My boyfriend and I live in Meredith area and we thought we would call local vet hospitals near us. Meredith Animal Hospital was the first to pop up. They were closed but gave a direct number to the Dr to call in case of an emergency. CLEARLY this was an emergency. When the guy answered the phone my boyfriend explained to him what happened. The guy asked if we were current clients and we answered no. The guy then goes, well call your vet. My boyfriend goes it's 730 they are closed, the guy stated well you should call your vet someone should be there answering your calls like I do for my clients. We were considering moving our dog to a local vet but clearly this one is not an option based on the rude response we received.

They asked if they could take her to to back because there was "too many people in the room" (me and my family) they came back a short while later and said my dog slipped her harness(which has never happened before) and that they couldn't do any vaccines or anything for her, until she had been on a sedation medication. I asked for them to try in the room but they ultimately refused. Sent us home with trazodone and gabapentin to give the dog. I gave the meds to her as instructed, but my dog didn't seem different. I told them I would sit with my dog this time(my family was still in the room with us) and again they commented about having too many people(not exactly a choice as they wanted a morning appt and I have young children.) To which I said it'd be fine and that we just need her shots done. They came prepared with ONE of the vaccines that she needed out of several. I held the dog and she was fine, a little nervous but fine. They refused to give her the other shots to "avoid stressing her out more" recommended more meds to sedate my dog further. I refused the meds as that's just additional money that I don't see as necessary. Come time to check out, and they charged me for an exam; which didn't happen. They tried to get me to have the medications more than once which my 5 year old dog has never needed for a vet appt before. So very upset that this was our experience as now we feel we have not much choice than to drive the distance for the vet that seemed to care more for the dog than the money. All the good reviews gave me such hope... thankful we learned this quickly and don't have to go through this again.

I can't believe I let him take her for a consult in the first place. Additionally, he rushed the conversation, made me feel like an idiot, and rudely told me nowhere else would be able to fit me in before September (4 months from now.) He also gave incorrect info about another diagnosis he clearly knew nothing about. Marie in the office was fantastic, I wish I could work solely with her. I was early to the interview and dr Mike and his wife dr.sandy showed up late for the intervie. By the time I made it back home they called me back in cuz I left. so because I wanted the job I went back for an hour and a half interview of dr sandy showing me pictures of the X-rays of the dentistry I explained that I was highly interested in the position and it looked like fun and looked very informative and wanted to learn as much as I could. dr.sandy said ok and had me come in yesterday 5/17/2022. I was there for six hours shadowing everyone. Well after I left I was confident I had the job just a little while ago I got a call from dr. Mike after I wrote a thank you letter to him and his staff saying that he hired someone else. needless to say that broke my heart for I have dedicated the past six years devoted to helping animals in need. all I can say is best of luck to whoever they hired but it still hurts that they couldn't just let me know ahead of time they were going to hire someone else and get my hopes up.

Kaitlin is now 37 years old, and throughout her childhood we have had 4 other sheltie dogs, most recently Maya, now 3 years old. Dr. Taylor has been a wonderful human being and doctor for all our pets, including rabbits and a guinea pig. Dr Taylor has seen all our pets throughout their lives and for those who needed to be euthanized. He is very professional, has a sense of humor, and provides loving care for all our animals. We are so grateful for his care and dignity when we had to have our dogs put down, due to cancer, etc. We love Dr. Taylor and his staff.
