I'm really disappointed with my experience at Speakers Corner in Browns Bay…read more I'm a 15-year-old girl and I made a reservation here for a date with my boyfriend. When I booked, they only asked for my name and phone number, my age was never mentioned or requested at any point. Because of that, we assumed it would be fine to come in, especially since we weren't planning on drinking alcohol at all. When we arrived, we were told the only way to order was at the bar. We went up just to order two normal Cokes. That's when we were suddenly told we couldn't be served because we were under 18, even though we were ordering soft drinks only. We ended up having to ask another person to order the Cokes for us, which was awkward and uncomfortable. About five minutes later, a staff member came over and told us we had to leave because we were underage and they "couldn't serve us," despite the fact that we had a reservation and weren't trying to buy alcohol. We were then asked to leave entirely. I understand alcohol laws, but if under-18s aren't allowed on the premises at all, this should be clearly stated when making a reservation. The situation could have been avoided with better communication and handling. Being kicked out like that was embarrassing and honestly ruined what was meant to be a special date. Very poor service and lack of clarity. I wouldn't recommend this place based on our experience

Both were delicious and great for the price. After HH, I stayed for a Margherita pizza and more wine. The pizza was thin crust and tasted fresh. Only thing that was interesting to me was the inability to order the same HH wines after HH. The selection switches out. Service was really great and friendly. It started off rather quiet for HH but began to fill as time went on. Plenty of seating options and trendy decor.

VISIT: end of February 2020…read more This was a pleasant surprise as we ate here probably every day of the 3 that we were in town. I typically shy away from restaurants that are in the hotel because they tend to be pricey. We felt, for Americans, that this was decently priced and that each time we ate here, we got a different meal FOOD WE TRIED: - Chicken and vegetable dumplings - Prawn and chive Gyoza - Arancini - 55 day aged beef brisket sliders - Seafood Risotto - Spaghetti with mussels, snapper and prawns The sliders, gyoza and spaghetti with seafood was VERY good. I wouldn't order the dumplings again, but I always forget that chicken dumplings just aren't the same as pork and/or shrimp. The Arancini was a bit disappointing in flavor, maybe just a touch more salt would have been helpful and same thing with the flavor of the Risotto. The seafood was cooked perfectly, but the sauce on it just wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, for a risotto. Service was always great with the staff always helpful with recommendations. We were very happy to have access to this restaurant during our stay the Four Points

We ordered a meat lover paddle, cheese paddle and a beer tasting paddle. The meat lover paddle consisted of ribs, buffalo wings, lamb skewers, beef skewers, bread, and three types of condiments. The ribs and beef skewers were a bit of the sweet side but were still tasty enough for me to gobble it all up (boyfriend though it was too sweet though), the buffalo wings were nice and spicy (also sweet but i'm pretty sure they're supposed to be, and i liked it), lamb skewers tasted the best on this paddle (actually HE thought the bread was damn good hahaha) Cheese paddle had three types of cheeses (blue, brie or camembert, and a gouda like cheese... i think you can tell i'm not that good with cheeses.. haha), various condiments, crackers and the most delicious garlic bread ever!!! I definitely like this paddle better than the meat lover. Just for that garlic bread... so crispy and full of flavour (and a big fat knife stabbed into the middle too hahahah) Beer tasting had 6 different beers but unfortunately i'm not a beer fan so i can't really judge this. I really like the way they present the tasting though, on a long paddle with large holes drilled into it so the small beer glasses sit inside. There are numbers labelled on the paddle so you can refer to each beer to their beer tasting booklet. Overall, the service was good and food wasn't bad either. We were actually prepared for the worst that night after reading the yelp reviews. I think it really depends on the day and time you go but this time was pretty good. Only negative was some of the meats were marinated too sweet and perhaps the interior will need an update soon. View from the restaurant is beautiful too. I've been a few times and would go again too.

Beer was decent and probably the highlight. Food was not great; three separate orders went…read moreunfinished. Service was helpful enough and we did appreciate the support for the picky 10-year old requirements.

The drinks are cheap and quality, the decor is understated, and there's a 21 and over cap. Couldn't ask for more. I haven't been here on a Thursday or Sunday but apparently those are the nights to make and appearance (because the food is well cheap). Staff is also super nice. Spitting Feathers, you're a gem.

It's not what it was, so that's why I don't give the former business one star. Yelp needs to update this listing to show Permanently Closed. It's a sports bar, not a pub, so ... not a pub. They had Rugby League on, which is OK, but I watch Union. I ordered a Panhead Supercharger (American Pale Ale): it tasted of butterscotch (diacetyl) which should not, not, NOT be the case. I brought it up: "we just changed it". I gave a challenging look: the bartender tried it, said it was OK. Horseshit! I know my stuff and have had several of these while on vacation. It was not right. So poor quality of service. They have a large electronic gaming cave. Yuck. Not a pub. It's not Spitting Feathers anymore. Yelp needs to update the listing so that people know that the old venue is dead and gone.

We were able to grab a shaded table on the patio to enjoy the beach views Because I wasn't feeling well, I just ordered a salad, soup wasn't an option, while my sister got a fish and chips, surprise!! lol The service was super slow and there really wasn't that many patrons. I do believe that they were short staffed. So although the service was slow, we were in NZ and the wait staff was very pleasant and so we were very patient. Also, we're on vacation on the beach, me with a cold, we didn't want to ruin the vibe. Once our meal arrived, it was pretty good. My cucumber salad was refreshing and filling while my sister's fish and chips was good. However, while we were waiting for the next bus, we noticed they had a side counter where I thought they were only serving ice cream. Turns out you could order sandwiches and hot dog and other beach snacks. And there are plenty of benches to sit on just few steps on the beachside. The prices for ice cream stand seemed reasonable, the restaurant prices may seem outrageous. But just remember, the price is in NZ dollars. Once you apply the conversion, the meals are reasonably priced. Waiheke is an island so the ingredients are sourced from the mainland.

The meals are fantastic, and the portions are huge. I'm a fan of their pizza range and must say last time I had their hamburger I fell in love. It was delicious, though definitely too big for me! Even my Dad had trouble finishing it, but it's good to know you get your money's worth! Heineken is on tap at The Dominion, though the bar has a large selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available, so there is definitely something for everyone. While there is plenty of indoor seating, my favourite spot at The Dominion is outside. There are about eight outside tables, two of which are really big and perfect for meals with a group of friends or the family. During summer it's great to sit outside in the heat, but even in winter it's not too bad as there are outdoor heaters above the tables too Tip: There is a room upstairs with a separate bar and outdoor area that can be hired for private functions. Having attended many 21st parties there, I can say with all honesty it is the perfect venue. Not to mention there is a curtain of fairy lights, so that's a definite bonus!
