There are a few of us at the noon class so it feels like you're getting private training. Each day you're working out different muscle groups. I like how the trainers correct my form and they also pick on me to do more reps or go heavier! They have 5 stations - you start at one then rotate. I always get a good workout there and hardly ever get injured. I don't lift too heavy as I have mild scoliosis. If any of you have any injuries, they can modify any of the workouts for you. I know the people there hate cardio, but I would like cardio to be incorporated as OPTIONAL each day. So some examples could be: rowing, burpees, bikes, etc. Just no outdoor run for me - LOL. As for the trainers, I never had any issues with them. They are all great including front office staff. Tip: make sure to download the app so you can check out which muscle groups we'll be working out.

What truly sets this gym apart is the genuine care the trainers have for their members. If you're dealing with an injury, such as a shoulder or knee issue, they will always provide alternative exercises and modifications to help you continue progressing safely. You know, the classic three month commitment that absolutely never turns into anything longer. This was mainly to support my daughter as she headed into her high school soccer season while rehabbing from ACL surgery. So I reluctantly agreed. Signed the papers. Mentally prepared to count down 90 days. Then we met Brittany, the gym manager. Problem number one: she was actually great. Super friendly, respectful, and did not hit us with the usual high pressure sales pitch. Honestly, she could have sold ice to a fire crew without trying. Next thing you know, we are signed up and showing up. And here is where things went sideways in a good way. Hardcore Fitness El Cajon is nothing like the other gyms we have tried. Brittany sets the tone. She is not just behind a desk, she is in there working out with everyone else, keeping the energy high and making the place feel legit. Now the trainers. Diego. This guy is dialed in. I am there at 0530, barely functional, and he is making rounds correcting form at every station like a fitness sniper. I used to hate being coached. Now it actually helps and somehow does not annoy me. Hesham. Equal parts coach and stand up comedian. Keeps things light, keeps you moving, and somehow makes you feel like a champion even when you are questioning your life choices mid workout. Gio. Pretty sure his mission is to make everyone sweat out their entire life story. I hear he writes the workouts now, which explains a lot. Respectfully brutal. Johannes. Top tier coach. He worked with my daughter during her knee rehab and did an outstanding job. That alone says a lot. Athena. High energy, funny, and very easy to stay focused around... or at least try to. She brings a ton of motivation to every class. I know I am missing a few, but the entire staff is solid. What really stands out is the community. No ego, no weird vibes, no cliques. Does not matter who you are or where you are from, everyone gets along and puts in the work. And here is the part I did not expect. For the first time, I am actually consistent. Not "I worked out twice this week so I deserve a reward meal" consistent. Real consistent. And I am seeing results. Strength is up, agility is better, and apparently I now have what can only be described as beach muscles. I am not entirely sure when that happened, but I am not questioning it. So here I am. A guy who avoided gyms for years... actually recommending one.

All different ages and fitness levels attend this studio and the Hard Core family is truly the most amazing group of people. Classes are small and you receive great instruction and encouragement. I was first drawn into the studio by the fun atmosphere of the Zumba classes. After my first Burn session (6-week bootcamp style), I was hooked. I've enjoyed the variety of HIIT, Zumba, Tabata, and Kettlebell classes, and the affordability of different membership options. After losing about 30 pounds, I decided to participate in a 90 day transformation last year and was able to lose 40 pounds with healthy changes to my diet and exercise. The instructors are incredibly friendly and supportive. They're great about helping you maintain good form and encouraging you to push yourself, but without ever making you feel pressured. One of my favorite things is how they always offer modifications for exercises, so no matter your comfort level or experience, you can still get a great workout. You're encouraged to go at your own pace, which makes such a difference for anyone who's new or nervous. The classes are usually set up in 4 stations with 2-3 exercises each, which keeps it simple but effective. The workouts change every day, so it never feels repetitive, and I've honestly started looking forward to my classes every week. I only go 2-3 times a week, but it has completely transformed my health. When I first started, I couldn't do a single pushup--now I can do 10+! I want to give a huge shoutout to the coaches--everyone is amazing, but I especially enjoy my time with Atheena & Mike. Mike always brings such great energy and gives me a boost of confidence, and Atheena gives the best instruction on form and technique. Before it was hard and sometimes boring to do lagree 5x a week but w climb it's easy to workout almost everyday. My fav is the combo! They don't have combo in Costa Mesa but they have it here.
