He comes out and checks out your job, gives you an estimate, and then does exactly what he pleases and ignores what you tell him to do. Never finalizes your job when he starts just comes out and does it the way he wants and expects payment. If you question it, he leaves, makes you wait until he is ready to come back and upcharges you for making him leave and come back. Never goes over the job before he starts when it is months after he gives your quote and you end up with what he wants to give you plain and simple. I will never hire him again for anything. You pay for what he wants you to have not what you hire him for.

I hired Jeff's to do landscaping when the fill around my foundation was washing away. The job was…read moreso poor that I had to hire a second company to redo it. Jeff's put sand in the eroded areas, which began washing away with the first rain. The fabric under the rocks was such poor quality that before long I had weeds growing right through it all over the project. They installed a water catcher with a popup drain. It never worked. I told Jeff I thought it was broken. He looked at it but said that's how they work. The second company told me the drain was broken. They fixed it. The job was horrible. Then to add insult to injury, they said to fix it would cost roughly six times what they had originally quoted. Was this a bait and switch? The company that did fix the landscaping and did a very nice job charged me less than one-third of what Jeff's second bid was. Finally, Jeff said he would refund my money if he could have the drain back. I said fine, just be sure to leave the new landscaping in the same condition it was before you removed the drain. That was a year ago. I have sent Jeff's many emails since. He doesn't even respond. As you can imagine, I never got my money back. The company that did a very nice job of repairing everything Jeff's didn't do told me that among landscapers, Jeff's has a very poor reputation. The only good thing I have to say about Jeff's Landscaping is that the men who did the work were very diligent, friendly, and hardworking. Jeff's has great people working for him but he doesn't send out the appropriate materials to get the job done, and he doesn't know what he's doing when he quotes, apparently.

I would not recommend Dupont Decks based on my experience…read more I invested nearly $55,000 in a custom deck, including paying thousands of dollars extra for the structural requirements necessary to support a future four-season porch. That future porch wasn't just a verbal discussion--it was specifically included in my contract and was a major reason I chose this company. Unfortunately, the workmanship has been disappointing from the beginning. The deck boards are uneven and improperly installed, allowing water to pool and collect against the house. There are noticeable gaps in trim and wrapping, the stairs have settled and developed a dip that has caused the railing to bow, and even the stair lights have begun pulling out because of the movement. Whenever I raised concerns, I was repeatedly told everything looked fine or that I needed to wait over a year for the deck to "settle." When the problems continued, the responsibility shifted to me instead of the workmanship. The most disappointing discovery came later. I recently learned that the deck did not pass the county requirements for supporting the future four-season porch that was included in my contract. I now have to spend thousands of additional dollars correcting work that should have been completed properly from the start. What frustrates me most isn't that problems occurred--construction projects can have issues. It's the unwillingness to accept responsibility and the repeated attempts to explain away legitimate concerns rather than deliver the quality and contractual obligations I paid for. For such a significant investment, I expected quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a company that would stand behind its work. Instead, I was left with ongoing workmanship issues, additional unexpected expenses, and a deck that has fallen well short of what was promised.
