We had a raccoon tear a hole in our chimney. Water got in and pretty quickly wrecked the stack, the roof, and the flue. It was a huge job. But it was amazing how difficult it was to find someone to even give us a quote. The chimney is 'Pre-fab', so there's no actual stone or brick, just a flue surrounded by the stack. This is apparently a no-no in the chimney contractor world. Of the 15 companies I contacted, only three gave us a quote. The rest referred us to general contractors (which insurance wasn't allowing). And the ones who did come out wouldn't even quote a full replacement, they suggested we rip the stack off, roof over it and call it a day ($12K to not even have a working fireplace anymore!) Enter the saviors at Sleep Easy Chimney. They were the only company that gave me a quote for an actual rebuild at a reasonable price that insurance could get behind. The construction process was a breeze. Every guy on the crew was great. They were very communicative to any options we had (trim, stone type, stove, etc). They didn't even mind our enormous, spastic dog jumping on them at every opportunity. And we upgraded to a stove that looks amazing. Can't wait for winter so we can break this thing in! When we had the assessment, the guys were very honest with us and we realized we had gotten a bad bid previously. They explained everything and when the employee came to install, he was very friendly, explained what he was going to do again, and worked efficiently. I needed some brick work done, and called Sleep Easy based on a referral. When they came out, I was told I needed to replace a section of about 6 bricks. One of the contributing factors was that the chimney was never sealed. Thanks former homeowners :/ They gave me a quote for both replacing the bricks and sealing the chimney. I found the quote reasonable, so I decided to go with it and forego any additional quotes. I'm glad I did. I was very impressed with the section of bricks that were replaced. I was expecting it to be very obvious that they were replaced and the inconsistency would drive my OCD crazy, but it wasn't. If you didn't know, you wouldn't be able to tell there was a subtle difference. We had to schedule the sealing for another date due to weather. They make sure the chimney is dry enough to take the treatment. They came out and did a great job sealing the entire chimney. read more

I hired these guys to install a pellet stove, and not only did they forget to caulk the connection between the vent pipes in my wall, leading to black smoke inside my house, they also aren't a licensed contractor in KCMO, so I can't get a permit for the work they already did. We scheduled for our rental house's ducts to be cleaned almost two weeks ago. The day before we received a text saying the servicemen would arrive between 8-10am. The next morning rolls around and I am at the rental property for the entire two hour window and no one shows. I call and the man on the phone had trouble locating our appointment time and expressed someone was suppose to call us because they were having trouble with a trailer and van. Another hour rolls by and no one shows. Two servicemen eventually show up and then one promptly leaves to get something from Home Depot. They're at the house until 2:30pm when they tell us they can't get their vacuum to work at all. 3:15 rolls around and they pack up and leave. I wasted my tenants time and my own time. It was a working day and I wanted to get the job accomplished. Every employee I talked with blamed another employee. Two days later a women calls and asks if I'd like to reschedule. I asked if there would be a discount and she said she would do 15 vents for 250 instead of 350. I don't think the 100 dollars justifies two people missing a days work because their equipment wasn't prepared and didn't work. While they were at the house we asked for an estimate to fix some dry rot on the side of our chimney and they quoted over 4000 dollars when other bids we got were way less. They were way out of the ball park price wise. If I were you I'd pass on this company. They're overpriced and not prepared for the job. read more

Step 3 and 4 on the company's website for having your chimney cleaned is to "thoroughly clean the firebox", "inspect the entire fireplace to make sure it's safe" and to "leave everything cleaner than they find it". I opened my fireplace a couple weeks after they "cleaned" it and found the firebox half full of ash from the previous year. I contacted the owner and he stated they typically do not remove excessive ash because it becomes to heavy for them to carry around. The owner was very responsive but in my opinion if you want half a cleaning these are your guys! read more

I found their name online and saw decent reviews so I called them to schedule fireplace/chimney inspection and cleaning. Quotes were great. It's peak time so I had to wait almost 3 weeks for my appt, understandably. I received a voicemail 5 days before telling me the time was changed to mid morning, which is when I'm at work. I called back immediately and no apology was given, basically I was told well we can't drive 40 min one way just for your appointment so we need to r/s to when we'll actually be in your area. I kinda thought that's what we originally did but whatever. I can't make that time. So she said she'd move it back to the original slot or call me back to tell me she couldn't. I didn't get a call. The next day I get a text that my appt time is now 12:30. I call again. She says oh her boss must have changed it. She'll call him and call me back. Never did. I called the next day. She says well the best time she can give me is mid afternoon. Again, I'm still at work. When I express my frustration she says well if I call during summer I can have any time and date I'd like. So I guess it's my fault even though we set the appt 3 weeks before. I told her I get that, but if they couldn't do the time I was scheduled for back then they could have just said, and I would have picked another day or another company. Now it will take me forever to get an appt since it's now December. She merely says let me know, thanks and hangs up. I call another company I find with excellent reviews. They set an appt for the same date and same time I requested originally. And good prices too. read more

We had this company come out and take care of pretty much everything we needed done at the same time. We had our air ducts cleaned our dryer vent cleaned and our chimney cleaned. Worst people I've ever dealt with. Needed a chimney rebuilt. Brett came out to look at it and gave me a quote. The quote included a new stainless steel flue that I later discovered I didn't need, but that they said I did, kind of like a mechanic who talks you into buying new brakes when yours are fine. The owner, Glen, then came out and looked at it and said it would be a little bit more than the original quote. Just a few hundred dollars. I said ok. They came out and partly installed the new flue, but couldn't complete it because they had not gotten the right parts. Said they'd be back in a few days. They didn't come back or contact me for well over a month. After all this time Glen finally calls back and says the job will be $1500 more than the original quote, and that the guy, Brett, who gave me the original quote doesn't even remember doing so. I'm not putting up with this shady business so I had them come out and take out the flue they installed before. However, during the original installation they took some parts off the stove that vents through the chimney, which I needed back but they said they lost. So now I have a non functional stove and a chimney that still needs work because of these dishonest incompetent fools. Worst experience with a contractor ever. read more
