It kept trying to download a program and every time I opened my phone it was there. It was like a virus that was driving me crazy. I gave it to someone on the geek squad named Emma. Within 10 minutes, she had it fixed. I had previously brought it to the Apple Store in Santa Rosa and Berkeley with no success. I am very grateful for her help. I bought a TV 4 months ago, and the picture died. I called Best Buy, and they told me that they had nothing to do with that. They referred me to Samsung. I called Samsung and are still waiting to have this resolved. It has been a week. Samsung first wanted to repair it and now says I have to wrap it and bring it to UPS for a refund. I'm a huge fan of this store! The staff is always helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Buying expensive electronics from places like Amazon just seem so risky but at this Best Buy you get well informed staff to help direct you and are there in case of problems or if you just want an easy return. I ordered a tv and opted to have them attach it to the wall. I also opted for a movable backing so I could angle the TV. The guy who came and did it was not helpful but worse he did not center the TV over a table like I asked and so it looks off but also makes the movable hinge useless as there is nowhere I can angle it as it is too far to the left already. I wasted money on the install ($250) and the movable mount (which cost way more than the basic mount) is now not usable. My advice is never have Best Buy mount your TV on the wall. Have your cousin do it instead. He/she is bound to be better than the guy they sent me. read more

Let me start by saying the personnel are fantastic, cheerful and very helpful. That's where it ends. We purchased a secondary fridge for an in law unit. Delivery was in 2 days. After we left the store we realized we needed to have the handles on the right side of the fridge so the door would open completely. I tried calling the store. Someone from the Geek Squad in lord knows what country, said there is no way to call the store and he offered to send the Geek Squad to my house that afternoon. Okay. For what? The fridge wasn't coming for 2 days and nothing was broken. The fridge arrived with the handles on the wrong side. The delivery people said if they were to change them it would be an extra charge, but it's easy enough for me to do. So, if I was actually able to call the store, rather than driving the 20 miles back to the store, this would not have happened. I did an online chat the Geek Squad again.This woman was so nice. She apologized for the problem and said, free of charge, they would send someone over to fix the doors if I'm unable to. She provided me with a reference number and a different phone number. Stellar service. So unless you want to be extremely frustrated over an incredibly priced appliance, go elsewhere. It's not worth it. read more

I was told by a couple employees (including the manager) that a truckload arrived that day, but they weren't allowed to sell them until today. Fair enough and understandable. Showed up right as the store opened today. I again inquired about availability after not seeing any stock, explaining what I was told yesterday, but was told that the delivered units were actually reserved for remaining preorders, something that was not disclosed to me yesterday. I found that the failure to originally tell me this was, frankly, inconsiderate, especially since the info from yesterday came from one of the managers. read more

Return policy is unreasonable for a never open up box. It was a Mophie wireless charge pad that we ended up not needing. We purchased it on 9/4 and tried to return it 10/11. We had a family emergency where my husband was hospitalized for a period of time and finally had an opportunity to take care of it. The sales person was kind, but the manager could really care less about the situation. She showed no empathy at all and was quite rude. We usually shop there for a variety of items, but I won't be back to give her my business. There are plenty of other places to shop. read more

If it was just one bad experience I might write a 2 star review. I have now had 2 experiences of total incompetence that wasted my time. First I went to look for speakers for my old TV. I took photos of the back of the TV and asked Best Buy if it was possible to get external speakers for it. I was sold a pair of speakers and I also got installation with delivery. When the guy showed up he told me the speakers would not work with my TV. But I showed them photos??? I got a refund but it was a big waste of my time. Then yesterday I went to buy a printer cable. I wanted a 10 ft. cable and I brought in my 6 ft. cable so they could see what kind it was. They sold me a 10 ft cable in a box and said it was exactly the same kind only longer. WOW - did you know BBY sells wheelchairs, I know right...who would've thunk? Luckily, when I did my research for my mom after I was ripped off from local medical supply stores, the website showed BBY selling the same products for way cheaper! Computers are so smart, the algorithm knew I was searching for specific products. How can such medical supply stores take advantage of the elderly like that? Her lousy wheelchair from the local medical supply store cost me almost $400, and it was a heavy piece of crap with missing leg rests. BBY had the best deals with lightweight wheelchairs and cute colors to choose from at half the cost. I totally scored on her adorable red/black wheelchair with a cupholder, and the entire product came assembled. Before you get duped on products, check BBY first, you never know what you're going to find. It's like a mini Costco with all the great deals. Terrible customer service! There is nobody to help you and it's ironic. It seems like they have a lot of staff on the sales floor. They are always preoccupied or talking amongst their selves. Every time, I go in there looking for something. Nobody will come and ask me if I need help or to greet you. Two techs onsite in the audio install area. Upon arrival, they did not have the hardware from the store. Had to go downstairs and pick it up. Drop off went fine, I shared my number and they let me know it would be no more than 1 hour 40 minutes. Left. Did not hear back from the techs. Arrived back 1 hour and 50 minutes later, the car was untouched. The techs said they called me and said my voice mailbox was full. That was a blatant lie on both counts, and I showed them my mailbox was not in fact full. They then said they had the wrong number. I asked them to dial it in front of me, my cell rung. They then claimed speaker system was broken and they couldn't do anything. Given I was there for them to install a speaker, I was confused. They hadn't even attempted to install the speaker nor did they reach out. This was on a Friday afternoon, and it delayed our plans extensively for the rest of the weekend. Furthermore, our speaker now does not work at all. We have no sound. Best Buy is liable but they are claiming it was already broken, which is not the case. I received a defective, broken portable A/C unit 4 days ago. Have had nothing but a run around from Best Buy attempting to remove and replace it. They are demanding that this person over 60 with back issues de-install their defective device, remove the window and hose attachments beyond my reach, purchase a UPS box and pack it (the installers disposed of the original box) and return the unit to them! My suggestion that I buy a new one, have them uninstall and take the defective model back on the same visit, is falling on deaf ears. My suggestion would require them making only one trip to de- and re-install the replacement unit. I have spent over 2 hours on the phone and no resolution has been reached. Avoid this company at all costs, unless you enjoy tearing your hair out in frustration. I will never shop at Best Buy again if this is not resolved soon. read more

Customer's BEWARE!! On 7/30/21 this store sold me a non-authentic computer part CPU. I purchased a $449 CPU and inside the package was a $25 CPU instead. I went back to the store and was refunded. They marked the return as "defective". However when attempting to buy the item again right after the return the employee attempted to sell me a non-authentic CPU again! Employee and management offered no apology, explanation, or assistance in buying the correct CPU product. BEST BUY is committing fraud by selling a $449 computer CPU that is removed from the package and replaced with a 2009 generation CPU. Unbelievable! Look at the picture this is a CPU from 2009 and does not have the inscription of the brand RYZEN which is the current product that should be in the box. Instead of dealing with Best Buy bought the item on Amazon 8/2/21 no problems packaged and authentic CPU inside. read more

Purchased a dryer from Best Buy and scheduled delivery specifying that a small truck would be needed. Told the salesman I'd be stacking the dryer. When the delivery came, I was told I had to have a different stacking kit - an LG stacking kit, so they took the dryer away and told me to reschedule the next day. I ordered the stacking kit and rescheduled specifying a small truck was needed. Three days later I got a call from the delivery men. They couldn't get to my house because they had a big truck. Needed to call the next day to reschedule. Four days later they brought the dryer and stacking kit but couldn't install because the dryer has a specfic plug that didn't match my outlet. Left the dryer and stacking kit and said to reschedule the next day. I had an electrician out that afternoon. Today (three days later) got a call at 1:00 pm saying they would be at my house in 10 minutes. An hour later they hadn't shown up. I called the delivery man and he said "didn't they call you?" They didn't have a small truck and couldn't reach my house. I will have to reschedule tomorrow. This has been a nightmare. I'd never buy anything from Best Buy again. P.S. Rescheduled for following Tuesday and was told they'd send a pick-up truck. Installers arrived and said the vent was not the correct one - needed a flexible vent. THIS WAS THE FIFTH ATTEMPT TO INSTALL. My husband told them they had to find a way to get it done today. After calls to managers, dryer was finally installed. read more

Terrible service. Twice scheduled Luggs to pick up my order and twice was told that they would not release the items. After the first time, they said if I sent a picture of my ID with the Lugg they would release it. So I followed their instructions and included the name of the Lugg driver as an alternate pick-up. But then, after the second time, they said because the order was over $2k that they couldn't release the order without me being there (which they failed to mention during the first experience). Then the manager contradicted herself and said she would release the order but that their system wasn't reflecting an alternate pick-up person and that it could take 24 hours to update. The manager did nothing to help and did not show that she cared in the slightest. Their return policy is embarrassing and is meant to be a money maker. I tried to return some plugs I bought three weeks ago. They've reduced their return window to "14 days" unless you "purchased their membership." Most stores have a 30 day return window but BB has chosen 14 days in hopes of keeping your money for whatever doesn't work out. No offer for store credit! Buy anywhere BUT Best Buy, even if it's Amazon. This place is a joke and it won't be long before they join the likes of Radio Shack. To update my review I went into the store on Monday because I wasn't able to get a hold of the store through the call center. I spoke with the store manager Todd, and the Appliance manager Clay, and they provided exceptional service and they helped resolve my installation dilemma. Very thankful for both of them for being such stand-up people and partnering with me to resolve the installation debacle. Due to the fact that Best Buy uses a third-party service and due to the call center issues, I still stand by my original review. We recently purchased a washer and dryer combo at Best Buy in San Rafael. Two issues so far: 1. On the same day the washer and dryer were delivered and installed, the faucet for the hot and cold water connection started to leak because the contractor used for the delivery overturned the valves. Our plumber said that you should never over turn them like this. 2. Today one of the washer's fill hoses started to leak because it was improperly installed. So Best Buy is using a contractor from the East Bay that does not how to open/close valves and/or install hoses; this are basic tasks that anyone should be able to accomplish. My recommendation: Stay away from any appliance purchases at Best Buy in San Rafael and rather find a store that has actual professionals come out and install appliances. The service was excellent. Ronaldo did everything I needed and more. I brought in my 91 year old father's broken iPhone. We couldn't get it powered up, so we couldn't get any information off the phone. Ronaldo made a few suggestions and we went with the iPhone 8. He was able to transfer all of my father's data over from a back up from April, and we got all of his pictures and more. Very happy with the outcome! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR LET THESE PEOPLE SCAM YOU! if you want a repair to your computer the geek squad team will only scam you and lie. I took my PC into the shop and is all the gentleman did was simply open it, take a 2 second look and then said "everything would need to be replaced" not one diagnostic or anything. Glad I didn't let them scam me for the diagnostic but they basically will say everything needs to be replaced or they need to "take it in for further review" just so they can charge you a huge maintenance fee and replace parts that are perfectly fine. They are fully useless unless it's a small laptop backup or something simple. If it's any actual PC issue they will only take it in to scam you. So I went right down the street to a place called "Pc and phone repair" on Grand ave. They opened the PC and said it looked fine and they will take your PC in for a cheaper price and run tests on it to let you know what the issue is. Don't fall for the best buy "geek squad" scam because they have no idea anything about PC hardware or equipment and only want to charge you for unnecessary parts. unless it's a easy backup or minor issue never waste your time! read more
