The front office staff is very pleasant and helpful. The care for my mom was good the first few days, before she was transferred down the hall for keeping her roommate awake during the night. My mom was almost 99 years old. At the time she arrived at Broadmoor unbeknownst to me or the nursing staff she had a UTI which at her age usually causes a huge spike in dementia. She also had massive fluid buildup in her abdomen. This also spread to her lungs. Dr. Jensen correctly discerned the situation. And ordered a chest exam and antibiotics for the UTI. He also started her on medicine to reduce the fluid buildup. When mom's breathing turned for the worst, Broadmoor called an ambulance. Broadmoor is a small facility compared to some, but I would recommend them based on my experience. read more

I can not say enough great things about Broadmoor! Rachel is the best of the best. She knew us by name and helped make the last 10 days of my mother in laws life as pleasant as possible while always making sure we were also ok and taken care of. The nurses-Kimberly, Maria, and several others that I apologize I just don't remember their names-were incredible in a very difficult situation and time. Any concerns we had were addressed and corrected immediately. We did get married at the Broadmoor many years ago when my mother in law had fallen and broken several bones and was there for rehab so to come for circle and be able to do hospice there was a blessing for all of us! Ensure that you have love ones who are able to visit often to ensure your loved one is eating, getting their medication and getting their physical therapy, etc. PLEASE take lots of notes, videos and pictures. Lord forbid if you need copies of the medical records they will be incomplete and will not tell the full account of events and conversations. BEWARE!!!!! read more

I am currently receiving out patient therapy at Broadmoor Medical Lodge. I am about 9 weeks out from having left shoulder surgery. It's always difficult having to put loved ones in a nursing home or rehab facility so like most others I read the reviews and wasn't quite sold on this facility. My dad has been here for maybe five days now and yesterday was my first time going to see him because I live out of state. I was pleasantly surprised. I did not pick up on unpleasant odors that one might encounter in facilities like this. I did not see people sitting in the hallways slumped over like I have seen in some facilities. The staff was very attentive to my dad when I was there as well as coming and introducing themselves to me to find out a little about me. I walked around and never saw anything that was alarming. All common areas including the kitchen were very clean from what I could see. Only con was that I could not find any of my dads clothes. I guess they were at the laundry, so naturally I went and picked up a few items for him. At this point I think I'm pretty satisfied with the facility and I hope that my dads stay will be short enough to allow me to continue to have that positive experience. read more

My mother spent several weeks there for rehab following spine surgery. The doctor ordered pain meds 4 / day but they often skipped them. We're pretty sure someone at the facility stole them but could never prove it. No one ever helped her change clothes. She once went 3 days in the same pants/top. The food was awful (cold eggs every morning, other meals often unrecognizable. When asked if they had cereal, they brought fruit loops w no milk!) On several occasions, when no one responded after an hour, she called the facility on her phone to get help. They actually found her aid asleep in an empty room one of those times! And the social worker... absolutely no help w discharge! And to top it off, they sent another resident's records w her to her next facility! This place should be reported to the state. read more

Worst place possible. He excuses were poor staffing. My bed actually had feces from prior patient. Nurse refused to meds the first night. I was there for rehab with orders for assistance. I was told I would have to do my own shower. Rehab was given x 3 days only. Was told he had too many patients. It gave me instructions to do by myself. I was post major spine surgery. My mother was sent to Broadmoor Medical Lodge for physical therapy after being in the hospital for 16 days. Every time I have visited her, she was wearing a dirty hospital gown despite having many clean gowns in her closet. I have asked them many times to put her in clean clothes, but have never actually seen her in clean clothes since she has been there. On 11/18/21, they took her to a doctor's appointment without my knowledge (another major complaint). The nursing staff at the doctor's office called me to tell me that she was filthy. If you do not constantly advocate for your loved one, this place will completely ignore them. Beware! read more

I cannot thank the facility at Broadmoor enough for taking care of my great aunt Kelly. I have never met a team of professionals more compassionate and professional. They are quick to do what is best for my great aunt despite her not wanting to do her therapy. Will definitely be recommending this to friends for their loved ones. read more

My Aunt has been in Broadmoor for almost a year. First in rehab and then transferred to long term care. She is very happy. We always vary visiting times so we can check on her at different times and she is always well taken care of. We just recommended to the hospital to transfer another relative there for rehab. I guess everyone has a different expectation and it's always shocking to have a loved one in the hospital but in my opinion BML is a good place. read more

DO NOT let anyone you care about come HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED. They clearly do not care. Ignored my mother's diabetes, and all her medications were ignored and not managed. no water given, very rude staff, you have to fight for everything that you need. It is inhumane. AlERT-ALARM-ALERT DO NOT ADMIT YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS OR LOVED ONES TO: BROADMOORE MEDICAL LODGE ROCKWALL, TX My 85 yr.old husband was admitted there after hip surgery for therapy on march 27,2017. Beautiful buildings and equipment BUT NO HELP for the patients. At 11:00 pm on march 30,2017 I was ready to call 911 and police to get my husband out of that horrible,dirty,unsafe place. Even the few working there were very stressed and tired. There is no communication between shift changes and administrative staff with too much ATTITUDE!! The morning of march 31,2017 I arrived at 8:30 am to find everyone in a meeting. After 3 hrs the director of nursing Julie Hilton finally arrived in my husbands room, the adistrator and social worker were outside my husbands room listening, SHAME on them. Had I known, I would have further addressed the issue of the filthy room-having found him several times lying in urine and feces for several hours. I got him out of that place and rushed him to Presbyterian hospital in Dallas-the medical board of Texas should do a review of this business-their employees were telling me to get my husband out of their care-my mistake was choosing broadmoor for my husbands rehab. Warning. Nursing care is sourly lacking. If you can find a facility that has sufficient help, go there. This place is not prepared to help people that need nursing care. I would never take another family member here. Talk to the nurses about lack of staff. Beware and be aware of what's going on here. You need to be present 24_7 or your loved one will be ignored. read more

My mother was treated there after a massive stroke and the nurses and staff were great and my mother is doing out-patient therapy and just loves going three days a week and her therapists. So over all I have to say that its been a time well spent as she is getting better and enjoys getting out and seeing everyone when we go in for her therapy. She gets a big kick out of seeing all the staff that took care of her. read more

My father was admitted here after having a leg surgery. The staff did not take care of him or his healing wounds. After less than a week he had to be rushed back to the hospital to have his wounds reopened and cleaned. They had become that infected after the staff neglected to take the proper care and clean them. His surgeon even called and gave specific instructions on treating the wounds and this still happened. I would never recommend anyone check themselves or a loved one in here. read more

Wish I had done more research on this place. The PT and OT are great. Some of the aids or CNA's should not be there. Can say the same about the LVN's. The late night crew are totally worthless. I witnessed an aid wrapped up with a blanket in the Bristo for over 2 hours. She only checked on my husband two times during her shift and I had to call her one of those times. read more

I wish I could break this rating down into two parts. Rehab would get 4 or 5 stars but the rest of the facility would get a negative 1 or worse. This place looks pretty but the care is horrible. They are way understaffed! One of my parents was there for rehab and went in with a small sacral wound, within 11 days it was VERY severe to the point we didn't think survival was possible. Wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place, no one should be treated this way. read more

Beautiful place nice therapy area on the surface a nice place to go and then reality sets in once the patient actually gets there.The worst care ever! Not enough staff, staff overworked, horrible food, wrong medication given to patient, waited 45 minutes or longer for assistance to go to the bathroom, noisy during the night, patient went in for therapy to get stronger and go home, instead thanks to the care the patient developed pneumonia and had to return to hospital. The director Mr. Black was useless and did not care. NEVER SEND A LOVED ONE THERE! read more
