David Ellis, who manages(?)/owns(?) Focal is both a published Haiku poetry writer and artist, and mentioned how he frequently host works of artists. Since Focal isn't grand in size in any way- the Art here and how it engages the City Island community (and beyond), is what matters. Even the Saturday my sisters and I visited, Focal's art pieces are staged and well thought out. With a keen eye for talent, this gallery presents art in a variety of unexpected ways- even his son and local kids, showcased their art in mini easels. Oh, and it costs $0 to come here.

The reason the price was high because every single element of his Art makes people excited. Alexander Calder is the creator of the mobile, inspired by Piet Mondrian and Joan Miro. And the name 'mobile' given by Marcel Duchamp, very famous for the 'Fountain'. I was also very excited to see many art piece of Alexander Calder at once and never visited to buy and negotiate the price of the Art. My first time experience. The gallery manager was very kind and explained everything we wanted. I will come back as many as possible.

Artwork on display were from Artists including: Anthony Boone, Khalid Sabree (focus on Jazz + The New Harlem Renaissance), Sophisticatedcookie, Rudy Collins (focus on Black Influentia/Prominent Figures like James Baldwin), Ricky Day (focus on Harlem Brownstone Architecture - Harlem Scenery), Magdala Charles (focus on Female Empowerment + Freedom), etc. My favorite masterpieces at this exhibit were those created by Artist Daryl Daniels that focused on everyday people and the illustrations of children on the bus were so cool! Artist Amber Lodman discussed her artistic inspirations and detailed the process of how she creates her beautiful artwork. Ranging from, colorful, bold Harlem Afrocentric pieces to Minimalist Pieces, everything was gorgeous. Special thanks to Owners Phyllis and Dodji Gbedemah for their kindness and it was truly nice to meet them. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, masks and social distancing are stressed and everyone vwalking throughout the gallery seemed respectful of these requests. There's ample space in the left and right sides of the front to hang up artwork, have a circle of chairs for discussions, etc. In the back, there's more artwork and a great place to have refreshments. There's also a couple bathrooms in the middle. Everything's clean and I just went here for an event for LOVE (Leave Out Violence). It was a great venue to use to see the students put up their photos, do some recordings, a group discussion, etc. Yay for helpful space!
