Also, Brooks -- this is such a bad look for you it's actually funny. All you had to do was apologize for having a crummy morning, but instead you fired back, demonstrating how apathetic you are about your customers and potential customers. Nice work. Update: my facebook review has been taken down and account suspended. Classy. Called about a potential emergency. He proceeds to speak to me in a tone I can only describe as disgust, lecturing me on not properly introducing myself on the phone. What? Forgive me if I'm a little out of sorts, worried for my dog. Brooks, I bet you behave the same way with anyone who tries to help you. Whether it's IT, your mechanic, or even a Medical Doctor, because you just need everybody to know that you're superior. Right? Yes, this is, in fact, targeted directly at the owner himself, as he was the one who answered the phone and proceeded to show exactly zero compassion, understanding, professionalism, or kindness. Attempts to establish an appt and/or care for my senior dog were blatantly ignored. I started calling mid to late August. I filled out an online form, left NUMEROUS MESSAGES. All my attempts resulted in. No RESPONSES. THE one time I spoke with someone, was told only certain appts/procedures were certain days. I was originally arriving one day later. I made arrangements to arrive one day earlier so I could secure an appt and that's when they won't Answer phones, return messages or even respond online. So, yeah now since my pet could not receive lifesaving services, she is slowly dying, will most likely put her out of misery in the next few days. Not sure what this outstanding service award this place is recognized for, as I certainly received no service whatsoever. read more

Doc Brooks is one of the best veterinarians in Granby, Colorado. Dr. Brooks has been our veterinarian since 2012. He is caring, compassionate, honest, and seasoned, with many years of experience. My cousins and family members drive their pets from the front range to see him so he can treat their pets. Despite his busy schedule, he takes the time for emergency appointments after hours. On a Monday, my wife, Barbara, took our dog Roomie into see him related to lack of appetite and lethargy as he hadn't eaten for 2 days and had very little energy. Dr. Brooks checked his temperature, felt his stomach and came to the conclusion that Roomie was fine and probably ate something that wasn't sitting right in his stomach. He prescribed us some special dog food and when we got home Roomie ate it up and did the same thing the next day and seemed to getting back to his old self. This ended up being short lived as during the next few days he slowly stopped eating again and moving slower. We called Dr. Brooks around 9:30 am on Saturday morning as we felt something was seriously wrong with Roomie. We told him that he stopped eating again, he had very little energy and seemed to have trouble breathing. He ask me if Roomie had been vomiting or have diarrhea of which I answered no. He then said it didn't sound serious because he wasn't losing any fluids and that he should be fine for a visit with him on Monday. We were concerned but trust it. On Sunday, we came back from being out at around 5 pm to find Roomie hyperventilating. At this point we absolutely knew that this was an emergency and called Dr. Brooks immediately. He did not answer. We left a message on his emergency line and waited for a phone call back. He did not call us back. Our only option was to drive Roomie 2 + hours to Avarvada to an urgent care. Once we arrived at the urgent care, they told us that Roomie had a bacterial infection that had most likely been building over the several weeks and that at this point his lungs were filled with blood and puss which was the reason he was having trouble breathing. Due to his low pulse, the progression of the infection and the grim reality that he wouldn't survive a surgery to remove whatever was causing the infection, we had to make the impossible decision to put Roomie down. Now, I am NOT blaming Dr. Brooks for not catching the infection the first time he saw Roomie but I am pretty upset that he didn't seem more worried about Roomie when we called him on Saturday, and more concerned about getting out to enjoy his weekend. I am even more upset that when we called his emergency line, not only did he not call us back within an hour or two, he DIDN'T CALL US BACK AT ALL. Why have an emergency number if you aren't going to be available? From what it sounds like, he couldn't have saved my dogs life anyway but he should have at least called us back. Roomie was about 9 years old. We had him since we lived in Santiago, Chile and had traveled with us to the US and has visited almost 30 states. He was incredibly special to us so I felt people really should know our experience with Dr. Brooks ESPECIALLY FOR THE TRAVELERS out there. Now, I am not sure how he is as a regular vet but when it comes to an emergency I would seriously recommend thinking twice before bringing your dog to Dr. Brooks. read more

Dr Brooks answered his phone at 6:30 am on Memorial Day and met us at his office by 7 for an emergency with our elderly dog. He had woken up disoriented, unable to walk and seemingly unable to see. Dr. Brooks stabilized him so that we could drive with him to Denver. I so appreciate him answering his phone and seeing us, even though we were not current patients. My 13 week old kitten was very lethargic this morning and had a limp. I called Dr. Brooks and he said bring her right in. She was a very sick kitty with a 104 temp. Dr. Brooks gave her an antibiotic and an anti inflammatory. I am very grateful for his service, I am not accustomed to having pets and I didn't know what to do! I think Snickers feels better already. This latest is a PWD purebred mom I adopted from a puppy mill, and she was so terrified of being apart from me, she decided to fly off our 25 foot high deck. (She previously lived her life in cages :-(. He met me after hours and checked her out and made a soft cast. Now she is back to herself - and thankfully she has decided she really can't fly! Last Sunday afternoon, after a nice hike in the Rocky Mountains, our 6-month old puppy began acting intoxicated. She quickly passed out and was non-responsive. She went down so fast, I was sure she was going to die! I called Dr. Brooks who answered his own phone on Sunday afternoon! He met us at the clinic within 10 minutes and immediately treated our puppy. Dr. Brooks thought she had ingested poisonous mushrooms. (We've had a lot of rain and he's already seen several dogs in the last few weeks with the same symptoms.) He looked at me and said, with a smile, "I don't think she's going to die. While camping this last weekend near Shadow Mountain Lake our dog got into wild mushrooms. By the time we realized what he ate he was throwing up, disoriented, falling over, and looking very scared. I think only one word can sum up our experience with Dr. Brooks... AMAZING! We have a cabin in granby near drowsy water which we visit a few times a year. This is probably one of diesels favorite places to go. Just before dinner time last night diesel abdomen distended significantly, he looked like a balloon. He was very tight and tender when I touched him. He couldn't walk much and laying down only hurt him. I originally though he may have a bowel obstruction, but this had happened within the span of 10 min maybe even less. With the help of some friends we were referred to dr brooks. He answered the emergency phone number immediately and was at the clinic within a few minutes. He knew exactly what was wrong with diesel by just listening to what I was telling him on the phone. There was no waiting time clearing labs or X-rays. Diesel was intubated immediately and surgery began within 10 min of arrival. Dr. Brooks performed a gastropexy (the suturing of the stomach to the abdominal wall which is the treatment for a flipped stomach). He was so kind and easy with diesel and very supportive of us and our concerns. If we would have taken diesel to a clinic in Denver (which we were prepared to do) we would have lost him last night. Took my heeler here for some miserable allergies he was having, as I was up in Granby at the family place for a week and didn't want to deal with the drive to Denver to see our regular vet. Dr. Brooks is an amazing vet. He has been right on target with every diagnosis for my aging Siberian Husky. His style and the environment is so calming that he gets 4 immunizations into my usually nerve-wracked dog before she even knows what's happening. By then, she doesn't care and just wants him to love her. Which he does. His office is always busy with folks coming and going, but they are never too busy to help out on a moment's notice. I've stopped in to buy product and gotten impromptu exams based on minor questions. The best part is that he is wonderfully affordable. He is truly in this for his love of animals. It is clear he is a knowledgable vet. Unfortunately I have multiple animals and usually spend a bit more time at a vet more than once per year. I need someone that can also deal with people, not be rude or condescending or more focused on their own business. Unless I have absolutely no other choice, I would not visit this vet again. I would rather drive an additional distance or pay more money so I feel my pets and I are treated with empathy as well as medical expertise. read more

Dr, Brooks is a great vet. He is kind, gentle and very reasonable. I had an elderly dog that needed surgury. I had gotten several estimates from various vets who wanted to charge me a totaly unreasonable amount. Dr. Brooks gave me an estimate that I thought was more than reasonable. We could not be more pleased and impressed with the service and care we received from Dr. Mike Brooks. Our elderly, failing dog was having a crisis over Labor Day weekend. That Sunday, being relative newcomers up in Grand County, I went online to try to find a vet who might be able to help us. Based on Yelp reviews, I called Dr. Brooks's office where his recording provided his cell number. So I left a message on his cell and received a call back within half an hour. Though he was spending that Sunday fishing with a buddy (a Denver-based vet), he offered to meet us at his clinic in a half-hour. Leaving the river on a day off to see a brand new client is service way, way beyond the call. Dr. Brooks was able to provide our dog with a good deal of relief. Then ten days later when she encountered another crisis, he offered us wise counsel as we knew the end was near. Our beloved dog has now peacefully left us. We will take a few months to grieve and adjust before starting over with a new puppy. But when we do, we will certainly turn to Dr. Brooks as our primary vet during the roughly 50% of our time that we spend in the mountains.
