This library is excellent, from customer service to materials. The children section is cozy and organized, they have a great storytime for young kids and Mr Mark is the best with them, I attend frequent story times at aventura library and Sunny isles library but Hallandale library has the best in my opinion. They are enthusiastic about teaching the kids and allow for plenty of playtime. read more

The Hallandale Beach Branch Library is big and has many seating areas for you to sit down and relax. By the entrance, there are books in a cart going for sale. The children's area is a medium sized room across from the check out desk. It has four computers, which the kids can reserve 2 sixty minute sessions. To the right of the information desk are fifteen computers where you can reserve 2 sixty minute sessions. There are also two express computers to reserve 2 fifteen minute sessions and two computers with scanners to reserve 2 thirty minute sessions. There are rows and rows of shelves filled with fiction and non-fiction books of different genres, audio books, CD's, and DVD's. There is small section for the young adult (teens). At the Hallandale Beach Branch Library, you can check out video games for different consoles such as XBOX, XBOX 360, XBOX ONE, PS2, PS3, Wii, and Wii - U. They have a few games for PS4. Plenty of parking around this library, the staff are very helpful & nice, and it's right across the street from Gulfstream Park. I like coming here often. read more

I wanted to kill a hour or so and upon entering the library person (she certainly wasn't a librarian) asked for money. I thought the entire concept of libraries in the United States was that they were free. Oh no, not in Broward County. They demanded ready cash and said they do not accept credit cards; outrageous. I thought perhaps an Agatha Christie who was made a Dame and known as Lady Mallowan. The DBE was conferred upon her by Queen Elizabeth II. In addition, the Guinness Book of World Records lists Christie as the best-selling novelist of all time. Her novels have sold roughly 2 billion copies, and her estate claims that her works come third in the rankings of the world's most-widely published books,behind only Shakespeare's works and the Bible. According to Index Translationum, she remains the most-translated individual author, having been translated into at least 103 languages.And Then There Were None is Christie's best-selling novel, with 100 million sales to date, making it the world's best-selling mystery ever, and one of the best-selling books of all time. These so called librarians did not have a single copy of any book she had written. I was aghast and so disappointed with this County which I know to be corrupt but also moronic as well. I pity the poor school children who will miss one of the world's greatest experiences; curling up with the words of a genius. Before I go I shall ask if they have any Shakespeare. Avoid this place if you can! I went there twice with my daughter before the pandemic in early 2019. I asked a question about story time for my daughter and got a rather non-friendly answer from the information desk. People working there do not seem happy from my limited experiences. During my two experiences there, a female employee approached twice and asked me several odd questions, asked to take my picture, and complained how the upper management was treating her relating to her attempts to upgrade aspects of the library. After the second experience, I searched for better options and went to the library in Aventura, which is much nicer and even have story time in Russian for my daughter. Aventura is the better place to go. Avoid Hallandale Beach if you can. read more

Like all bureaucratic institutions they are extremely self important and wanted to stop me from reviewing their facility. This is the attitude that brought down every civilization since the Egyptians 4000 years ago and on to the Romans whose imperial power re­placed the complex check-and-bal­ance system of the republic. The famous Senate declined from a vigorous state council, filled with civilian and military executives, into an ornamental rich men's club. The Roman populace was no longer in a mood to fight for its constitutional liberties; it was lulled to sleep by the time-honored method: Panem et circenses. So long as it received free food at public expense, and elaborate games and spectacles, it ceased to concern itself with public affairs. This is a public facility and the folks who run it should take a long hard look at the Romans. I ordered a book from the Hollywood Branch on the Circle and asked if it had arrived yet to the snooty librarian who was very confused and told me that I DID have a book waiting for me. She spent forever looking and got the attention of the chief muck a muck (Circulation Manager) who told her, in effect, "that if it wasn't on the shelf it was MY problem and not their problem", wow did that get my blood boiling. I asked to speak with him and he would not come out to try to resolve the issue. I said I would wait until he showed his face and she went back to ask again. He came out reluctantly chewing something in his mouth. He informed me that I had interrupted his eating. I thought that was a pity, but I needed support that his staff member could not or would give me. I was told flat out to go to Hollywood and discuss the matter with them, that he was not responsible for their mistakes. He was adamant and smarmy at the same time; a neat trick know to bureaucrats who think they can insult the folks that support them with taxes. They need to be a bit more humble and remember who pays the bills in Broward County. Oh well, when the money stops and they are looking for ANY job to pay for their families, THEN, it may dawn upon them that governments have come and gone over the eons and their arrogance will speed up the demise of this library tout de suite. I have lived here for many, many years and used both the Dade and Broward libraries saddened with all of 'em except the Coconut Grove Branch, BUT I MUST SAY THAT FACILITY HAS THE WORST STAFF I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. read more

Worst branch in the entire BCL system? Well, I've only been to about half of them, but this one takes the cake. 1. Lousy A/C system keeps the place uncomfortably warm. It also fails to properly circulate the air, which probably accounts for the mild aroma (is that urine I smell?) in the place. 2. There is no decent place to sit, the few comfortable seats there are are taken over by gaggles of retirees who camp out all day and use this place as their personal community center. They stop gabbing long to answer their cellphone to tell their husbands where they are ("No, I'm still at the library. NO, THE LIBRARY!"). Hey, folks- cellphones have a 'vibrate feature'...look into it. 3. The overweight Security Guard does little but stand around. Getting her to silence some of these people isn't in her job description, I guess. 4. The whole place is dark, the internet is so slow you'd think you were on dial-up, and the workstations have no place to plug in. Also, possibly the loudest library I've been to...ever. If you really need to use the library, H'wood or Stirling Road would be a better choice. read more

The library is small and extremely loud. The staff does nothing to curb loud talking/shouting. Not a good place to study or quietly read.

Hallandale Beach Branch is a friendly library that has a great international collection with books in French, Spanish and Russian and DVDs in many languages. The collection is also very strong in Large Print materials. It's a gathering place for writers and readers because they have clubs for both. Conveniently located adjacent to the Hallandale Beach Governmental Complex. read more
