I've been a customer since the '70's, and have bought I don't know how much product over the years…read more At least three things are impressive about them. First, the store's longevity. It dates back when one bought parts from San Francisco Radio and Zack's in the City, and Lafayette, Allied and Burnstein-Applebee nationally. Radio Shack was a little store in Boston with limited selection. You don't last that long without being extraordinary. Second, always good, friendly service-- I've always felt that they really liked what they were doing when they worked with you on a purchase. Third, They Know What They're Talking About. They didn't learn their stuff from a set of scripts and PowerPoints. They know their chips, the color codes on their resistors, and why some electrolytics went bad a few years back. And they sell you the right product, because they understand how electronics work. (For a long time, they even had a tube tester in the back and I bought tubes from them). They are a National Treasure. Use them.

I always prefer to shop at locally owned small businesses so it is a great disappointment to write…read morea negative review of Electronics Plus at 823 Fourth Street in San Rafael, especially since it has been around for such a long time. However that does not excuse terrible customer service. Their salesperson sold me electric adapters for travel in India. Turned out they were the wrong adapters for India. An honest mistake. When I returned these incorrect and unused adapters I asked for a refund. Although this was their error, they refused a refund. Their policy is No Refunds only Exchanges even when the return is due to their own error. So you get stuck with a piece of paper to keep forever in your wallet even if you have no need for any of their products. In this store, the customer is always wrong. Caveat Emptor!

So here I was at home watching a show about dog sledding in Alaska on TV. Well my rottweiler also…read morehappened to be watching as well and she kinda thinks the TV is a magic portal. So as she saw this team of dogs taking off, she decided she wanted to go with them. She bashed her concrete head right into the screen, at first it looked like there wasn't any damage but eventually a very annoying and very permanent mark formed on the screen. So it's an opportunity to upgrade, and this time mount it onto a wall. I heard about Video only over the radio so I decided to check it out. This place is amazing. I'll never go to a big box store again. I came into there not knowing anything. I have two TVs at home one a 720p and our big one with the dog mark, a 40" 1080p. Resolution wise I can't really tell the difference. So I'm really not what you'd call a videofile. Calvin was very helpful in getting me up to speed on the new tech and I was ready to buy something when my wife called and talked some sense into me. Otherwise I would have gone for it because the prices here make other places look like scams.

Well, I looked around and they are, indeed, a better bargain than Best Buy or even Amazon! Once again, Mom knows best. The problem was that, in the box the Samsung TV I was gonna get mom wouldn't fit in my car! Sympathizing with me in my dilemma of wanting to get mom something then and there for a surprise, Calvin gave me a smoking deal on an even better model of 2024 Sony that was a floor model (no box to take up room in the car, see?). Calvin even threw in an extended warranty! We just managed to fit it in the car with a centimeter on either side to spare. Mom is happy Highly recommend this place. Makers of deals and solvers of problems.

I have purchased numerous audio products from AVI since 2022…read more Tony, Dave and his team have always provided me with great customer service and personal care. When things go wrong (which is rare), they quickly respond to phone calls or emails. They have advocated on my behalf to save me thousands of dollars. If you're considering high end audio equipment, and you want to ensure you will received personalized care suited to your system and budget, run to AVI in Marin.

I contacted Audio Video Integration looking to demo a compact, single-box streaming speaker system…read more(specifically inquiring about options like the Naim Mu-so 2 and McIntosh RS250) for a small space with strict size constraints. Sales rep Dave Costa was dismissive, patronizing, and completely misunderstood basic product specifications from the start. He repeatedly insisted that self-contained wireless speaker systems require external speakers, conflated them with separate streaming amplifiers, and aggressively attempted to upsell expensive component stacks while completely ignoring my explicit space requirements. When I clarified what I was looking for, he doubled down with unsolicited lectures about my budget, patronizing comments about how I conduct audio comparisons, and backhanded insults toward reputable brands. As an audio professional, I expect a specialty dealer to listen to customer requirements and understand the gear they sell. Assuming a specific form-factor request equates to a lack of budget, and talking down to customers because of it, is terrible business. I will gladly take my business to another high-end audio dealer that values customer service and knows their inventory.

We arrived around 9:30 AM since the sign on the door says they open at 10:00. We waited, and by 9:45 a couple more people showed up too. When 10:00 came and went with no one there, we started wondering if they were just running late. Someone checked online--Yelp and the door both said 10:00, but Google said 11:00. So we all decided to wait it out. By 11:00... still no one. The shop never opened. We ended up wasting an hour and a half of our morning waiting around with no communication at all. That's the most frustrating part--if hours are going to change, even for one day, there should at least be a sign on the door or an update online. What makes this harder to write is that my brother has been a loyal customer here for a long time. He's always trusted this place, has had good experiences with the worker, and the pricing has always been reasonable. They even spoke the Friday before about getting this repair done. He mentioned the shop would be closed Sunday for Easter, but nothing was said about being closed Monday. I understand things come up and schedules can change, but not communicating that to customers--especially regulars--is disappointing. We do appreciate the past good service, but this experience was really frustrating and a big waste of time.
