For me, it can be really frustrating trying to find a service provider I can trust when it comes to "car stuff"... because I am a single mom who very clearly knows nothing about "car stuff". Luckily for me, Brotz Automotive has proven to be a trustworthy and reliable auto shop, where I now go for every oil change when any service light comes on, and routine maintenance. They have always been very friendly and helpful. If they find a problem I didn't know about, I trust them because they take me in and show me, then recommend where I can go for a second opinion. They let me know how serious a problem is, so I can decide if it's a priority or not. The prices are great and I strongly recommend this place, especially if you're used to "the other guys" who just try to take advantage of your naivety (if applicable.) read more

As others have said, I also had a transmission repair issue with this shop. Brotz replaced my old transmission lines and topped of my fluid after a leak was discovered. Fast forward about a month, I'm encountering the same transmission issue, right in the middle of the holidays. I had to wait about a week to get into any local shop, so I picked the first one that answered their phone (I need my car for my job). After the second shop had some time to look under the hood, they informed me that my new transmission lines had not been installed properly - rather than attach them with the proper tool, Brotz had cut off the ends of the old transmission lines, cut off the connector-ends of the new transmission lines, then hose-clamped the two together. This "repair" resulted in all of my new transmission fluid leaking out, potentially damaging my car further. Due to my need to my car to be repaired ASAP, I asked the second shop to pull the trigger on the repair after seeing the damage that Brotz had done. After my repair was done properly, I went back to Brotz to request a refund on the transmission lines and fluid, as the shop would have needed to pay for these again, even if they were the ones fixing the mistake they had made in the first place. The shop owner tells me that he doesn't have the money and that I'll have to take him to court - I told him that I understand that times are tough and I'd like to avoid court, to just work something out to save us both some time. He loosely agreed to this and I told him I would be back to talk after a little while. Two weeks later, I go back to the shop and the conversation goes about the same as before, only the shop owner also rants about firing all of his staff and suing another local garage, which was kind of confusing. As it turns out, my spouse verified with another local shop that they had been re-doing repairs on cars that had been to Brotz. Apparently, several other folks were in the same boat I was. Finally, I go back to Brotz after another week has passed to talk to the shop owner again. When I spoke to him, he told me that because I didn't come to him first for repair, he wasn't liable for the parts his shop butchered before putting them into my car. I replied saying that I was there to work something out, to which he said "I don't want to work things out, you can go to Hell and get out of my shop." I made my first visit to Brotz Automotive last week. I stopped in and asked for a short notice assist with my SUV and completely expected to have to wait or make an appointment and return as the bays were already full with mechanics working on other vehicles. An extremely professional and friendly office manager, Abbie, said she would see what she could do to help me, and, within a minute or two, the owners, Josh and Dan, appeared from the garage and said "toss me the keys." Within a few minutes my SUV was pulled into a bay and they were evaluating it. After pulling my front right wheel off, they discovered the issue and solved it. They also told me my brakes would likely need service in a few months. I was extremely impressed as they could have easily told me the brakes all needed to be replaced that day and I would have not known otherwise. After 35 minutes, I was back on the road after paying a $20 bill. When my brakes need to be replaced, I will definitely return to Brotz. Extremely friendly, honest and professional. I needed a tranny job so I went to this shop because it had good reviews. Bad choice. They told me that my tranny failed because I overfilled it by 1.5 quarts - already sounds suspicious. They siphoned it off to bring it back to "normal." I checked the fluid levels and it turns out they brought to right level for a hot tranny not a cold tranny. I point this out to them and they get VERY defensive, tell how they know cars etc. I show them my manual and they dismiss it and tell me to "Get the #$%^ out of their shop. Such gentlemen they are.
