We did the family charter for 4. Absolutely fabulous family fun charter trip. Was just the right amount time about hour and half. Both kids got to pull up lobsters. Learn the trade hands on. Much better than a tourist boat with a 50 people. read more

There were only 3 of us because of booking in late September! It was a gorgeous day. Just a little wind. I got to help with the sails. We enjoyed beautiful views while being given the history and stories of the area, the sights, and lighthouses. We will return to the area to enjoy hiking trails and a light house tour in the near future. The Captain and his wife were so lovely! Many extras were offered...like water, mixed drinks and snacks. We got to experience the "sails", the waves and the tranquil river all in one adventure! Nothing could have made this experience better! We will definitely recommend BroadReach Adventures to others! Very relaxing sail out on the Atlantic coast. Bob and Sammi were helpful, knowledgeable, and fun. We saw cormorants diving for dinner and sturgeon jumping ahead of us. Some folx got to steer the boat as we headed back to the dock. Saw the beginning of a nice sunset. An all around great experience. read more

This was one of the best sailing trips I have went! Bob and Jonathan were great tour guides supplying us with a wealth of knowledge regarding all the islands and light houses. My girlfriends and I began our Maine trip by sailing along the river with Abby and her husband Bob. Be sure to park in the sanded lot by the dock and you'll meet them there! There was another couple who ended up not being able to make it, so the 4 of us were able to enjoy the boat to ourselves! Our tour started out with introductions and a tour of the boat and we were off on our way! We spent most of the night on the bow. Abby was so sweet and prepared the snacks we brought and poured us our rosé. We were so spoiled! There's nothing like being on the water! Abby and Bob were so knowledgeable and passionate about Saco. I enjoyed hearing the stories about the Wood Island Lighthouse. I did get a little sea sick (probably should have sat closer to the wheel area), but Abby was prepared and gave me ginger candy, ginger essential oil, and sea bands. Those remedies totally helped and I felt instantly better. This is a wonderful tour and must do if you're in the area or staying in Portland! I can't wait to sail again with them! read more

Let me just start by saying what an amazing time we had on this trip!! The experience of sailing on such a beautiful boat was truly something special but adding in Abby and Bob was like adding sprinkles on top of ice cream, I got nothing but kindness and true enjoyment from them! Our trip was a morning trip and started with some heavy fog, but they made sure we had the best trip possible, they circled around the island when the fog cleared and showed us everything Saco bay had to offer. When my girlfriend got sick they jumped at making her feel as comfortable as possible with sea bands, ginger, essential oils and quickly got out of the rougher water that was not sitting well with her stomach. I can not say enough great things about this trip and this wonderful couple! If I ever find myself in Maine again, I will definitely be back!!!! read more

We did a 2 hour private charter booked through Broad Reach. The operator was Captain Shawn (MaineTunaFishing.com). Captain Shawn and his crew member were great with kids and it was a fine experience overall (though not exceptional given cost). The low rating is due to the hundreds of extra dollars in cost for the trip booking through Broad Reach vs direct and the very poor description of pick-up locations and their impact on the experience. We selected the Biddeford pick-up option based on the description in the website suggesting this location if coming from the Kennebunkport area. Choosing this pick-up location adds a $70 surcharge to the trip. What was not made clear is that it takes about 40 minutes both ways to get out of the harbor from this pick-up location. Since this was a 2 hour trip, we we were left with about 10 min of fishing and about 10 minutes of pulling lobster pots - for a trip that costs well over $600 including tips. Overall, book this charter directly with MaineTunaFishing.com rather than Broad Reach and do not select Biddeford pick-up for shorter trips. read more

We brought our own snacks and drinks along with us, and they would go below deck and get whatever we needed for us, so we didn't miss a thing. What a great time! Two awesome captains, very knowledgeable and friendly. It was too windy to go out in the ocean, so we went up the Saco River.
