I wish they would let me put no stars because thats what this place deserves. I actually worked for this shop for one day and it was a joke. The mechanics aren't allowed to socialize with each other, if they do Sean will fire you or move you to another shop, where they do half ass work also. I stopped in the other day because i needed a 40 mm torx bit for 60 seconds and the girl at the counter was a nasty bitch and I said something to her about being rude to customers....the mechanic came out from the back and he didn't even speak english. He looked like he had no clue..asked him about a torx bit and he didn't even know what i was talking about. No folks, take your bike somewhere else or you will walk out with more problems than you came in with.. read more

Went here over the weekend to purchase a scooter. The bike is listed $1999.99 online and when we arrived "Mike" decided the bike would cost $2,700. There were no bike available to take home, which he told me there were when I called prior to driving from NJ. When asked why the cost was so high, his answer was because they have to get the bike ready to ride. No where in America does it cost the price of the bike to get it street ready. Came here for a valve check (which I was told was free unless there were adjustments) and a spring tuneup. Owner was very friendly and explained everything that would be done beforehand and no charges or changes would be made without my approval, cool. I mentioned I had just changed the oil and coolant prior to storage and I don't think it needed to be done for the tuneup. Also kudos for being open somewhat early on Saturdays. Valve needed adjustments, ok fine but was told there was significant labor charges for the valve check due to getting access to the area...which again I understand but I don't think that was priced into cost. Needed to new brake pads which I agreed to but they also included a coolant and oil change along with the other spring tuneup adjustments, overall cost was over $700 which was a lot more than I expected. On bright side was offered a free oil change next time as well as a one time free riding class which I was keen on since I am a new rider and would love more instruction after the MSF. Got the oil change but could never get around to scheduling the free class and is now no longer offered which I didn't think was fair. Another bright side is they did clean my bike after the initial service which was a nice touch. read more

00pm(UPDATE:) Recently I had to get my bike serviced by another shop and I was not surprised to find out that the last mechanics that worked on my bike (Brooklyn Mayd), installed used electrical parts from a totally different bike. Sean (owner) sold me electrical hardware that he assured me were new OEM parts when in fact, that wasn't the case. Word is out on how big of thieves your shop is. Just about everyone I meet has had a bad experience with you. Now, he is replying back to customer's reviews, knowing very well he is being exposed. You gotta' be kidding me Sean !! Offering your false apologies to everyone and that's not how you do business there ?? ---- Wrong !! ---- That is how you do business there and you know it very well !! ---- You are the mastermind at scamming those you can and raping some wallets whenever possible. Very unprofessional and overly priced for no reason. I needed my bike chain cut cause it was too long, and I didnt have a chain cutter to do it, so I came over here and he wanted to charge me $50 to cut 1 link... I asked why it would cost that much and he said word for word, "take it or leave it" with no explanation. I've come here before and have always been treated like garbage -- he's either an ass naturally or is racist. I left and went to a bicycle shop and got my chain cut FOR FREE. At the start these guys were pretty good. Justin is about the only good thing there. No comment on the mechanics. With the exception of a few things like the state of the bike I bought from him, everything was pretty alright. Bike was supposed to be in working condition, all of a sudden I have to take my battery out every night to charge it since the charging system in my bike isn't doing it. Noobie mistake happens, I get got for a large repair on top of replacing dry rot tires I'd been riding around on for a week or two after buying it that came with the bike. Get those things fixed and the bike is great. Then I get pit maneuvered by a cabbie and bring my bike back. I start getting in contact with the shop and his insurance, some new girl tries to SELL ME MY OWN BIKE TWICE. He cuts me a pretty steep deal on essentially just getting my engine back to the condition it was in when he sold it to me (undid a tune and adjusted the clutch), as well as straighten out a rear set. I ride home in a heavy rain after not being on a bike for a month and my handlebars are buggy resulting in me being thrown over the bars the same day I got it out of the shop. I attempt to reach out about some parts to fix it and don't hear anything. Cabbies insurance decides not to pay I reach out to Sean for the invoice, he says he'll email me, and I never hear from him again. read more

This Place has one of the Worst Customer Services i have ever experienced, especially from the owner Sean who is a Liar, Manipulator, and a fraud who overcharges you especially if you are a new young rider who he can take advantage of... my bike was damaged and after sean checked it out he said it would be around $2,000 just in parts , next day i return to tell him im taking my bike else where and all of a sudden he says he can do the job for $1,200 and promised it'll be done in 2 weeks max, i ended up getting my bike back a month and 2 weeks later and it was filthy ... they overcharge you and then take very long to work on your bike... and the 2 times they worked on my bike they gave it back to me filthy and scratched up on brand new parts . BEWARE. I came here and purchased a scooter DESPITE some negative reviews but I REGRET this very much. Let me tell you my story. I go into the shop one day and ask for a trunk to be put onto the back on my scooter. The owner sean tells me that he is gonna get a really nice top quality one. He says 580$ and I think damn that seems expensive but I dont say anything and pay for it before its installed. I come back when it arrives and when its finally attached to my scooter its some 60$ piece of junk. When I spoke to sean he told me that He was gonna order me a rack and a trunk but only ordered this low quality trunk. I rode halfway home and the screws dug into the back of my scooter. I go back and complain and weeks later they attach a rack. I go for a ride with nothing in the 60$ trunk and it cracks completely in the back. I call up and tell sean the situation and he tells me to call him the next day around 4 and come in so he can see it but call ahead so he knows im coming. The day im supposed to go in; I call twice with no answer. When I arrive the owner comes out and says "why are you calling me so much?!" I was very confused cause I was just doing what he had told me. He looked at the broken top case and was eventually able to get me another better quality one. Also by they way when they attached the rack one of the screws dug into the back of my scooter. Long story short this was a huge hassle/waste of time and money. Come to this place if you want to be over charged and have your time wasted and bike damaged. read more

Their work on my Triumph Street Triple was impeccable, and the fact that it was finished on time and in less than 10 days was awesome -- every other shop I've ever dealt with takes more than 10 days just to order the parts. They also kept me up to date proactively and handled insurance billing without any prodding or phone-tag -- again, super rare. Went to have Ped slicer installed on brand new bike, which involves drilling two holes into fender. Paid $130 bucks. Installed too close to headlight which bent up the plates (also 130 bucks). Took it back and the moved the plates down on the fender, which involved drilling two more holes and plugging the other two. They straightened out the plates and touched them up with paint. They were supposed to call when done, but never called. I just stopped. By before they closed and picked it up. Measure twice cut once my friends. And if you screw up, at least give the option of new fender new plates, which is something I'll have to do if I sell it. Also, the repair guys yelled at me for using the shop entrance instead of the store entrance, and when you've already effed up someone's bike, probably isn't your best move. Giving two stars because they fixed it up as best they could on the same day I took it back. read more

I assumed I'd be buying through craigslist, since I just wanted a cheap starter bike, but they were selling a used bike in excellent condition that met all my specs for a *very* reasonable price. I'm new to motorcycles but research everything obsessively when I start a new hobby -- Sean was extremely helpful, informative, and responsive without being condescending. He negotiated an even better price on the bike, threw in a tuneup, delivered it to a garage while I was waiting on out-of-state plates. And he's been equally helpful and decent in counseling me through stuff like gear (and cut me a deal on gear since I bought the bike through them). His staff are all super friendly and nice too! When I came back after a week I was told that it was done, but he couldn't give me the rest of the jet kit b/c he used some spare jets he had around, though he still charged me for a new kit. Also charged me for an oil change and filter I did not ask for. Once I rode around the block it was easily apparent that the carbs had not been touched, though Sean swore it was fixed and thats how the bike should run. Complete BS. I gave him a second chance to fix it with the exact same results. I ended up getting all my money back, HE WAS TRYING TO CHARGE $700 for work that was never done. WORST SHOP IN NY. TL;DR: great work, completion of work EARLY, and some of the work done for FREE. Cannot say enough good things about Brooklyn Mayd. Picked up a 2012 Duc 848 Evo Corse from a guy off Craigslist. I call Brooklyn Mayd in the morning and make an appointment for an overview. They're able to take me in that afternoon. Efficient, and the rest of the experience was likewise. I get there in the afternoon, and the owner, Sean, gets to me within 5 minutes of my arrival. Again, efficient. Sean takes a look at the bike and then asks me a few pretty direct questions: 1) Has the bike been turning smoothly? 2) Has the bike been hesitating coming out of first gear, but only out of first? In fact, the bike had been weird in turns but I figured that was just me needing to get used to an 848. Sean had me run my finger over the contact surface of each tire. Sure enough, there were ridges, sort of like an egg but in a belt shape along the circumference, just off the middle, on each tire. Sean explained that while the previous owner had taken good care of the bike, starting it regularly, he had neglected to maintain sufficient tire pressure. The bike had been sitting on tires below adequate pressure, which caused the tires to flatten in the middle and creating ridges on the contact surface. He recommended a set of new tires. Now, an unexpected recommendation is oftentimes a sales pitch for something you don't need in disguise, but that wasn't the case here, and Sean's conduct in total makes me think that that would never be the case at his shop, ever. He didn't just tell me I needed new tires, he showed me proof and took the time to educate me on why. More on this later... With respect to the hesitation, again, I figured it was me not being used to the power band on a superbike that was causing the bike to be jumpy and choppy coming out of first, but no. Sean said that an engine flush / overall tune up would solve the issue. Sean said he would give the bike a full service, cleaning out the calipers, going through the engine, changing the oil, greasing the chain, checking fluids, checking hoses and seals, changing the tires, etc. He asked me to be patient and said this would take around a week. I said fine, no worries, more concerned with the fact that I'd missed the tire and throttle issues which, in hindsight, were terrible. I mentioned that the guy I bought the bike from was 3 inches taller than me and outweighed me by around 60 lbs. Sean took down my height and weight range (everyone has a low and a high, and Sean's process takes that into account) for a suspension tune. Sean called me four days later: the bike was done. What? When have you ever heard of repairs being done early? Honestly the efficiency of Sean and his team make me wish for an extra star. Bike was done as promised. I'd asked them to throw on a battery tender hookup and they did, for free. They also didn't charge me for swapping out my clutch and brake levers with shorties (I brought in the parts). Again, what? Free work? Yes. But here's the most important bits: 1) The suspension tune came out perfect. Even without me being around to sit on the bike while it was being adjusted, just from paper numbers, Sean was able to make the bike feel like it was custom fit just for me. 2) Test riding the bike on the new tires and with the engine refreshed, the bike rode easier and nimbler than my Kawi Ninja 300. What I had chalked up to my not being used to the 848 was in fact two issues (three if you count the suspension / fork rake issue) that were actually putting me in danger without me even realizing it. They also detailed my bike, again, for FREE. See above re: just be nice to people and they'll be nice back. Sean also told me to bring the bike back in 250 miles so he could retune the suspension after it settles in with me....you guessed it.....for free, included as part of the suspension work he'd just done. But here's the kicker: I told Sean I was thinking of doing a Termi exhaust on the bike (it's currently stock) but that I wasn't unhappy with how the bike sounds now. His response? Don't bother then. Where Sean could easily have made another $1,000 in parts sales and probably 2.5 hrs in labor, he said hey, if I'm happy with how the bike sounds now, leave it be. But that's what makes me wonder if whether these people on here complaining about upselling or being ripped off at Brooklyn Mayd are secretly just competitors or reviewers paid off by competitors. I basically tried to give Sean more money and he said no. Bottom line: this shop is about doing right by clients, educating them on their bikes, keeping them safe while riding by catching issues early, and delivering results faster than expected. I can't think of a more worthy place to have my bike worked on than Brooklyn Mayd. read more
