One of the BEST ice cream parlor in the Bensalem area. I was on my way home and got a taste for some ice cream and no I didn't want Rita's. Yelp and found Brodie's. The best part? Brodie's have a extended hour of operation during the Summer months. Even though it says is closed at 9pm on Yelp, but is actually 10pm. And sometimes the later crew is pretty rude right? Not at Brodie's, the cashier had a huge smile while taking my orders. I would say I was a bit difficult because I want to know the difference between banana and banana pudding ice cream. I wasn't rude or mean or anything, just questions lol. And she answers them without annoyance and a huge smile. That's definitely a plus these days. This place has really gone downhill recently. Unsanitary conditions observed. Staff is slow and clearly overcharging. Prices are clearly displayed. It's a shame, this used to be a great spot, but I'm done visiting. Stopped in Wednesday 4/30. Asked the kid for a small hot fudge sundae with wet walnuts. Small Sunday is 5.99 which comes with 2 scoops, 1 topping (fudge), whipped cream and cherry. Extra toppings 1.29. With tax that's 7.72. Kid rang me up at 8.99. I knew it was wrong but there was a line and they were busy so I sucked it up. I even tipped him. Today (5/3) I stopped in again. Ordered a small hot fudge sundae. No extra toppings. Girl rang me up 8.78 with tax. Should have been $6.35. She walked away before I completed the sale, so I held off. Before she had a chance to start making my sundae, the couple that was in line before me came back to the window and got her attention because the milkshakes they ordered were way too thin. I watched them swirl the cups and their shakes were the consistency of milk. I get it, mistakes happen. No big deal, right? Well I watched this girl take both of those shakes, which had now been contaminated by the customers who returned them, and put them right into a stand up freezer. Food safety standards dictate that they should have gone right into the trash. What is the intention? Gonna let 'em thicken up in the freezer and serve them to the next customer who orders one? Big violation. While the girl went to remake the shakes, she asked an older gentleman (owner, maybe?) to make my sundae. This guy just finished unloading his car. I noticed that because he pulled in right before me. He went straight from unloading his car to making my order without even thinking about washing his hands. I get that they're using scoops etc, but this is still a safety standard violation. Then I watched him take a scoop of fudge, which was clearly not in a warmer, and scrape that scoop into a random white plastic bucket that happened to be sitting on the counter. When he walked to the back with said container and slapped it into the microwave to heat up the fudge, I had enough. I'm not trying to have plastic from a container not rated for microwave use (which may not have even been clean) leached into my fudge. Fortunately I had not yet completed the sale on their computer so I canceled it and walked away. You guys need to get your act together. Take a food safety class. Make sure your pricing on the register matches your pricing on the menu taped to the counter in front of it. In the mean time, I'm letting everyone I know about your poor practices. read more

I finally stopped by Brodie's to enjoy some Ice Cream with my son on a late summer afternoon. The staff was young and not too personable, but they scooped ice cream just fine so I'm good with that. They have several menu's with various cold, icy treats and simple food eats. Ice cream wise they serve Richman's, which is a solid brand. After looking up and down the menu at over a dozen flavor options, the winning flavors for that day were Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup for me and Death by Chocolate for my son. Both were in a cup and medium sized which is 2 generous scoops. We took advantage of the outdoor seating in the shade and enjoyed our frosty treats! At $6 and change for our ice cream, I thought that was a good value. I'll definitely return again. read more

It was a late afternoon, and I wanted a milkshake while my SO wanted some water ice (and for whatever reason the first one or two places we stopped didn't have any good flavors), so we thought we'd try Brodie's since it is right down the road from us. It wasn't crowded at this time, but usually I can spot a pretty long line most times I drive by (especially summer evenings). They have soft serve and hand dip ice cream (a small up-charge on the hand dip) as well as water ice, gelati, milkshakes, smoothies, sundaes, banana splits, and also funnel cake. I saw a sign for soft pretzels too, but I didn't spot any when I was here. I figured I might as well go big and try their best milkshake while I was here, so I got the large (it was pretty big!) hand-spun Death by Chocolate milkshake with Oreo cookies in it. It was super tasty and there were lots of big chunk of Oreo! Being that it's hand spun, it did take a long time for the man to make it. I do think he actually made the shake with regular chocolate instead of the death by chocolate (just going off from taste and color of them on the menu). My SO got the banana berry water ice and loved it! I'd definitely return and recommend this place to others- but serving time took quite a while, so if you see a line, expect to be waiting quite a while. read more

I love this place! It's cute and has little tables to eat outside. They have a bunch of sundaes with homemade waffle bowls--highly recommend. That's what's in the picture except they were out of waffle bowls that nice. Service is great, prices are fair. Great option open year round! read more

After a few years of not buying funnel cake I decided to give it one more try. Shame on me. I knew better. The funnel cake was frozen and they reheated it in the fryer. I came to the former Ice Cream establishment here and was not very impressed, as it looked pretty run down and the ice cream was just mediocre. Brodie's has done a nice job of trying to bring back that local ice cream shop feel with umbrella tables outside to sit and plenty of options for delicious treats. For starters they are open until 10 PM which is amazzzzing! I'm currently pregnant, and most ice cream places shut down around 7 or 8 pm, which is too early for my ice cream cravings. Second, they have very reasonable prices for huge portions, which I also appreciate considering how often I come here. And most importantly their ice cream tastes homemade and fresh. One of my favorite flavors is the salted caramel pretzel, and unlike in other places where you get stale pretzel pieces, here they are still nice and crunchy! I would also like to add that they have other treats like fried oreos, funnel cake fries, hot dogs, and basically anything you want to eat from the shore without having to drive there. They are always very friendly here and the cutest thing of all is that they have a huge sign that says free sprinkles for everyone! I mean, who doesn't love sprinkles?? If you haven't visited already, make sure to stop by, plenty of parking and easy to spot. read more

This was my first visit to Brodie's, I wanted to try something different than your usual Rita's, DQ or friendly's.I absolutely love that this place has such a great variety of soft serve, hard ice cream & water ice. They even have fried Oreos and funnel cake. They have soo many toppings to choose from, Swedish fish, nerds, mint cookies. I decided to get a small sundae with chocolate ice cream with marshmallow and hot fudge toppings. It was delicious. They do have signs posted "jimmies" are free but you have to ask for them, they don't automatically put them on. I'm giving them 4 stars because the service was painfully slow, there was 8 of us and it took around 15-20 minutes for everyone to get what they ordered. They had 3 young workers working. I'm not sure if they were short staffed but I'm willing to come here again, because it was decent ice cream & everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. read more

I used to love Brodies but they have gone downhill in the last 3 yrs. Last year I got a sundae but the soft ice cream was freezer burnt. It was not the consistency soft ice cream should be and you can tell that they don't change it often. I thought maybe it was just a mistake so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried it again and it's the same exact thing. Soft ice cream should not have chunks of ice in it. I paid almost 8 dollars for a sundae that I had to throw away. They need to change and/or keep up on their machines and whatever else they need to do. Who knows the last time it has been cleaned or changed out. What a waste of money yet again. read more

Brodie's ice cream is a must in Bensalem. We went here today after axe throwing at Stumpy's nearby. The service was great and Brodie himself was behind the counter scooping our ice cream! We talked to him about how he started his business and he was so sweet and pleasant to talk to. You could tell he really loves what he does! On top of all that, the ice cream was actually delicious! Watered down thin runny milk shakes. No where worth what they cost. Quality of the ice cream was poor. What little was used for the shake. Perhaps if they made a thicker shake you could actually taste the flavor. It was thinner than milk. Hot dog supposed to be deep fried and it was not. Cold roll. Can't speak too much for the quality of the product. I ordered a milkshake - seemed a little pricey but nothing out of control. Busy summer night with a decent line. At first it appeared that only one person was working. After about almost 10 minutes with the line not moving at all, another person came out to help. She came out to give a waiting customer a hot dog. Not sure why it took so long for her to return to help other customers. Both girls working were courteous but seemed a little slow. The set up of the store appeared that nothing was close by. They needed to completely walk towards the back of the store for all of their supplies and machines which probably added to how long it was taking. They were very courteous and seemed to be doing their best. The part that was really disappointing - the owner was sitting just next to the window watching TV right in plain view of all of his customers. Stopped today for quick window takeout lunch, extremely disappointing.Ordered 2 Nathan's Hot Dogs...pretty much the most poorly prepared hot dogs I have ever had, carts & 7-11s included. Extra charge for kraut, ADDITIONAL extra charge for a smidgeon of onions... Still would've been OK if the bun hadn't been such poor quality that it was like a piece of white bread dipped in water... I guess the water from the kraut had been slopped onto it. ..it fell apart completely while eating. Service was pleasant enough. I was going to get some ice cream for dessert, but the prices for everything were VERY high & I wasn't going to waste more money after the hot dogs. Don't think I will try again. read more

I went here last night and got one of their blendies. It was much more milkshake-like than many other blended ice cream treats I have previously had. I probably could have used a straw. That's not to say that it wasn't yummy, it just wasn't quite what I expected. I was also surprised that they put whip cream on their blendies, which isn't something I expected or asked for, and is personally not my cup of tea. The service was very slow and only one person appeared to be working, however I did enjoy my creation. I was impressed with their menu and variety of toppings. I'm sure I will be back. read more
