My general knowledge is great, and I'm a formidable force in any general knowledge quiz, plus expert level in sport and geography. This is all great for fun with family and friends, but as soon as you widen the competition, the more difficult the questions become. Joining some friends, we entered a quiz team for the Tuesday quiz nights at New Brew Bar in Rosedale. The questions are far removed from your general quizzes, these guys are professional, and they prepare a good night's entertainment. The questions are tough, and you need a well balanced team to answer from the variety of testers. Our team consisted of a chef, a writer, a traveller and two sports fans. This came in handy, but we were still left reeling when it came to naming Lindsay Lohan's exes. Darn, they make it tough, and our formidable team finished a respectable third. Not bad for a first night out, considering the regulars have teams much bigger than ours. New Brew is a great spot to enjoy after work drinks, or simply enjoy a night out with friends.

A good meal plus movie tickets right? well we went there again on Saturday and decided to grab a non-movie deal and look at them with a critical beady eye. I'm pleased to say that even without the movie deal the merchant turned out okay. Leading in with the decor, its an interesting blend of 90's outdoor and 70's indoor, I honestly felt like I should be donning an ascot and suffixing each statement with 'like, man' the atmosphere was really relaxed though, lots of people soaking up the sun and a quiet indoor feeling. The food was good ... not great value for money to be honest, I had a grilled chicken burger at $19 and my wife had three corn fritters at $17(!?) .. Food was well presented and the fries came in this 'mini wire deep fry cage' which was cute. The staff were friendly and the service actually pretty good. I'd recommend it for a classic pub lunch in a 1970's bachelor pad, like totally man.

The vibe definitely matches a pub - you can watch sports on the tvs and some nights they have live music. This night, I had the buttermilk fried chicken and added on bao buns with lettuce cups to make it a meal. The chicken is super crispy! On chilly nights I recommend their special drinks menu (boozy coffee or hot chocolate) as its the perfect thing to warm up!

Both were delicious and great for the price. After HH, I stayed for a Margherita pizza and more wine. The pizza was thin crust and tasted fresh. Only thing that was interesting to me was the inability to order the same HH wines after HH. The selection switches out. Service was really great and friendly. It started off rather quiet for HH but began to fill as time went on. Plenty of seating options and trendy decor.

VISIT: end of February 2020…read more This was a pleasant surprise as we ate here probably every day of the 3 that we were in town. I typically shy away from restaurants that are in the hotel because they tend to be pricey. We felt, for Americans, that this was decently priced and that each time we ate here, we got a different meal FOOD WE TRIED: - Chicken and vegetable dumplings - Prawn and chive Gyoza - Arancini - 55 day aged beef brisket sliders - Seafood Risotto - Spaghetti with mussels, snapper and prawns The sliders, gyoza and spaghetti with seafood was VERY good. I wouldn't order the dumplings again, but I always forget that chicken dumplings just aren't the same as pork and/or shrimp. The Arancini was a bit disappointing in flavor, maybe just a touch more salt would have been helpful and same thing with the flavor of the Risotto. The seafood was cooked perfectly, but the sauce on it just wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, for a risotto. Service was always great with the staff always helpful with recommendations. We were very happy to have access to this restaurant during our stay the Four Points

I'm really disappointed with my experience at Speakers Corner in Browns Bay…read more I'm a 15-year-old girl and I made a reservation here for a date with my boyfriend. When I booked, they only asked for my name and phone number, my age was never mentioned or requested at any point. Because of that, we assumed it would be fine to come in, especially since we weren't planning on drinking alcohol at all. When we arrived, we were told the only way to order was at the bar. We went up just to order two normal Cokes. That's when we were suddenly told we couldn't be served because we were under 18, even though we were ordering soft drinks only. We ended up having to ask another person to order the Cokes for us, which was awkward and uncomfortable. About five minutes later, a staff member came over and told us we had to leave because we were underage and they "couldn't serve us," despite the fact that we had a reservation and weren't trying to buy alcohol. We were then asked to leave entirely. I understand alcohol laws, but if under-18s aren't allowed on the premises at all, this should be clearly stated when making a reservation. The situation could have been avoided with better communication and handling. Being kicked out like that was embarrassing and honestly ruined what was meant to be a special date. Very poor service and lack of clarity. I wouldn't recommend this place based on our experience
