I've been a patient at Southwest Michigan Dermatology for many years. My doctor, Dr. Mohney, is…read moreextremely thorough and super nice guy. During my latest skin check visit a few weeks ago, he found a mole that had an odd shape, they took a biopsy, and a week later called and told me it was benign. Thank goodness. I have in the past had precancerous moles removed and Dr. Mohney and staff were professional and treated me with kindness and respect. It can be hard to get an appointment if you are not a current patient, as they are extremely busy and everyone is concerned about skin cancer. But I understand they are hiring new PAs, which will help ease the pressure.

I would never recommend Southwest Michigan Dermatology to anyone. Their office is chaotic. (Maybe trying to instill some calm over all of the other stimulation). It just added to the stress vibe. Every 30 seconds assistants call in a patient, two entry doors constantly opening and closing. Obviously, they are moving as many patients as quickly as possible. I was there for a pyogenic granuloma on the sole of my foot - similar to a blood blister but worse. Although the doctor who saw me was efficient, it was a no frills system with no preparation. He looked at my foot, told me what they were going to do - right then and there. He left the room and an assistant came in to numb my foot with Lidocaine injections. I've never experienced this before and there was no warning as to how painful it would be. There was no initial pre-numbing of the surface area, just 5 incredibly painful injections around the site. I've since researched, and there are topical lidocaine options to apply prior to giving the extremely painful injections. Apparently SMD can't waste the time making that an option for patient comfort. The doc came back in and did a curettage and cautery, taking samples for biopsy and I assumed, removing all of the lesion tissue. It all happened very quickly - In spite of the trauma of the experience, I hoped this would at least take care of the issue. It unfortunately did not, as the lesion returned as if nothing happened. Larger and more painful. I knew that I would absolutely not go back to SMD and have instead gone to Forefront Dermatology. Forefront was calm, collected and competent - office environment, staff and medical personnel. They assessed my lesion and told me that due to the fact that the granuloma came back and is so large, I will most likely need plastic surgery to accurately remove all of the tissue.

First for a scheduled aneurysm flow diverter placement by Dr. Kreitel with one night in neuro ICU. Two months later for a brain bleed from a skiing accident when I stayed overnight in neuro ICU again. Excellent care again by ER staff and neuro ICU nurses. Two days later I stayed another night for a suspected brain rebleed... I don't know how ER staff handles the chaos. Nearby a man threatened 3 security guards & a nurse. They took care of it and In think maybe he was arrested, not sure. Anyway I share this because I was originally taken by ambulance to Bronson where they removed my C Collar, plopped me in a wheelchair where I couldn't hold my head up...and it turns out I sat there ignored with a subarachnoid hemorrhage...That was after I told them my helmet was cracked in 1/2, I was on blood thinners and needed a stat CT to rule out a bleed cuz I had brain surgery 2 months prior... Bronson ignored me so I had my son come get me, called Borgess neurosurgery who ordered a brain CT, then admitted to Borgess. At this point, I'm team Borgess all the way.

Most negligent dangerous care we've ever seen, STAY AWAY. I have received hormone replacement…read moretherapy from this clinic for almost three years. Around the beginning of the year they switched my pcp to somebody who did not even understand the english I was saying, he wrote a dangerous reckless unintelligible prescription, any doctor would know that writing "put three estradiol patches on every single day" is ludicrous. IT DOESNT EVEN MAKE SENSE LOGICALLY. This guy seriously wrote that and saw nothing wrong with it. Absolutely DANGEROUS MALPRACTICE, thats not even the worst part. This issue has been brought up to them several times now, they tested my estradiol levels and they were almost 900, the doctors then look at me and say "well its not dangerous because its not over 1,000, because thatd hurt your liver" ARE YOU KIDDING ME. My body has been destroyed and my life bas been taken from me by this disgusting reckless clinic. THEY LITERALLY ASKED ME IF THATS A COMFORTABLE LEVEL, LIKE IM THE FUCKING DOCTOR, they have destroyed my entire endocrine system.

A 12-year-old child who is not overweight! The lack of attention to symptoms and what the visit is actually for is mind-boggling. I under that these people are students, but performing the wrong test is inexcusable. And the condescending tone the staff took to tell me her "bad" cholesterol is a little bit above normal wasn't appropriate or appreciated either.
