When this bank was a SEFCU things worked well, but in the fall of 2023 it merged with CapCom to form Broadview. Things here are now slower than slow. Every transaction takes 2-3x as long because the computer systems aren't fully integrated. Whether you are making a deposit or a withdrawal, you need to sign a receipt. Even the ATM software outside is slower... it offers you more options which take longer to navigate through, and it also pauses longer between screens. I hope it gets better, because right now it is just a time waster. (The staff, which are the same as from when it was SEFCU, are still nice though!) read more

They gave me a shot at financing my cars, when my score was on the low side . . but I was able to talk to them and show them my progress and explain my old debts. That, was 20 years ago. Much has changed, over the years . . as SEFCU Got Bigger, and the consumer became much smaller, to them. We hold no value anymore. Just a credit score. Now, they have merged with CapCom and become rebranded as BroadView. So now they are even BIGGER and we, the consumer are even smaller. I get that my credit score has seen its ups and downs over the 35 years I have been with SEFCU/Broadview. I get that, after review of my credit profile, they had to cancel a credit card I had with them, even though I had been making payments all along. I get that part. But, when you canceled my card - your system will no longer allow me to make a payment to the card on my own. Instead, I have to call each time and request to GIVE YOU MONEY. How absurd (and out of touch) is that? Okay, so I make the call and request that you take $210 payment towards the closed card. Staff makes the payment to a different card on an account that is still active, and I could have made myself. Why would I need them to make a payment on an account I have access to'? Then, when I told them about the mistake they made, they informed the that they could reverse the payment - but it would take two days and I Can make another $210 to the closed card today. WAIT. WHAT? So, you are perfectly OKAY tying up my $420 for a few days while you sort out the mistake you made? A mistake, by the way, I would not have made if I was able to make the payment myself[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My Dad has a Credit Score of 840. You fall all over him, when he comes in and call him if he gets a car loan from another bank. Yet, his interest rate is so good that you barely make any money from him. My interest rate is much higher. And you treat me like the red headed step child. Yet, I have never fully missed a payment with SEFCU in over 30 years. You make a ton of money from people like me. Broadview has this deceptive practice where their algorithms will prioritize purchases in a way that maximizes the possibility of over drafting your account. You could make an in person debit card purchase, have an incoming payroll check, and some automatic payments and regardless of actual purchase dates the bank will clear it whatever way that gets them multiple overdraft fees. Even if that means removing an in person purchase to let an ACH payment go through and then allowing a bunch of small purchases after so they can get three overdraft payments instead of one. They also won't pull from an attached savings account to cover the difference because all they want are overdraft fees. It's predatory. read more

I'm being double charged for flood insurance. Broadview wrote the check from my escrow to pay for flood insurance just prior to the gov't shutdown. They have not received a certificate from FEMA because of the shutdown. They have been advised to be patient and not charge customers for additional flood coverage. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have called them multiple times to attempt to resolve this.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Today I received a notice that they are charging my escrow account again for flood insurance they have already paid for. Since this merge, there has been nothing but problems, and many representatives that are unable to actually give feasible reasons why payments are being canceled, auto pays being dropped, onlibe banking not accepting check deposits, the list goes on. These unexplainable malfunctions are affecting credit score, causing payment to be late, along with being very stressful. Received a 3rd letter from Broadview saying thank you for letting us know of your change of address. I have never contacted them for a change of address. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called customer service I spoke to a woman who clearly did not like her job and huffed and puff when I repeatedly told her I never contacted them about a change of address[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and wanted to know who they spoke to, why they would make any changes to my accounts without my permission which they cannot legally do and the response I got was the post office told us to do it. So I challenge the woman and told her I didn't file a change of address with the post office which I didn't and the post office has no authority over my accounts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I again asked who they spoke to regarding my accounts and I received no answer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She then put me on hold came back and again said the post office told us to. I then told her I had already spoken to the post office and they confirmed they never contacted Broadview and told them to change people's addresses on their accounts because they have no authority to do that. Interestly I still have not been told who did they spoke to, how who ever they spoke to was able to answer MY security questions or perhaps they never asked and how they feel they can legally make changes to my account without my permission. I find this so disturbing and concerning that any business but a financial institution to behave in this manner to make changes to someone's accounts then tell them after the fact they did it. I attempted to deposit money from my other bank account to my Broadview Account by writing a personal check. I have done this before. An "extended hold" was placed on my account. When I called, I was told that my money is being held for 6 days because of "doubtful collectability"... I have had the account for almost three years, I have near perfect credit, and I have never in my life written a bad check on this or any account. The money was taken out of my other account without issue. They have been charging me for an in-house auto pay from a closed in house account I once had. And telling me it was my fault that they didn't close the auto payment when they closed the ac account. One of the worst companies I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. There are several other reviews scorning them, but in my opinion their failings are the result of terrible technological/digital infrastructure. Whoever is CTO and/or CEO should resign immediately. Here are just a sample of issues I have personally experiened within the last few months: 1. My new job's first deposit was withheld after initially being deposited. This meant that I was unable to access funds I was in crucial need for at the time I needed it most. When I called about this issue, they said their system witheld it for fraud, and that I should have received an alert 2 days prior. (I did not, in fact, reieve any such alert by text, email, etc). 2. Fraud alert blocked my card when attempting to buy something with which I could not use my credit card. When I called and complained that this was *not* fraud, they told me they would get my account unblocked. Unfortunatley, this took several hours and I was unable to buy what I needed. 3. When I attempted to connect Broadview to a budgeting app I use, I discovered that Broadview was one of only a few banks (of thousands listed) that didn't "have the the infrastructure in place" to connect my bank account details with the app. This was very annoying since we're in the modern age and I would like to live the life of a modern human. 4. BONUS complaint: It should NOT take 1 hour, end-to-end to initiate a wire transfer. Madness. Terrible. Avoid at all costs. Find another bank. read more

As a personal customer of SEFCU and Capcom and also a business customer with SEFCU for 30 plus years I am deeply disappointed with the newly formed Broadview. From a business perspective I knew there would be issues with the merger and was patient during that process. Now that there has been sufficient time for them to settle in I am astounded at their fall from the best to the worst credit union. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff are rude, impatient and annoyed in doing their jobs - if they can do there jobs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked for a simple 10 day payoff letter to be emailed during a chat. I received a one line email with balance and per diem interest![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to go to the branch to get it on letterhead, the person never made eye contact, couldn't print it themselves, I had to wait at the counter in silence while the staff member tapped away never once engaging me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had ask her after 6 minutes if she could check the printer! It has gone from bad to absurd. I won't even get into check holds and fraud cancellations and bad rate offerings. I sought out other options and have settled on FIRST NEW YORK FCU who is refinancing my car loans at 2 percent less than Broadview. Have less fees and far superior customer service. They respond to chat and emails. They look at you and speak in full sentences. I can't speak to their banking experience yet but will give a full review of their services as I use them. I am moving my accounts slowly so as not jump from frying pan to fire. If you venture there to check them out ask for Messiah the manager, he's amazing at his job. read more

We were customers of CapCom FCU for more than 35 years and EXTREMELY pleased with the services and especially the 5-star customer service. Since the merger, the level of customer service has declined drastically. Hold times are long, HORRIBLE service with numerous issues and no one is on the same page. Talk with two people and get two completely different answers. We are all about change for the right reasons but have yet to find one right thing with this merger. read more

I was surprised prequalifed for a home loan and jumped through hoops for nearly 2 weeks--only for HELOC Lending Department to turn me down with BS reasoning. I have been with CAP COM since 2010. I loved CAP COM! When CAP COM merged with Broadview an old paid-off loan through CAP COM was put back on my credit report because of Broadview. Every customer service agent apologized, but there was no remedy. I have called and complained three times and still have no relief. I have a letter from Broadview that states that it would be removed, and it never was. It is now almost 90 days and it still shows on my report. I keep getting the run around, and it continues to stay on my credit score. CAP COM would have had it fixed quickly but Broadview drags their feet! Down with Broadview!!!!! I loved capcom. Now I dread banking with broadview. The lines and wait are too long. Banking not made easy. If you want to pay extra on the principal for your mortgage, you have to make a deposit into your checking or savings account and a message is sent to the back of the house (somewhere unknown) for someone to transfer the money to the principal of your mortgage. Why can't you do this simple task in the branch? I can accept change for the better but things have taken several steps back. This isn't my only issue with the credit union . read more

After 50+ years with CapComFCU, this is a TERRIBLE fall from what used to be the best banking anywhere. First, forget about calling them. Their idiot robots ask several personal questions, then you are forced to repeat them if you get an actual person on the line, and if you need another person yet, you REPEAT IT ALL AGAIN. It isn't much better going to the office itself, either, because although the workers are very nice, they're severely understaffed. When CapCom got integrated into the Broadview system, everyone that I had linked accounts with turned into joint accounts that they could do with whatever they wanted. How does a bank allow people full access to your accounts without your authorization? Then said bank says that i need the other people to sign something to change it??? I can't believe anyone would give Broadview anything other than 1 star. I've been a member of SEFCU/Broadview for 40 years. Never once have I had a problem with SEFCU customer service. They were always helpful and any issues or requests such as transferring money or setting up a new account were generally handled on the phone. Not anymore. Over a week ago, I tried to transfer money from my Broadview checking account to an external bank. An ALERT came up that said my "Profile was on hold" because they couldn't verify my identity. I called the number on the alert notice and got zero satisfaction. The technology people couldn't figure out why I got the notice but after a couple of daily calls by me complaining, I received an email telling me the problem was resolved. When I checked the website it wasn't and it still hasn't been. Every single time I called, which numbers 5 or 6 times now, I get a different answer from Customer Service, and I use that term loosely. The problem persists 8 days after Broadview was initially notified of the issue. Three days ago, I called Customer Service to set up a CD and was told it couldn't be done over the phone (which it had been the past 4 times I set up a CD) and I would have to come in to a branch office to do it. I told the gentlemen that wasn't true and there was an online application that could be completed to set one up. He didn't know about that. Can you say "Poor training"? Anyway, I was forced to complete the online application which only transferred money from one Broadview account to another. When I was done, I was notified that the process would only take a "day or two". Here I sit 2 days later and haven't heard a word from Broadview about the status of the application. Today its horrible, the app fails so often I cant access anything. The help online is wayy below par. I have a 6 month certificate coming to maturity in a few days and after that, No more! I wish I could give them zero stars. I had an auto loan with them that was paid via electronic transfer of funds from NBT Bank every month. I paid the loan off in full. After 2 months, Broadview was still reporting the auto loan is open on my credit report and they were still taking the monthly payment out of my NBT account. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called Broadview 6 times and was told the money that they took out of my NBT account would be deposited into my Broadview savings account. But that didn't happen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So I called them again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This time they told me the money would be returned to NBT because the auto loan no longer existed. This is the opposite of what I was told previously.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bottom line I was told I have to wait 5 more business days for the money to be returned to my NBT account from which it was wrongly withdrawn. A family member went to BFCU to get a multi-page document notarized. Notary missed a page and we had to go back to get it re-done. Included in our copes of the documents provided by BFCU there was a copy of a credit application submitted by another family. I won't be trusting Broadview again. read more

Was/am a member of CCFCU, for more than 40 years. Tremendous quality of service. The transition to Broadview has been dismal beyond belief. Staff on the phone does what they can, but their hands are tied by archaic and ineffective processes. The transition was atrocious, confusing, and almost caused harm, and the on-line interface is a 35 year leap back in effectiveness. CEO and all the C Staff needs to be forced to have this experience, and then fired. Horrible. read more
