It's a big room with great acoustics, so the music sounded great. The seats are comfortable if a little snug when there's a full house. I do have one complaint, though. I'd just sneak in a water bottle.

A very special place…read more The building is unique, the teachers are caring and professional, and the school has a community-like vibe that I simply have never seen in a school before. It is so warm and inviting. The students have a meeting in the morning-with the whole school-and teachers and students are congratulated for their hard work as individuals and groups. This isn't just for those kids with the best grades but for kids who have made great progress or done kind acts as well. Its a very compassionate place. This is a diverse school and allows many opportunities for all kids. The wonderful field trips, extracurriculars, and interesting classes/lessons that are added in can really motivate kids. Learning to make pottery, playing the drums, or performing in school plays can give kids a neat push and help them learn to work towards their goals. The principal and vice principal are wonderful and really involved. They visit the classrooms and the kids know who they are. Students are encouraged to think critically. This is how all schools should be!

But, as a parent, everything about AHS has felt good as we moved into the community. The principal as good; her teachers have been good. I mean, our fears of transitioning from private to public school were high and serious. But, it's all been fine. Band has been great for our daughter. AHS is a great school, IMO.
