I highly recommend this class for the little ones. Ms. Clara's curriculum, lol, is perfect for the age groups. Going there on the weekend and then picking up some some brunch afterwards is the highlight of our week. Our toddler loves it and she became a pro with the ball game and is appropriately challenged with the other activities including the music pieces. I can't begin to express how wonderful our experience has been so far! First, we love Ms. Nina. She is so patient and kind with our timid girl. With each week, we notice her wanting to be more and more involved during class, while still being encouraged to go at her own pace. Now, most surfaces in our house are "drums" on which G tickles and knock-knocks all day long, and "clapping our hands/rolling our arms/wiggling around as slowly/fast as we can" has led to SO much fun together at home for weeks now. I cannot say enough to as to how amazing these classes are! My son is in his second set of classes (he is 19 months) and we just love the singing/ interaction and growth for him! The classes are very relaxed, all sit in a circle and the babies get to learn new songs/ learn about rhythm and have fun interacting with other babies/kids. Ms Clara is a wonderful person, she is kind/ understanding and definitely makes everyone feel welcome and warm. Highly recommended!!!!!! Ms. Clara's music classes are so incredibly perfect for encouraging children to learn important social etiquette including sharing, taking turns, and cleaning up after yourself. My son is generally shy in group settings, so...it's truly amazing how quickly he opens up and participates by singing and performing the musical gestures. He's in his 3rd class, and we have already signed up for the next session. Another awesome thing is that each class consists of different songs while keeping a few favorites to maintain familiarity for the children. Plus, my son and I sing the songs together at home which often helps when things get a little crazy...if you know what I mean. My daughter and I have been attending classes at Ms. Clara's for a year now (she's just over two). We love it! It's amazing the impact that music has had on my daughter. It's such a big part of our play at home and finds its way into our daily routines in many ways. It is a great way for her to have some structure while also being able to explore music and movement. This past session we had music class with Ms. MacKenzie. When signing up for classes I noticed that she was a new teacher and I wasn't sure if we should sign up for one of her classes or not. My niece has been attending Ms. Clara's classes since she was 1 yrs. old. we didn't attend class last fall and every week my niece, now 4-1/2, asked when she could go back to class. Great class! I like this class because 1) teacher has talent, 2) class is well structured with a ton of different songs and instruments(think wooden sticks, egg shakers, triangle thing) and predictable(which helps our babies learn), 4) class size is small with the babies being close in age 3) location is easy to get to - away from the hustle and bustle of Lake St. I can say my baby has gotten something out of the class, it's helped with her development, and I would swear she has now has a 'sense' of music- singing(babbling in song), banging stuff together to make noise, clapping her hands to her legs, but hey, maybe that's just me being a proud mama :) and mama has gotten something out of the class too, it's a great reason to get outside of the house, meet other parents with babies in the area, and just do something different with your baby! I like strolls as much as the next person, but after the bazillionth one, it's nice for a little change in the daily routine! read more

This is my daughters favorite place! She asks everyday when her next music class is. She can't wait to sing and dance with her friends. This class has taught her more songs than I can count, given her confidence and helped her make friends. I would suggest these classes to kids if any age. My daughter (now almost eleven months) and I have been attending Ms. Clara's Munchkin Maestros class since she was just six months and I definitely believe this class has been a big part of the development of her social and motor skills. We love Ms Clara's Mini Musicians! Our 2 y.o. son gets such a kick out of playing the various instruments and now has started singing the songs in the car on the way home from music class and at home. The class has really helped him to overcome his shyness and "insecurity" of crowds and active groups of people and children. Now he fits right in and asks to go to class all the time. Hi Ms. Clara! Here's a funny story for you: Nate loves his barnyard toy animals at home, and so now he's started chanting the "Two little apples sitting in a tree, two little apples smiling at me..." song from music class, except he substitutes "piggies" for apples and then laughs hysterically! We love our Mini Musicians class! My son just turned a year old and we have been going for about 4 months now. He really loves going and seeing other kids, listening to the songs, and playing with the instruments. Our regular weekly teacher is Ms Amy and she is awesome. When she starts to sing, my son just stares at her for a little bit and is mesmerized! He loves the "rolling the ball" song, the peekaboo song, and shaking the egg shakers song the best. He gets a big smile on his face when he recognizes the songs. We sing them at home too! We also had his first birthday party at the Joyful Learning Center. Ms Clara came and entertained the kids with songs and instruments. They had a great time. She was really great to work with and the space is good to have a birthday party. read more

My daughter love's Ms. Clara's music class!! She was only 4 months old at her first class and could not stop watching Ms. Clara and all the other kiddos sing. We recently signed up for the winter session and immediately downloaded the songs so we could listen to them in the car. This week we had our first snow fall during rush hour...eeek! I had a crying baby in the back seat, in snowy traffic and the minute I put on Ms. Clara's CD she stopped crying and listened happily to all the songs as we made it home. We were told about Ms. Clara's when we moved to the area by another mom. We tried a class when my son was 9 months old and we have been doing classes ever since. I absolutely love this place! My son doesn't always sing along in class but he enjoys singing the songs at home. It's so wonderful to see how much they get out of these classes. Having the music on my phone now has been great so we can play it in the car and sing songs together. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great activity with your child. Also, I would like to add that I love the structure of the class. The teachers are laid back but also have rules to help teach the children structure and I think that is very important. "Toys away, toys away, it's time to put our toys away". This song brought tears to my eyes yesterday when I came home to my son's room a complete disaster area. I was exhausted and the last thing I wanted to do was spend an hour picking up toys. I sat in my rocking chair and starting singing a song we learned in Ms. Clara's class. To my surprise, my 16 month old CLEANED HIS ROOM while I sat singing in my chair. My son loves music class. He loves Ms. Clara. He loves to slap his knees and sing along. Big ups to Ms Clara! Her classes are fun, structured, and, I believe, genuinely beneficial to children. My son has been attending her classes for about 6, 6-week sessions through our Parks and Rec Department, and they've been great. He genuinely looks forward to going, and when there is a two week break between class sessions, he starts asking me when we'll next be going to Ms Clara's music class. Ms Clara starts and ends each class with the same song, with songs in between changing with the seasons (but otherwise repeated during the seasons, so it's predictable and comfortable for the kids, but not boring). She brings out a drum and a triangle, along with a variety of shakers, for kids to use during the songs. The children learn how to wait for their turn, how to share, and clean up. I find my son (and me, too) singing Ms Clara's songs when we're not in class. Great classes! read more

My son attended Ms. Clara's class for the recent fall session. He's 2.5 and this class has really helped open up the world of music to him. The classes are well organized with a good variety of songs each week and they give the kids a chance to make music with drums and triangles, get up and jump around, and sing and share and practice instructions. Ms. Clara and Ms. Amy are both quite pleasant and patient with the kids. My family really looks forward to the weekly classes and I can't recommend Ms. Clara highly enough. read more

Ms. Clara is amazing! We have been taking our son to her music classes since he was 4 months old. Now, at 21 months he is able to do all the movements, ask for songs at home, and is even starting to sing along! I think this class has helped his language development without a doubt! Some of his first words and phrases have been from music class. Just last week, at the end of class he said, "Adios!" which is how Ms.Clara always ends the very last song! At home, we sing a song from class to clean up his toys and he knows exactly what to do!! We love Ms. Clara's! We started the Fall session in the midst of my son's terrible 2's phase. By the end of the session I really noticed a difference in his behavior! He was able to see turn-taking and attention modeled by his peers. We love Ms. Clara's. We've taken classes with both Ms. Clara and Ms. Amy. The songs in the class are different then a lot of familiar kid's songs. They change the songs for the seasons and each session has two parts. So you'll do the same class for half of the session. The repetition really starts to pay off if you take multiple classes. This is my daughter's second session and it is really cute to see her sing, do body motions and play the instruments. She has learned a lot. It is a fun, laid back, musical learning opportunity and gives a parent a nice full hour to play and interact with his/her child. The class size is small, which is great. As a working mom, I feel like I miss out on so much with my son. This class has given us something great to do together that really makes me feel like I'm learning new things with my son. My 1 year old has just finished his first class with Ms. Clara, and it's been great for both of us. My son is definitely learning new skills, and I'm learning new things that we can do together when we are at home. These are my favorite things about the class. 1. Ms. Clara is a hit with the kids--they are totally fascinated with her and she really keeps their attention. 2. The pacing of the class and the songs is quick--we move quickly from song to song and prop to prop (scarves, rattle eggs, a triangle) which keeps my son and I interested and engaged. 3. We do the same thing every, single class, which is great for my son. He is starting to learn how to do different activities, and I think the consistency makes that happen. 4. She gets little kids. Sometimes they wander around, they all put things in their mouths, they try to steal the triangle or the ball from her, and she is always incredibly patient and easy going with them (while always keeping the class moving). 5. She flexible with the class schedule. If you are going to miss a class, she offers a chance for you to come to a different section of the same class during the week, as well as a make up session at the end of the class. I definitely would recommend this if you are looking for something fun and enriching to do with your little one. read more

My son just turned 1 and we have been attending Ms. Clara's music class since he was 6 months. At first I was skeptical if a 6 month old could get anything out of any class. but Ms. Clara was holding a sample class for all ages. at our local farmer's market so I stopped to check it out. She also offers the opportunity to attend an actual free trial class that is geared toward your child's age group. After seeing how my son reacted at both of these - I signed up. The teachers have beautiful voices, they don't just think they can sing they really can. Ms. Clara's voice fascinates my son and now he can't wait to crawl to her and give her a big hug every week when we arrive. I have seen his memory, motor skills and and even understanding of language increase week to week. And seems like every week he takes something away from class that he starts doing at home.
