OVERPRICED!!! For years this was th only place to get food and groceries by the Morgan L. It had and to some degree still does have a monopoly on the Deli market. It carries a bit of everything - such as toilet paper to gourmet chocolate- however the problem is that the toilet paper costs as much as a gourmet chocolate. read more

As far as i know, they're open 24hrs and they have good sandwiches. While searching for a place to get beers for a BYOB July 4th party, we came across this spot which is right next to the Morgan L. The prices were a bit steep, but they were taking advantage of being the only game in town. 6 packs ranged from like $7 or so to $15. Previous posters have nailed it. Staff is cranky. They are the only source for natural groceries and healthy grab-and-go snacks in the neighborhood and therefore are overpriced. For now they are getting away with it since the hostel guests and neighborhood newcomers don't know where else to go. Pricey or not, I am glad they are here. They have a lot of stuff I need. Anyway, 2* for their convenient location between the subway and my apartment and for having reasonably priced Newman-Os. It's weird, but there's no mark up on the Newman-Os, while pretty much everything else is in usurious territory. I swear I saw this tiny little thing of yoghurt for $4-- it wasn't a big thing of yoghurt, but a wee little yoghurt. I think it was from Iceland. I had no idea Iceland was so famed for its yoghurt. Anyway, that was enough to frighten me away. Oh, they're open all night. Which does come in handy sometimes. And the sandwiches can be decent to pretty good. read more

Amazing deli sandwiches. These guys behind the counter really know how to slice meat. Try the turkey with honey mustard - it melts in your mouth! Really friendly and quick service. Not expensive for they quality, plus there's at least a half pound of meat on ever sandwich they make. Everything is super fresh and never dry. I would recommend this place for a quick grab for lunch or breakfast. The rest of the grocery items are a bit over priced, but they have a wide variety of items. read more

I think like most people, I pretty much shop here just because it's the closest full "grocery store" type place in our neighborhood. Most things are overpriced, but there's nowhere else to get really random japanese ice cream and candies, YUMMY homemade yogurt (their best product!), and pick up quick necessities. The $10 credit card limit does suck though. And according to signs someone posted outside, is apparently illegal? I usually just go in when I have cash or need a lot of stuff. I do my real grocery shopping at Trader Joe's in Union Square, or Key Foods on Grand. Then pick up random things I need later here. read more

First off, this place is documented as one of the most expensive grocery store in NY. For "staple foods" (milk, bread, eggs, bananas) it has an average of $8-9 more than even Whole Foods. BUT, that being said, they have a great selection of foods you can't find at other grocery stores, so just dont go there for regular food, you really have to have a need for specialty food. I would never buy groceries here but I will buy a sandwich or a way cheap coffee and bagel as I walk to the train. The deli workers are friendly and great. True you can go to your local bodega and pay $2.50 less for a sandwich, but you won't be getting the same quality. I wish there was a way to give no stars. Not only are they extremely overpriced, as many other reviewers have noted, they are the rudest! Since it is right on the way to my house I occasionally pick up a few things. One time i was literally one cent short and they wouldn't give me a candy bar. Literally, a cent. But the kicker was the other day, when I broke down and got a half gallon of milk here because it was late and no other place was open ($6!!! for a half gallon!). Unfortunately, it was spoiled. ($6 for spoiled milk!). Well, I brought it back to get a new carton. I probably wouldn't have had it not been so expensive, and I was not asking for a refund, just an exchange so I didnt have to drink spoiled milk in my coffee for the next week. The man at the counter treated me like I was a criminal, made a huge scene, and started yelling when I accidentally picked up a carton that was 10 cents cheaper (yes, cheaper, like in his favor). Finally, he made me open the milk and taste it right there, like having spoiled milk is a common occurrence for him (ick). Anyway, never shopping here again. It is quite a treat to have this place in the neighborhood. Granted it would happen someday, but to have such unique items in a store that opened almost 10 years ago is nice!
