We came here after a busy day of traveling, and the Hamburger was the perfect meal. Service was a bit slow as they were short-staffed and the restaurant was so crowded that there were people standing around everywhere waiting for a table. I had one of the BEST Cesar salads I've ever eaten, and I love Cesar Salads!!! It was loaded with Chicken, Bacon, Parmesan cheese, Croutons AND Pomegranate seeds! Yes, you heard me correctly... and it was phenomenal!!! Hubby had the cheeseburger and fries and he said it was ok (they put Swiss cheese on the burger and he's an American cheese type guy, but otherwise it was very good). Best part of our lunch at Zermat was the easy going bartender. Bar foods served as bar foods do and my tomato bisque was comforting. It was a very nice tasting tomato soup as it should be and served very hot! We stopped here after arriving in Zermatt around 8 pm. We got a bar spot and service was quick with our drinks. The vibe was really neat- lots of visitors, so many languages spoken, very casual yet cozy. A lot of the other restaurants on the Main Street were a bit fancy so this was much more what we were looking for. It took awhile to get the servers attention for our food order, but once we did food was fast and warm. I got tomato soup which was delicious and cozy. I would say this place was ok. It was definitely crowded and busy. We weren't greeted upon entering even though 2 people behind the bar made direct eye contact with us. It's open seating and people share tables to accommodate everyone. We sat for 10 minutes at a dirty table before anyone came over. Came back to Zermatt after three years. We were happy with this Pub the last time, so we decided to come back here for lunch. Setting is very nice, a typical pub with some Rock Music and some sports on TV. The windowfront is very nice and was (on this warm spring day) halfway open. Nice to watch the world go by. Staff was friendly and our lunch arrived fast. We ordered the Zermatt Burger with sides and a small serving of the Cordon-Bleu with sides. Both meals came with french fries and salad, as well as Mayo and Ketchup. The Cordon-Bleu was freshly prepared and crispy outside. The Burger was - again - a great choice. Good meat and topped with a good slice of real swiss cheese and a lot of onions. Which ist great, 'cause I love onions. No pickles or tomatoes in the Burger....fantastic! French fries were big cuts and homemade, hot and crispy. Good stuff! We had some Coke and Soda with. The Burger was only 20 CHF and the Cordon-Bleu only 13 CHF! Talk about value here in Zermatt. Fast food chains in town aren't cheaper....and this here tastes better. All in all a really great choice. Will definitely have lunch here again next time. read more

Regardless of season or day of the week, it is a place guaranteed to be crowded and have a solid variety of brews and bar food. It is simple and fun. The people seen here are people you would witness at any popular pub, anywhere in the world. There are the young "dudes" screaming at one another while balancing a pint, there are pleasant bartenders who are pouring brew after brew, but at the same time don't seem to be in a rush.
