in a coffee shop this nice you should really asked if we have something before you order it because we customize our offerings based on the season. This isn't a Starbucks." Well maybe they should take it off your menu then. He also stated "In a coffee shop this nice (yes he repeated), we tell you what is best for you. You wouldn't go to the doctor and tell them what to do." I was hoping this new location would improve the poor customer service from the Gay St location but this experience was worse. If you want to "enlighten" your customers and help restore quality to the coffee scene your going to need to treat your customers with alittle more respect. read more
