His first two months were with Ms. Cali, who was absolutely amazing--so kind, patient, and nurturing. She took the time to make him feel comfortable, supported him through the transition, and helped him come out of his shell. He is now with Ms. Bella who has been just as excellent of a teacher and caregiver. We are so grateful for the care and attention he received during those first few months. It was clear from the beginning that both teachers truly cared about him and wanted him to feel safe, confident, and happy at school. Watching his growth and seeing how much he now enjoys going to school has been so special for our family. We are very happy with Mills Montessori and feel fortunate to have found such a caring environment for our son.

The place has the highest median SAT scores in the state, but not the highest average, because they keep about 25% of the slots for students with "different talents". The mottos tell it all: "Head, Heart and Hands" and "A Private School with a Public Purpose"... EVERY student takes a shop class every semester, and that only makes them better students, and humans.

When I applied in 1996, the school was dark, dank and was not a warm place where you would want your kids to go. But since then they've renovated the physical building, maintained a commitment to diversity, athletics, and the arts, and really created a great balance in the student body. According to my sister, the teaching is first rate and graduates go on to great universities. When it comes to private high schools in the city, you really can't go wrong with many of the schools (University, Urban, Lick, etc.). The only school I would consider a strong alternative is Lowell, widely considered one of the finest public schools in America. But that being said, LWHS is a great place to spend four years.

My kids genuinely enjoy coming to school and taking part in the wide variety of activities offered--there really is something for everyone. It's been incredible watching them come out of their shells so quickly. The teachers are relatable and approachable--seriously, how cool is that?! My kids are involved in cheer, track & field, and my freshman had the incredible opportunity to travel to Greece for spring break with the school. Of course, everyone's experience is unique, but for us, everything has been nothing short of fantastic so far. Highly recommend!

So many of the teachers extremely good at their job and need so much more praise than what they get. The student life is amazing there are so many groups and i feel like there is most definitely someone you could find with similar interests. The fine arts program is fantastic the band has sounded amazing and the dance program is popping off. The sports programs have been doing amazing recently basketball is being coached extremely well soccer aswell. The main problem i have with this school is the administrators. Ive never seen them happy literally ever and they always hating for no reason except the principle hes mysterious but hes cool. I havent even seen the one of the vice principals which is crazy. I feel so bad for Dr.McDonald because she is literally carrying this school on her back she puts in so much effort and has to take up so many classes and all of this because no one else wants to. The admins who barely do anything always taking credit for everything that the students and she does.
