I go in and ask for a soft pack of Newport 100 she brings me a box along with my other stuff I ordere. I looked at the pack and ask is that a box, she ignores me and proceeds to check me out. I say to myself ok I don't have my glasses so maybe I'm tripping. So I get my bag check the cigarettes and it's a box so I say I asked for a soft. She says we don't sell those. I ask her why wouldn't she say that. She immediately got rude and I say so you not gone refund my money. So she point me to the no refund sign and tell me to leave the store. Amazing quaint liquor store. Went in this morning looking to purchase a bottle of bourbon and was blown away by the selection. Upon selecting a bottle the sales associate suggested the same bottle but it was part of a gift box with 2 whiskey glasses. Such a nice selection touch: outstanding customer service. They have an okay selection of wine, especially at cheaper price ranges. It isn't anything to write home about in terms of quality, and they don't have much in the way of higher end wines, but it's a small local shop. If you go in expecting that, you won't be disappointed and can probably find a cheaper bottle to gift to someone. They do have some that are good, at least, though the prices are quite marked up. The reason I'm giving this 3 stars instead of 2 is the pretty extensive selection they have from Croatia and similar countries you rarely see represented in wine stores. If you are looking for that, come here! Otherwise you'll find a larger and more varied selection elsewhere. read more

Nice place but the guy they hire to glare at you to make sure you don't steal stares a little too hard and follows you through the store, and frankly it's a bit insulting - it's borderline a tv skit level. read more

Dear Broadway Wine & Liquors, You're totally getting another star from me and here is why: Still cramped but I feel like in the past year they've really done a lot to improve their organizational system and customer service the past 3 times I've been here has gone through the roof! Really love how they have 2 shelves right in front of the register with GOOD inexpensive wine options on them - of all varieties. The rest of the store is still broken down by locations of origin and they have a fantastic selection of vodkas, rums, whiskeys, scotches, etc. Amazing selection of personals too, this makes me super happy on those bright, sunny days in which picnics are in order and so is road juice or spiked Dunkin Donut berry coolatas...congrats on going from 3 stars to 4 - you guys make me smile. Amazing place! The lady at the cashier was very friendly, I came here on a Saturday at 9:30am and was in a rush. Grabbed a Grey Goose bottle, which she even wrapped for me as a gift. This store is fine, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit. The shelves are super stocked, but it feels pretty cramped in here. I was worried that I would knock something over, and I didn't even have a purse with me. I had a hard time navigating my way around here, and the only employee out on the floor wasn't there to answer questions. He was there to make sure nobody was stealing. I felt like I was being watched the whole time. It's good security, but it ended up distracting me from my job at hand. The prices were decent. Their wine selection was alright. I just prefer a little more space. If I find myself in need of wine and I'm up in that area of Astoria again, I would stop in. This is _not_ the store with the understocked shelves. That store is "best on broadway, inc.", signed "best on broadway wines and liquors". In contrast, this store's shelves are maxed out. The selection here is pretty good. They have the general liquor selection you've been fiending for, plus some of the more uncommon options in case you want to branch out. The price tags work for me. Don't expect a lot of ambiance. It's a liquor store in queens, and it bloody well looks like one. read more

I am always worried about stores that I enter and the shelves are bare. Is the store a front for the mob? Did they just have a big sale that I missed? Is the owner behind the counter going to capture me and sell me into slavery? Bare shelves mean questions and from the look of Broadway Wine and Liquor, this place is full of questions. The prices are good for the stock that exists. They have several Greek wines and wines from Australia. They're very lacking in terms of American wines and white wines. They have 1 Shiraz, a few chapmagnes, a couple of bruts, half a dozen reds and...that's about it. There are probably 40 bottles, total, on the shelves. But, when you enter, you'll notice a huge pile of wine boxes ready to enter the trash. How do they make money? How do they have any business? Why are they still around? I don't know. But the red my girlfriend and I brought to a dinner party went over very well so this place can't be all bad I guess. read more

When I used to live in Astoria, I would go here. It is jammed back with stock. A pretty good selection. A few years ago, I was able to find some bargains here. The best part is the storefront sign. An old school neon sign. I can deal with the grumpy cashiers with limited English. Just don't get get rid of the sign. read more

Broadway Wine and Liquor is of all things, convenient and tiny. Man can they pack this store chock full of bottles. Clumsy shoppers beware! I am a repeat customer because of it's proximity to my apartment. It has a decent selection for what I am usually looking to pick up, ingredients for my favorite little old man cocktail, the Rob Roy. BWL is pretty no frills, but it's pretty consistent in its offerings. I like to know that if I am in a hurry, I can run to this liquor store and find what I am looking for. Associates in the store are not so much there to help you choose something to imbibe, but more so for loss prevention. They pretty much stay out of your hair, but if you ask for something they'll help out. I like to roam without being bothered so this works for me. And I always get a nice greeting there. I think this store is good for what it is, discount liquor. I think they have good prices on most items. They have a decent selection of everything although if you are a wine "snob" it may not be suitable for you. The aisles are pretty tight so if you have a bag take it off and hold it in your hand. The staff seems pleasant and has even helped me out on a decision. read more

So there's about 10 people that work in this small store. I don't know if they're security (they weren't too threatening) or stock boys (they weren't putting things on the shelf) or cashiers (nevermind there was only register with a woman already behind it) or freeloaders- but this store was packed, and I seemed to be the only one shopping - and all of the people were watching me. The aisles are a bit cramped, and their wine selection is quite good. They have a large shelf of Romanian wines- much larger than i've seen in any other place. The same goes for Greek wines. Big selection. Their American wine selection is sparse and overprices. If you want liquor, they're understocked save one shelf in the way back. This is mostly a wine joint. read more

As someone who in more into quality over quantity when it comes to wine and spirits - this is a poor choice. Selection leaves much to be desired if you're looking for an good bottle of wine or anything more particular rather than top low/mid/upper scale vodkas like georgi, svedka, and goose...but tonight - they did not even have Vanilla Vodka, not any brand. Only close alternative was coconut ciroq which was not worth the price tag for jello shots. This is usually my last resort when it comes to alcohol - only if im in a bind which is rare or sending a friend there since its less than a block from my place. I prefer 36th avenue wines/spirits or Grand which I dont go to often. read more

Nice selection, tight aisles, good prices, lots of discounted product. I've always seen the shelves as too packed, never bare and the store is pretty deep too, though narrow. The staff are friendly, but have never offered suggestions, which I've always found helpful with other wine stores - this seems to have more other varieties of alcohol than many other spirit stores. I wish I could give this place a very much deserved zero. I strolled in here around a year ago to buy a bottle of champagne for my friends engagement. The man behind the counter acted very shady when I gave them my credit card, almost as if he was writing something down. I walked out feeling uneasy, but didn't think much of it. That same night I received alerts from my Bank that there were attempted fraudulent charges. They tried to buy a monthly LIRR pass for ~$300 with my card number. Of course - it was declined, but I had to cancel the card and go through the process of getting a new one. Now oddly enough, how did I know for sure it was this place? It was the only time I had used my credit card in 2 months, and this happened the same night. Give me a break. My only regret was it took me this long to write this review. Pathetic. read more

They have an okay selection of dessert liquors - which I buy for baking. However, they do not have all dessert liquors in mini-form, which can be annoying because I do not need a large bottle of frangelico, I just need a smidge! They have a debit card minimum of $8! read more

Buyer Beware: 1 star due to very poor customer service and exorbitant prices. I made a purchase for a family members gift, and was told by my girlfriend that she had already bought the same bottle for $20 cheaper at Omega Wine and Liquor. I called the owner less than 10-minutes after buying the bottle, to explain the situation. The owner proceeded to scream and curse at me, and continued to hang up the phone.
