Had the warm pretzel bites with the hot cheese sauce. So darn good! I ordered the caprese salad. OMG so delicious! Loads of heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Absolutely delicious! Tomatoes were so good. Husband had the sriracha wings, served on a bed of flash fried kale. Excellent! Kale was wonderful. Wings were delicious, maybe not as meaty as others, but full of flavor and certainly better than most wings he has had. Beer is always good. It was spot on, they are farm to table with a rotating menu, staying true to the concept. So many places advertise this but don't deliver. Broadway hit the mark with the dish I had, tops my list of farm to table meals. Carbonara, with mushrooms, pancetta, beet tops, ramps, and duck yolk to mix the sauce. In case you wondered my other choice was, burnt ends, so not a vegetarian. Some people like the freshness of a rotating menu, some don't. Seen a lot of places that start off that way and get lazy, with the knowledge of the food they were presenting. Broadway isn't among those. I love this place. We live in St. Louis but event bring us out several times a year. We enjoy the beer and the food. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Sundays they do a great brunch with live bluegrass music! The bloody Mary's are my favorite in the area. We did a Bloody Mary pub hop one Sunday out of 5 places this was the best to us. Bleu cheese olives! Great craft and unique selection of booze. The fried chicken dinner plate is so good I have seriously considered driving in just to get it. I'm not even kidding. Perfectly crispy seasoned fried chicken over mashed potatoes with white gravy and the best roasted green beans on the side I've ever had. I frequently make the trek from St. Louis to Kansas City and back, and my best friend from high school lives in COMO -- this means a lot of stopping in for quick dinners. On my most recent visit we checked out Broadway Brewery, and I'm so glad we did. It was on the first freezing day of "fall" and this spot served as a great little hideaway to warm up, have some drinks, and enjoy good food. We went super early on a weekday, and there weren't many people there yet. Our server was so friendly and knew a ton about the menu, and was able to recommend lots of different things. Clearly they have an excellent beer selection, but they also have a full bar. The menu is huge and so many things looked great, but considering how much eating out I had been doing before this dinner, I decided to go as healthy as possible and order the black bean burger. It's house-made and so good, and comes topped with spinach, roasted red pepper, and spicy cheddar. Things I want to try next time: the trout hush puppies, root vegetable hash, the artichoke porter dip, and pretty much all of the speciality pizzas. So good! When my cousin graduated from law school, this was where we went for her celebratory dinner. The menu was cut down that night for obvious reasons--the entire place was nothing but large parties--but I would say they made the right choices. I had a house made chickpea burger and it was absolutely delicious. I've had plenty of veggie burgers and this one was money. We also had the beer cheese dip which was completely top notch, and we even tried the beef tar tar which was really good! My cousin had never tried it and she wound up really enjoying it! This brewery in the heart of Columbia is great. On my visit, a Friday night, the place was hopping, but our party of 3 only had to wait ~15 minutes. That was ok, because we could belly-up to a bar stocked with their own beer (as well as a guest micro-brewer's beer). I had the cream ale and it was very nice. We started out with the artichoke dip with pretzels (for $0.50 you can sub an extra pretzel in for the chips and I recommend doing so)--these hot and salty beauties pair very well with the creamy and artichoke-laden dip (I could have just eaten this and been happy). We split several pizzas, the spicy Italian sausage-with smoked ricotta, it was great--and the Squash and Bacon--it was also good, but I think I would ask for it without the cream sauce next time (so many rich flavors took away from the butternut squash). The crust is great--think and cooked in a very hot oven to give it a smoky flavor and it was loaded with toppings. For 3 of us, the 2 pizzas were more than enough, with some to take as a late-night snack. Our service was also good; although they were busy we were checked on several times and always had our waters filled. Next time I am in town, I am totally going to hit this place again...I want to try the lamb burger with a side of mac and cheese or the asian stir fry. read more

Another year coming back for Homecoming, and Sunday morning found us seeking breakfast. Columbia has changed a lot in the years since graduating college, and I would have never guessed that Broadway Brewery would serve breakfast, but after dreadingly thinking about non-chain restuarants in the area that weren't the typical diner bound to be packed on a Sunday after game day, my boyfriend luckily gave this place a call. To our luck, we headed downtown! Surprisingly, parking wasn't as hard to find as anticipated. The wait was 45 minutes, and the ONE complaint, they don't know how to manage a reservation system. Their friendly competitor doesn't take reservations for the reasons we saw, we had to wait 45 minutes with half an empty restaurant. They kept turning over the same tables again and again without the reserved parties in sight. We literally sat next to a 12 seater that was empty when we walked in, and empty when we walked out. Also, they don't take same day reservations, so make sure to plan ahead. I still think this place would be worth it to make a reservation for a Sunday morning, as I think we will again in the future now we know the system. As far as the food - WOW. None of use tried the drinks, but they also looked delicious. The menu was small, yet various, and had plenty of delicious options. This isn't your average bacon and eggs place, it's much more, and much better. Gourmet food for a chain restuarant price. Literally. My boyfriend and I ate for $22 and brought a box home! The biscuits and gravy are phenomenal, thick and dense triangle biscuits with a savory, flavorful white gravy. They exceeded my expectations. I ended up just eating a plate of them for breakfast I didn't need anything else. Everyone at the table was highly satisfied. Once we were seated, the service was also great. This is the best place in Columbia. Most breweries have just a few beers or one beer style. Broadway has solid IPAs (plural!!!!), a delicious porter, a great brown and a stout collaboration with a local coffee shop. The French dip and side salad are the best I have ever had. The pizza is perfectly cooked. I had a special with apple and pork that was a unique blend of sweet and savory that more than satisfied. The leek soups was out of this world delicious. They are also great if you have dietary restrictions. They were willing to help with vegan and veggie options far beyond the typical steamed veggies and rice you get at other places. The best part about this place is the staff. Incredibly kind and helpful, even beyond the food. On my first week in town they gave me a long list of to-dos that helped me orient and enjoy my time. They also have free wireless if you need it and they are the perfect spot for lunch. read more

I wished they'd has more options for their own porters/stouts (they offered a lot of different choices of their own brews though) but I tried a mead from Leaky Roof Meadery in Buffalo, MO. It was the High, Dry, & Dusty... Not bad either!!! I finished the whole drink (something I don't normally do, even with my favorite beers). I Should've followed the rule: Don't order the chicken in a hamburger joint or in this case -- Don't order the steak in a sandwich shop. A great feature in downtown Columbia, this is a really solid microbrew with excellent, unique food. When we stopped in, two Saisons were on tap. I loved the 4 Hands guest tap of Pyrus saison, and their house honey Saison was very good as well. The Honey Wheat was nice and mild as well. The pints are about ~$4.40 but that seemed pretty reasonable for the unique brews. We started with the artichoke cheese dip ($7.99). The served suggested we switch out the chips for another pretzel (which showed up as an unmentioned $0.50 surcharge). Anyways, the 2 long pretzel sticks that came with the cup of dip seemed rather sparse for the price of the appetizer but the cheese dip did have a nice flavor. We tried the Spicy Italian Sausage pizza ($16) with smoked ricotta and roasted tomatoes - it was excellent. The Butternut Bacon pizza missed it mark a bit- the creamy, herbed sauce clashes with the richness of the roasted squash and lardon bits to make the pizza a bit too sweet and a pick of unpleasant twang. I think the Butternut Bacon pizza sounded better on paper then when executed. The pizza are easily large enough for 2 people. We were a group of three and ended up with half a pizza to take home. The place was really lively at 8pm on a Friday night, and since they are constantly switching our house and guest taps, I look forward to trying something new every time I come back. read more

Their oysters, which was their replacement, was terrible. Then when i attempt to eat there again, they want me to sit at a table i don't want to, even though it's a slow night. In summation, yes their food is good, but they hate you when you walk in. If you want gourmet food without feeling like you're a burden on society, go when they have no one else there. The Brewery's atmosphere was almost elegant and subdued--quite a surprise for a college town! The beer was cold, refreshing & fresh. The service was extra special and attentive. I was visiting Missouri and came across this little gem. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food (some type of mushroom dip) was phenomenal. It tasted earthy yet delicious. I have to say the best thing about this place is its beer. Go figure right? Seriously though, the beer here is amazing and I wish it was bottled and sold in stores. Curbside pick up was super easy and safe! This was our first time here and boy are we excited to come back. First and foremost, the proper cheese dip and pretzels was by far, the absolute pretzel and cheese dip we've ever had. And let me tell you, we know our cheese dips!
