The paint creek trail is especially popular and good for bikers. There are picnic tables and benches galore, many of which are situated overlooking the creek. They allow dogs on leashes, and mine loves swimming after the ducks here. I have not been to any events here recently, but I've heard they have Thursday night concerts in the summer and a big apples & arts festival in the fall. This park is definitely a community staple.

I first started going to this park back when Pokemon Go came out all those years ago. I had no idea what this park was all about until that first day I was playing Pokemon Go and just kept following the path on the game's map and then suddenly I looked up and realized I had walked through all of the park and into downtown...all a stone's throw away from my apartment! That started my long-term love affair with this park. I have so many fond memories in here catching Pokemon, but also coming back here with friends and with my dog for walks, playing on the play structures, glancing at the tennis courts and wondering if I should play a bit, hammocking because there are so many great hammocking trees scattered throughout the park, shopping through ARTS & APPLES, ones of the greatest festivals in metro Detroit, and so much more. This park has something for everyone and is also very accessible right off of Paint Creek Trail as well. Parking around here can be interesting, but now that I no longer live at the apartments directly across the street from this park, I find that parking at the Rochester Hills Public Library in downtown Rochester is my favorite option. There is a path that leads all the way behind the library, along the creek, to Paint Creek Trail, with an offshoot to the Rochester Municipal Park, all just a 5 minute walk from the library! This is truly a wonderful park, for fun with your friends, family, and furry ones, in all four Michigan seasons, and I'll never stop enjoying it! :)

They installed the blue light poles a few years back. Overall it is a great place to go for a run or walk or let the kids burn energy.

There seems to be abundant parking spaces and friendly police officers to guide you in and out of the parking areas.

Spencer Park is a hidden gem in Rochester Hills! It's my favorite park to spend a summer day with…read morefriends/family or by myself to a walk on the hiking path. It's open for swimming Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day with Lifeguards on duty from 8am to dusk. Last year they installed a new paved walking trail that goes around the lake. It's so much nicer than the old gravel pathway! It's approximately 1 mile around Carter Lake and it's perfect for getting your steps in. However, dogs are not allowed in the park even if they are on a leash during Memorial Day to Labor Day. During off season you can bring your dog on a leash to walk if you choose. Another strict rule to note is that no floatation devices are allowed in the water for swimming. It's a popular spot to go shoreline fishing and there's a fishing dock along with canoe, Kayak and paddle board rental. In addition, there are sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, barbecue grills, a concession stand, and a play structure. You could easily spend the whole day here and never get bored. It basically has all the same amenities that Stoney Creek offers but smaller. It cost $5 per day if you're a Rochester Hills resident or $10 for a non resident Monday through Friday and Saturday and Sunday a few dollars more $8 for resident and $15 for a non resident). You also can buy a season pass which i do every year. The season pass gets you into Bloomer Park as well. I highly recommend this local park to anyone who loves nature and the outdoors. As mentioned, there is baseball fields that are well maintained and a good size newer playscape. They have a covered pavilion with picnic tables and the bathroom was open to the public and it was clean. They have a basketball court and plenty of parking. Located right off 22 Mile, just East of Van Dyke freeway. You can park and walk over the catwalk, like I did with my kids. They waved at the traffic down below and even got passerby's to honk! Even a few big truckers! I remember doing that when I was a kid!

It's my favorite thing about living in Sterling Heights - seeing kids and teens out in nature doing what boys should be doing, instead of stuck at home glued to their phones or screens. They find many adventures along these trails and see wildlife similar to what I see driving 3 hours to our place up north. It's right in our backyard! They've always taken such good care of their parks. There's bike riding, kayaking, jogging, mountain bike trails, walking areas, and seriously the best nature you'll find within an hour and a half radius. The trails run all through Sterling Heights and end up in different parts of the city, or they'll lead you straight back to the Dodge Park or their awesome nature center!

Clinton River Heritage park was quite small, so not great for hiking or walking my doggo (I prefer avoiding sidewalks on main roads, and that would be the only nearby option to lengthen my walk). My second issue was that, once you crossed the main bridge, you pop out into a decent field, but it's directly behind a set of apartments, attached to their parking lot; not really a scenic view. That being said, Clinton River Heritage Park is still a very pretty sliver of nature in the middle of a busy city area. The views of the River are beautiful, and there are plenty of seats to sit and enjoy watching the wildlife. We came across some giant maple leaves, truly impressive, gave me a laugh comparing them to my pup. You have an available viewing dock, canoe/kayak drop in (although it looks to be currently closed), picnic tables, charcoal grills, benches, restroom, trash receptacles and a small children's play area. The parking lot is small, but honestly perfect for the needs of the park, and the cleanliness of the area was acceptable (although I cannot speak for the restrooms as I did not enter them). Overall, I think this is a great small park for the residents of the attached neighborhood/s, and great for River watching, but didn't quite fulfill my need for exercise and dog walking.

Not only is there three plays capes, there are swings, walking trails with a big pond to watch wildlife, basketball courts, volleyball courts, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and a gazebo area you can rent for parties if you please. I love walking around the pond and seeing all the ducks, geese, and squirrels. There's plenty of benches to sit and just enjoy life. No matter the time of the day or how hot or cold the weather is, there's always people here and plenty to do. A couple play grounds, basketball court, tennis courts, and baseball courts makes it a very popular place to bring the family. You can also fish in the pond. Bring your camera and take plenty of breath taking photos. Heritage Garden is a perfect spot for senior pictures, family photos and even prom photos. The park is dog friendly. Please clean up after your pet. There is literally trash cans everywhere, so also don't litter.
