We love our home built in 2018. Ernst makes great use of the space and we get many compliments on…read moreour home. Sadly, our floors squeek and the contractor who finished the hardwood floors didn't stain under the stove (who does that?) The drywall work is terrible, the paint was put on the walls very thin and on the trim, very thick so that it cracks. Carpet was laid over a glob of concrete in the basement so there is a definitive lump in the middle of the floor, oh, and the contractors were using a bucket in the basement to urinate in while the home was under construction. There are some things I would have done differently but all in all, we still love our home despite the shoddy workmanship of the finishers. I think Ernst could do a better job in monitoring these contractors to ensure quality work is being done.

When coming over for the initial quote he offered some design tips like putting a colored tile stripe in the shower which really made it pop. The tile work they did on our shower and floor looks fantastic, as well as the rest of the work they did. Their price was very competitive with other contractors. Ultimately we choose Carlson because Chris went into detail about how he would seal up our shower that was leaking behind the walls, the materials he would use, etc. When other companies just threw out a number. Chris and his crew went above and beyond to make sure our bathroom was done right. I would definitely recommend them.

We had a raccoon tear a hole in our chimney. Water got in and pretty quickly wrecked the stack, the…read moreroof, and the flue. It was a huge job. But it was amazing how difficult it was to find someone to even give us a quote. The chimney is 'Pre-fab', so there's no actual stone or brick, just a flue surrounded by the stack. This is apparently a no-no in the chimney contractor world. Of the 15 companies I contacted, only three gave us a quote. The rest referred us to general contractors (which insurance wasn't allowing). And the ones who did come out wouldn't even quote a full replacement, they suggested we rip the stack off, roof over it and call it a day ($12K to not even have a working fireplace anymore!) Enter the saviors at Sleep Easy Chimney. They were the only company that gave me a quote for an actual rebuild at a reasonable price that insurance could get behind. The construction process was a breeze. Every guy on the crew was great. They were very communicative to any options we had (trim, stone type, stove, etc). They didn't even mind our enormous, spastic dog jumping on them at every opportunity. And we upgraded to a stove that looks amazing. Can't wait for winter so we can break this thing in! My house was built in 1912, and when we bought it, it was clear that the exterior side door had…read moreseen heavy use for a long time. In fact, the door was practically falling to pieces, barely opened, didn't have a deadbolt that latched, and was secured by the type of interior flip-over bar that you see in hotel rooms. It certainly wasn't usable! Clearly, this needed to be addressed. We first had a custom wood door made, sized a little bit big to allow for fitting. But of course, it needed to be installed, and the door frame, threshold, etc. were all in rough shape. Now, the husband is a handy guy, but it was pretty obvious that this project was way above his pay grade. I called ten different handyman services and half of them didn't even call me back, but Bill promptly returned my message and made an appointment to come actually look at the job (I didn't trust anyone giving an estimate from a texted photo!). It was clear from that visit that Bill really understood what was involved and was both able and willing to do a quality job, which was very reassuring. He emailed a nicely detailed estimate, and I was able to put a deposit on a credit card online. Bill was also very easy to reach via text message, which was great. It took a month or two to get worked into Bill's schedule (weather didn't help, as this couldn't be done in the rain), but once he got started, he made our job his top priority. All in all, it took something like five days and involved building a new (square) door frame, fitting and hanging the new door, putting in and keying the knob and deadbolt, installing a new threshold, painting the door, frame, and trim, and even filling in the concrete and caulking along the edge of the house to help prevent water from coming in. I can't even begin to describe all the skills it took to make this happen, and the end result is a GORGEOUS, FUNCTIONAL door that I can't wait to actually use. Needless to say, I can't recommend Bill highly enough. If you want something done right and you're willing to pay for quality, give him a call! I've already got another job in mind for Bill, and he will definitely be my go-to handyman in the future. I can't imagine letting anyone else work on my house!

Our new house had no towel bars, hand towel bars, or toilet paper holders, so we had Bill install…read moreones we bought. He did a great job and all are mounted sturdily and level. He also hung several sets of curtain rods, two door viewers, and built a replacement step/landing for the door that leads into the house from the garage. The one we had was too small and he replaced it with one he built by hand and it is extremely well-built and looks great! Very high quality work, does what he says he will do, and does it when he says he will do it. Might be a slight bit more expensive than your average handyman, but you definitely get what you pay for.

Ryan came back with several design proposals and we chose the one that fit our needs. He took the time to look at the current configuration and warned us about a possible future expense when the project got underway. He was on site to supervise the project, his subs were outstanding and the kitchen was finished on time. We decided last minute to change the flooring and he made it work. Ten years in, I still love the look and with a large family, the durability has been unmatched. I called to ask for a drawer slide that I had broken. Ryan sent his repairman out and installed a new one at no charge. I highly recommend Crown Cabinetry and Ryan!

We contracted this company based upon the recommendation of a former neighbor. First of all, I have…read morecommunicated our issues with the owner. I have, also, told him that our impression of the quality of the cabinets is highly satisfactory. But, the job was a complete kitchen and more than just one issue arose with regard to other work. The most significant is that during the project, their tile layer stopped working for a couple of weeks due to COVID-19 and another tile layer was brought in to lay what we were led to think was a tile that closely matched our existing tile. Project manager brought a sample which was very close to the color of our tile. We agreed it was a good choice because of the tile we had. We found out, after it was installed, that it came in a batch that contained several lighter colors. It just happened that the sample brought by the project manager was one that was very close to the color of our existing tile. Most of what was installed was the much lighter colors. I notified the owner in September that we were not satisfied with the tile work, that grout was dry and coming out when I tried to clean. He set an appointment to come on September 23. He got to our front door and informed me that he wasn't coming in as he had just received a call that his son was going for medical care as he might have the virus. Obviously, I was glad he didn't take any chance with our health. I heard nothing from him so I texted him on 10/21/20 to ask if his son was okay. He replied quickly letting me know that it was not the virus. On 10/23/20, I texted "Do you plan to reschedule a time to address (at least the tile) issues?' He, again, replied that same day saying, "Yes. Let me look at my calendar next week. I am currently on vacation. Sorry I have not reached out before." As I have not heard from him since, I consider his actions to have "blown off my concerns." We paid for a quality job. He was very convincing in the discussion of the contract that he works do the job his customers expect. In looking back, I would not have contracted him as general contractor but would have found quality cabinets (the ones his company installed seem to be just that) but I WOULD NOT HAVE THEM DO the complete kitchen project. I would, definitely, use A DEPENDABLE REMODEL, LLC who did the demo and reinstall of the cabinets. Of course, I did not know about their work at the time as they were subs of Crown Cabinetry. The Crown Cabinetry company has two components as I learned after we were in contract. One is the Crown Cabinetry and the other is a remodeling company. I do not know the name of that company. I am going to make how he handled this be as known as I have the ability. I am sad to have the job be poor quality in some aspects but I,also, feel disillusioned by who I thought he was. The cabinets are made in Abilene, KS. The address shows the exact same street and street number there as the Blue Springs, Crown Cabinetry Showroom. That seems very odd!
