With all trains going into Liverpool Lime Street suspended, I still had to make my journey back home to Manchester from Liverpool somehow, so TPExpress put on a railway replacement taxi booked in advanced - and out of both taxis I had, Britannia Taxis were so much better and more efficient compared to Cresta Cars of Manchester (they took me to Liverpool while Britannia took care of the return journey).
I was really surprised by Britannia's excellent customer service which is probably amongst the best I've received from any local taxi company (other than Uber of course), who called me hours before I was due to travel to make sure I was provided with all the information I needed as they knew it was an account job, they assured me it would arrive on time and the colour of the car (knowing that hours in advance is impressive) and what to expect.
The driver again seemed very friendly - after a long day in the city and an awful experience with Cresta Cars getting to Liverpool, I just wanted a quick journey home but the taxi driver again make the taxi replacement seem a lot less inconvenient than it would have been (The train takes half an hour, but the drive is around an hour), he picked me up from inside the station as Liverpool Lime Street's taxi area is rather confusing, making sure I got in the car okay and off we started with the journey.
One of the biggest flaws I found with Britannia Taxis was their online services such as their website and app - I found their website to be really slow while their app was old and felt like it hadn't been updated in years, especially as it had poor support for the new iPhone models (XS Max and higher). I also found their online booking service via their website to again be poor, when I typed in common destinations around Liverpool including the station different addresses came up
- London's Liverpool Street Station came in the list before Liverpool one's (Come on, it's a Liverpool company who wants to be picked up from London?)
- Anfield and Goodison Park come up with street names/numbers meaning it is confusing and you can't get an exact quote. When I tried to get a quote to Goodison Park, it ended up coming up with a quote of £280 to Spalding, which is 177 miles away!
A pretty good company based on my experience with one driver - I do feel they really do need to modernise their website and app however to compete with rivals and Uber to be more efficient all round. 3* read more
