Charles failed me after i had proof of having done the smog not even a year ago. Turns out i have a universal catalytic converter and all he had to do was to google search the part number. Charles is really nice on the phone and in person too. Little hard to find, but it's the blue shop right next to the motorcycle place. Really fast service, only took 20 minutes to get in and out. Less than 50 cash to get it all done too on my 91 Toyota Camry. Will come back again next time I need it done, definitely recommend. Update 7/5/2017 Came back for my 89 Camry station wagon. Been bringing my cars here for years. Owner recognizes me and even remembered my previous vehicle. Small shop and can only do one car at a time. Small local businesses like these should be more common then having to go to chain locations. Smog test only but he offers advice on possible issues with the vehicle if it doesn't pass (code will be on your paperwork). He does a quick and efficient job and us personable. LOVE LOVE LOVE it when he has his Mustang in the shop! Believe it's a '67 tricked out. Needs body work but it's always a nice view to look at when he is running your car. Still want to make an offer, one day. He does charge for a retest but it's still cheaper then other places I've been but also its a small shop so I don't mind spending the extra if I need a retest to check codes. read more

smog test only,really ? I don't understand how the smog tech, Avi can refuse to test a vehicle because he believes it will fail and require a retest. Which as he explained to me as "it cost me money to retest". I went to Broadway Smog Center 7310 Broadway Lemon Grove CA 91945 619-667-0522. This is a test only station, isn't it supposed to smog test older vehicles ? But hey, he and the owner Ray Flores are in charge and if they do not want to smog test any vehicle so be it. I've lived in East County since 1977 and this is the first time EVER a shop has refused to even try lol. I really do hope everyone else has a better experience like others who have posted, but I won't be back. I'm sure Avi is glad to hear that ..fair enough. read more

Coupons are easily found in the weekly Penny Saver. A very kind and excellent technician who runs his business on a first come first serve basis. Best chance to not wait is to get there early; as parking is somewhat restrictive. Waiting area is a plus with manly magazines and a television. And don't forget to enjoy the complimentary water from the cooler. Service is performed quick and with a smile. I have been here twice before and have yet to not pass. Also note that if you pay with a credit card then a two dollar service fee is tacked on so bring cash. read more

I has a small dealership and I usually take my cars here. They usually get me in out under 20 minutes. Ray and Charles are good people, and they take care of me. The parking is a bit scarce though. Usually it isnt a problem, but they only have 2 spots to park. And one spot inside where they do their smogs. I would recommend them to anyone, and they give a fair price for smogging too. read more

I went here because of the coupon and location. My husband had to spend a lot of $$$ on a catalytic converter so I was ready to get a quick smog before my tags ran out. Come to find out they gave it a No Pass because the parts looked new. Well the parts came from the dealer and they were expensive - I didn't get the work done in TJ! Anyway I went home to tell my husband what happened who called our mechanic who called the shop owner to explain their mistake. In the end, they admitted their mistake and refused a refund or free re-test. I dread going to these places knowing they're going to rip you off if you don't know much about cars. Needless to say this place met my expectations. They didn't even offer a discount on a second smog to fix THEIR mistake. I refuse to go here ever again even for their cheap gas. read more

I just want to say, I went through the effort of signing up just to write this review. I saw the earlier 5 star review after a google search for a smog check place in my area, and after calling to see how busy they were (recommended, as they are first come first serve) ran up to get my car done for registration renewal. As you can see, I gave it 5 stars as well. The tech was extremely courteous, friendly and quick. Pretty much everything I look for in any service transaction, in any field. I was in and out in 15 min, and can't say how happy I am to support a business owned and run by a fellow American, rather than a mega-corporation. As mentioned above, there is a $2 service fee for credit cards, but I know how it is to be a small guy dealing with the credit card companies, it's really painful. Bring cash unless you want to pay the fee, but it's not the owners fault, that's the only way to for small businesses to deal with the issue. Even though I probably won't need this service very often, it will be where I go in the future, and where I'll send anyone who asks, without hesitation. read more

Went there to get a smog check for my registration. I had recently cleared a check engine light after fixing the issue and asked the owner if he thought it would be clear after the amount of miles I put on it, which he said yes to. I asked him that if it didn't pass, does his shop have free rechecks like Shell, which he said yes to within the first 30 day and then 20 dollars if it needs a recheck after that. Needless to say the smog failed because the check engine sensors had not reset yet. I ran the car another 120 miles to reset the sensor and came back the next day for the recheck. They plugged in the car to see if the sensor had reset so they wouldn't have do the smog if it was bound to fail again. Turns out it was going to pass this time. He then tells me that a recheck is $20 dollars even though he had just told me yesterday that it was free. The reason I even asked in the first place is because i know some shops don't do free rechecks and I did not want to spend the extra money if it failed. **Then I started thinking, why did he check if the sensors were set the second time, without checking the first time? The conclusion I came to was that he wanted the initial $45 dollars for the first smog, and then to make me come back to pay another $20 for the recheck. He could have simply checked the first time and said, run it a couple of miles more and then come back** I understand that he wanted to lock me in with the initial $45, but I wouldn't have risked failing a smog check and a shop that charges for retests, which as I said before, he said the first recheck was free within 30 days. Obviously now I realize that they charge for retests, but one would assume that if the owner of a shop tells you something, that you can go on his word because he is the one who ultimately makes the decisions. read more

So i get off work at 4 and hauled ass to this other smog place nearby my house..i get there by 430 and they said they are full and they close at 5pm ..so are the 5 other places i called for a smog..im pissed , just dropped 400.00 for a new catalytic converter a week ago and I've broken this new part in by now and my check engine has not reared its fugly little face..my registrations incomplete I've paid for the first part online to avoid any late fees..but to get the tags I need the damn smog..my reg has been expired since the 18th of June and i can't afford a damn ticket..time is of the essence and its time for a smog asap.. This place is awesome , fast convenient honest and affordable.. its small so you might pass it a few times lol AND it closes at 6pm (hells yes) you see everything In plain sight and it was unreal how fast that shit was ..the guy who passed my car was friendly as well , doesn't hurt to have good customer service..
