In my opinion, this is some of the best coffee in Grandview. Every drink I've had here is made with so much care. It's the true definition of artisan coffee. Even the sweeter drinks are never overly sweet. They somehow get the balance just right. I almost always get one of their signature lattes, and the quality is consistently excellent. Whenever I have a friend visiting from out of town, I bring them here, and they always love it too. The atmosphere is another reason I keep coming back. The inside is cozy, comfortable, and unique, there's outdoor seating for beautiful days, and when it's busy, you can also sit inside Natalie's next door. It's basically three different environments to enjoy while still getting the same great coffee. If you were to take a splash of quirky and a dollop of color and mix that into your coffee and put it into speakeasy form, voila, you'd have this hip newish coffee shop connected to Natalie's in Grandview. I discovered this spot while doomscrolling on Instagram and suggested to a coworker that we pay them a visit during an upcoming coworking day. It was an easy sell and we made our way there on a rainy Friday afternoon. The moment I walked through the door the vibrant shades of blue and pink brightened my mood and I knew we made the right choice. Their menu is really fun... literally it says, "Super Fun Coffee" on it. I'm a sucker for a good seasonal creation so I went with the "Buy Myself Flowers" with oat milk. It has an elderflower, lavender, jasmine syrup in it along with lemon and orange blossom. The floral notes certainly shined through. Not subtle either, but not too in your face. I also ordered a baklava pastry sticky bun kind of thing and oh wow, it was amazing. Honey and pistachio goodness out the wazoo. The coffee and pastry together were seriously magical. A few extra things to note... parking is available in the very back of the building. While the space is on the smaller side, they do open up Natalie's space for extra seating. They close at 2pm only to later open back up as a bar. I did have issues with the wifi while I was there and ended up needing to use my hotspot. Not a deal breaker but good to know if you're planning on bringing your laptop. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time to see if the hype is worth it.... And it definitely is! Royal Flamingo is tucked away in Natalie's Pizza and there is plenty of parking in the back. The decorations are so cute, especially as a flamingo lover. We came on a Saturday and it was pretty busy but the line moved quickly enough and they had extra seating in Natalie's (not as cute as in royal flamingo lol but I appreciate that there was plenty of seating!). I ordered the seasonal Buy Myself Flowers latte and a mushroom and leek pastry. The latte was delicious, and the syrup was the perfect amount of floral and sweet. The flowers on top were also super cute! The pastry was also delicious and I believe they are all sourced from Three Bites Bakery! This was a very unique coffee shop. I enjoyed the ambiance, it's a great place to come sit and get work done. The wifi was not working so I had to use my hotspot. Plenty of parking in the back, as well. I ordered the iced signature latte, and it was very good. Not overly sweet and the coffee flavor really shined through. $6.25 for a 10 ounce latte seems a little steep, but it took me about 2 hours to finish the cup as it was more of a sip and savor kinda drink. They have unique menu and super friendly staff! It was my first time visiting and I was so lost to what kind of coffee I should try. The staff made 3 suggestions and gave a shot glass sample of each to make the decision easier. The place is nice and cozy. They also offer some baked good though I didn't stay or try any food. They don't offer any sugar free syrups but they do offer variety of different flavor syrups as well. My cold brew was fruity and light, just like the staff explained! Such a cool little coffee shop! Love the decor! I walked in a little confused if I should have brought my baby because it just has such a mature vibe with a fun aesthetic. I thought it was nice that they have self serve water as you might wait in a long line like we did but I think it's worth it. The staff was very kind and you can tell they were working very diligently to get orders out. What an adorable coffee place! I love the vibe and the atmosphere! However I did not like the coffee I had. Just an FYI for the syrup lovers such as myself. This place doesn't really do syrups. So we tried to make me something comparable using the Brown sugar and cardamom and now I love that mix usually in like a tea but for this, it was way too bitter for me personally. I may come back and try like a regular vanilla I think they had but def do not do that combo I said if you want sweet! If you're a coffee connoisseur and love the coffee experience def come! But if you're a syrup lover who wants added espresso to wake up haha just letting ya know in advance. But love the place just had to do 3 stars for lack of syrup options. Lots of groups of people kicking it on a Saturday - reading, chatting, knitting, studying, whatever. This is not a place to come for a quick takeout coffee pickup. They are into coffee as a craft and they usually have a line. You will likely wait a bit for your order to be ready. There are a few breakfast pastry choices, but no other food served. Staff is great. As others have already pointed out, this is very STRONG coffee and the drinks are not made creamy or sweet here. Really cute coffee shop by day and the "I Like It Like That" bar by night. It's cramped in here, but it has that small business coffeeshop vibe to it that makes the small spaces more tolerable. If you're someone who loves the literal taste of coffee AND the variances of the flavors you can get into the coffee beans themselves by changing the bean preparation, you're going to love the Royal Flamingo drinks. They feel like someone who really loves coffee homebrewing was in charge of the drink's menu and bean creation. Their flavor profiles are very unique and very coffee-heavy. This isn't like a Starbucks or chain coffee latte where you're primarily slurping syrup. There's a whole lot of complex flavor within every sip at Royal Flamingo's drinks, and they're very, very coffee-forward. I'd recommend it for people who love the actual taste of coffee, but I'd just as surely say it's a bad fit for my friends who actually just love the taste of creamer. (I get most of my lattes at other competitors with "half" or "1/4th" the usual level of syrups in their flavored lattes. I made no modifications to my Royal Flamingo order, and it still was much, much less sweetened than other chains.) Getting a drink to go here took 10-ish minutes. They have adorable to-go cups, but it's not the most efficient way to gulp down coffee to sustain life in the morning. Their glassware and presentation is upscale and encourages that "sit and socialize" vibe, though, so I'd love to meet up with someone here with the shop's limited seating options. Getting into Royal Flamingo is just as weird as the evening bar; go in through the covered patio's door. There's a gigantic parking lot behind Royal Flamingo for parking, but I'll note that it was swamped on Sunday around church time. "There's nothing in here" My review may come as a shock since you might remember me coming in today & barely saying 2 words. I was honestly excited to visit your coffee shop but my bf & I had a little bad blood between us this morning & I was over it. The guy we talked to at the counter was great. It wasn't you. It was me. My review: It's good overhyped, overpriced, pretentious coffee at best. We live way over in Blacklick so we've never heard of Royal Flamingo. This was our first time. We like to try coffee shops around town & my bf saw you guys listed as one of the top places in the US. So we showed up. We got there around 11:30. There was a line out the door & around the corner. But we toughed it out in the cold for about half an hour & finally got to place our orders. We were greeted with a smile & a lot of helpful info. The line was long behind us but the guy behind the counter took his time to share menu details (again I'm sorry for my sad girl mood). He didn't rush us or seem annoyed. My bf got the Mole drink. I got the Brown Butter Cardamom Bun drink. Both hot coffees to go. During our wait I looked around. The ambiance is really cool. Almost like a funky disco speakeasy. It looks great. But I also paid attention to operations. There were 2-3 people by what I think is just 1 coffee machine. The baristas were also very charismatic, chatting up nearby customers. I think that's honestly a big reason why drinks were taking so long to come out. There was also one dude up there looking like he wasn't doing too much. I saw him grate something onto a drink once & that was about it lol. 30 or so mins of waiting later, coffee. The moment we've been waiting for. Possibly a cup of a hope for mending my low mood. But... I was let down. Pretty big honestly. The coffee: The bean itself is wonderful. I'll start there. It's everything they did after that let me down. (I'm sorry! I believe in honesty) The coffee is strong but also somehow watery/watered down. It's very thin even with the addition of cream. The added flavors were lacking big time. If you're going to advertise flavor ADD FLAVOR. Don't hold back. Just a whisper of cardamom lost in the flavor of a bold bitter bean ain't it. The coffee also wasn't hot. I'm a temperature wimp. I struggle to drink hot beverages but I was able to take this to the head as soon as I got it. We're waiting way too long to receive cold coffee with little flavor. Then the most disappointing thing for me was portion size. Again, we got it to go. The cup with just a little more than half way full. Guys. Guys. Guys. Shaaaaame. This is the biggest offense imo. I understand your in store cups are small & you're trying to match portions for to go. Get. Smaller. Cups. Don't give people $8 half full cups of cold coffee. If you want to keep the 16 oz cups fill them with 16oz of coffee. Or lower the price or get bigger in store cups. My bf handed me my cup & the first words out of my mouth were "there's nothing in here". We paid $8 for this? I've had similar cardamom drinks from Parable & Qahwah house. Qahwah being in the lead. That had incredible flavor. Overall I'm disappointed with Royal Flamingo. He's willing to return. I'm less enthused. Amazing charisma in the building but things could be better. Watch your step when you enter! There is not a sign and I almost fell right on my face. That aside, I had to come try their new ube creamsicle latte. The ube was pretty subtle, and as a sweet coffee girly, this probably wasn't the spot for me. I had to add some sweetener to my latte when I left. It could've been the orange added, but it was kinda giving soap. My husband always likes what he gets from here, which is typically just a plain latte, sometimes with an extra shot. The reviews live up to the hype! This little coffee shop is hidden in plain sight directly inside the I Like It Like That Bar. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by various amounts of flamingo decor and a beautiful coffee bar. The menu has a ton of options on it and the prices are set well for the local area. The Barista's in house were excellent at answering questions as we were in there looking for a few Christmas gifts. The seating inside was super unique, a ton of out-coves around the bar with eclectic seating throughout the small area. I would recommend the Barista Flight if this is your first visit as it encompasses many of their fantastic offerings. The cherry espresso hit the top spot on my list as it was thick, flavorful, and bursting with cherry. Popped in on a Friday morning with a couple of coffee loving friends. Royal Flamingo has such a cozy & eclectic vibe that I really enjoyed, and the staff were very friendly. I don't consider myself to be a super adventurous coffee person, but Royal Flamingo makes it easy to try new things. They have a classic menu with more familiar options and a more unique menu with fun options. I opted for a seasonal latte from the Super Fun menu. I couldn't tell you what it was, but I really enjoyed it. Typically I like sweeter drinks but the flavor profile was very balanced and I didn't feel like it needed any added sweetness. I'm from out of town, and I had some time to kill today and needed coffee! After I got past the "Where the heck am I allowed to park?" situation (just park on the street), it was a very nice experience! The atmosphere is very comfortable and definitely has a hipster lounge vibe. It's fantastic, and artsy, and I had some beadwork to do, so it was perfect. The people behind the counter were so nice and I said "Make me something creative" and it did not disappoint. It was a garden something.... Delicious! This is the single best coffee shop in Columbus (followed closely by Two Tigers Coffee and Cafe Brioso). And it's because they mirror the home experience of coffee consumption - their pour overs take time. They source beans with unique flavors. They're properly dialing in their espresso and tinkering with details because coffee can be fun and delicious and amazing and wonderful. Every time Ive entered this incredibly unique spot, the decor and charm has captured my attention; it's warm and inviting, cozy but playful. But again, this place is made by coffee lovers FOR coffee lovers. And each time I visit, I'm excited to try something new and wonderful, to see what kind of exciting flavor I'm able to get within the world of coffee.
