I've heard great things about Dad's Garage, so I decided to check it out on a solo Friday night…read morewhen I was seriously craving a good burger. I was hoping all the hype was true and maybe I'd even find a new spot to add to my breakfast places to try list -- but, spoiler alert, I won't be doing that. Pulled in around 5pm and found parking (miracle, since there are only about 4 or 5 spots). Inside, I was greeted right away and told to seat myself. The specials board out front caught my eye, so I went with the bacon cheeseburger croissant, upgraded my fries to chili cheese fries, and grabbed a Diet Pepsi. I was the only dine-in customer, but there was a steady flow of pickup orders. Still, a 20-minute wait for my food felt long considering it was just me sitting there listening to FM radio straight out of an 80's prom (hello, Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings"...literally). When my food finally arrived, the staff immediately realized they'd forgotten the chili cheese on the fries and whisked them back to fix it -- good save! The chili itself? Fantastic. Like, "I-need-this-on-a-hot-dog" fantastic. The fries, though...yikes. Grease was literally pooling and dripping through the basket like a leaky oil pan. The burger was fine -- solid flavor, but the proportions were off. Giant tomato and onion slices took over the show, and the croissant was way too big for the small patty. Loved the croissant idea, just needs a smaller bun or a bigger burger. Ended up eating the patty and ditching the salad-sized toppings and half the croissant. The check was the real surprise: $12.99 for the burger, $2.49 for the Diet Pepsi, and another $2.99 for the chili cheese fry upgrade -- plus a mysterious "conveenience Fee (2.99%)" for $0.55. Maybe time to run spell check before charging extra, Dad. All in all with tip, $20+ for a burger that didn't quite live up to the hype. It hit the spot for a burger craving, but not enough to make me a regular. Glad I gave it a try -- it's got potential and a great location (even if parking is a tight squeeze). But honestly, it might be time for Dad to roll up his sleeves, give the menu a tune-up, and maybe double-check that receipt printer while he's at it. Bottom line: Cool concept, great chili, and 80s prom tunes -- but for $20+, I expected a little more horsepower under the hood.

The nerve of this proprietor! Sitting on the patio gives you a five star view of the river and the Rockville Bridge. It's not that peaceful however due to the traffic flying up and down N. Front St. Still a beautiful view though. We stopped here on a whim today just to grab a small, quick bite and have a couple of beers while checking the World Cup scores on the television. Not busy at all this Saturday afternoon around 3:30 PM. We had no idea what we wanted so I ordered a fry with gravy on the side while deciding on something else. Definitely food service frozen fries and gravy that tastes like every other gravy you've had when it comes out of a food service packet. We then ordered little neck clams and six wings extra crispy with mild sauce. The clams were flavorful but overdone and not worth the price. The wings were medium sized and crispy and the mild sauce was excellent, just could've used a little more on the wings. Service was good and prices were a little high for the quality. I'd like to go four stars, but we're not there yet. We will stop back and try some other food and enjoy the views this summer.

Got 2 tiny pickle chips on my plate. Waiter never gave more water but did bring refills for coke for those in our party who had coke. I would probably go again but it was average.

I had a fantastic visit to Devon's! Clean, excellent restaurant right in Hershey! We had a…read morereservation (highly recommended) it was early Saturday night and still very busy! I had the tuna steak, roasted heirloom carrots in honey sriracha butter and whipped Yukon gold potatoes. Our waitress was great- very knowledgeable about the menu, including the gluten free options. She said that for the current menu, all sides are gluten free except for the lobster Mac and cheese. No gluten free rolls or pasta options but many seafood and steak options. Mocktail options available as well! Plenty of free parking, which is always nice!

I've been to this place numerous times now, and the biggest thing I'll say upfront is: you never…read morereally know what you're walking into on a given night. Consistency is a real concern here. That said, let me break it down. Ambiance: 4/5 Context matters here. In the wintertime, you walk in and it's dark, cozy, and has legitimately good steakhouse vibes. In the summertime though, those vibes basically disappear. So call it a 4.5 in the winter and closer to a 2 in the summer -- we'll average it out to a 4. Still probably one of the better ambiances in the Hershey area, which isn't saying a ton, but credit where it's due. Service: 5/5 No complaints here. Multiple waiters coming around, water always filled, attentive throughout. Great job. Food: 3/5 This is where it gets complicated. The steaks -- they know how to get the cut right and cook it to your requested temperature, I'll give them that. But if you've been to top tier steakhouses, you know this isn't one: the plate is not piping hot, the steak not bursting with flavor, kind of dry, not juicy, not the best crust. The sides deserve some credit though -- the potatoes au gratin and asparagus are pretty solid. However, I ordered the red snapper, which came with mushrooms and a puree, and the sides were so small you could barely see them under the fish. The fish itself was cooked well, though I personally like my fish with some kind of juicy base. That may just be the style here. Overall: 3/5 Look, Devon is the best steakhouse Hershey has to offer -- but you have to keep that context in mind. If you're holding it to a high steakhouse standard, it's going to fall short. Consistency is the biggest issue. Some nights are better than others, and at these prices, that's not acceptable. Go in with the right expectations and you'll have a fine time. Go in expecting a top tier steakhouse experience and you'll leave disappointed.
