The wall is full of different sense. Anything you can think of you can make. They have a variety of candles sizes, body, scrubs oils, and body butters that you can mix and enjoy at a later time. Not worth it! We received some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced from the owner, Terry Brown. Immediately upon entry, our group of seven was met with negative, harsh, unwelcoming energy. We had made reservations and paid a deposit but arrived about 10-15 minutes late due to an accident on Hull Street(something completely out of our control). We even called ahead to let them know we were stuck in traffic but would arrive shortly and we were told that was fine. If punctuality was such a strict requirement, we were more than willing to reschedule. We even asked about that option. Instead, when we arrived, we were immediately reprimanded and told our time would be limited because she needed to accommodate another large party. This was confusing and frustrating, especially considering the business accepts walk-ins. What made the situation worse was the assumption that we were "frustrated", which simply wasn't the case. We hadn't even said anything yet, we were just trying to sit down and enjoy the experience we had paid for. It felt like she was more concerned about keeping our money than taking accountability for how she approached the situation. From that point forward, the entire experience felt tense and uncomfortable. I kept my coat on the entire time for fail to get settled. Such an uninviting welcome. What was supposed to be a relaxing girls' day with an elder and two kids quickly turned sour. Terry later made fake small comments that seemed like attempts to smooth things over, but by then it was too late, even the kids could feel the negative energy. Another uncomfortable moment was witnessing how she spoke to her staff. At one point she addressed a staff member, who appeared to be her niece, in a demeaning way in front of customers. That was difficult to watch and added to the already unpleasant environment. The experience also felt overly controlled to rush our time there, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the activity. Keep in mind, we didn't receive any instruction about the activity just immediate backlash about being late and time was limited. For $50, neither the experience nor the final product was worth it. The most disappointing part was the lack of accountability and her deflection for how she approached us as consumers. It was just completely unacceptable. We communicated ahead of time, tried to be understanding, and even offered to reschedule. Instead, we were met with hostility and assumptions. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this place. Save your time, money, and energy. read more

We have enjoyed many visits at Brown House Candle Company. This place is a whole vibe! There are a number of items you can make, from candles, wax melts, lotion, and the list goes on! The staff is very friendly and helpful. A bonus is the complimentary drinks we were given each time. While I enjoy the experience and staff, this place can be a bit pricey. A GEM!! & a must try; WHO DOESNT LOVE CANDLES! From the time your arrive till the time you leave it's a vibe! First and for most..the staff is wonderfulllll, so sweet, so helpful, so patient. The owner makes sure you understand what you are doing and what you are creating! You can tell she puts love into her business. The candle making was fun! As a first timer didn't know what to expect..but first you will choose your most like scents on a wall of over 100 different scents. Then you will mix them together and see which ones you like and which ones you want to use more of they explain everything so well. Then you will start creating your candle and pouring yours, it which is super cool to see the whole process come together at the end. You can also add flowers into your candle and it's just a fun experience especially for a mother daughter date or a date night. I had the chance to stop by during the Valentine's Day special and this was their first time catering and providing candlemaking and it was so much fun for a date night. Finally stopped into Brown House Candle with one of my friends on a Saturday afternoon. We made a reservation although walk-ins are allowed, but with growing popularity spaces fill up quickly! Staff members were friendly and accommodating. So many good scents to choose from and the options of what you'd like to make. My friend and I went with making wax melt cubes. Perfect outing for friends, family, and or date night! I really enjoyed my time. You're offered a beverage of choice as well. The location is good! The team walks you through the process to help you with your scent. The owner is there and she was very hands on helping the customers as well finding the perfect blend scent for your candles. I had a great experience making a custom soy candle at Brown House Candle Company. When you enter, you are greeted and seated at a bar-style seating area. Employees are behind the bar and ready to assist and provide instruction. They take reservations for larger parties, and also offer walk-ins (if space allows). I was able to walk in and get started right away. Your first step is to go to their scent wall and write down several scents that you like. I liked that I wasn't rushed during this process, since there are a lot of different scent options to go through. You will also select a vessel for your candle. After you have a list of your favorites, an employer will help you figure out two or three of your favorite scents that will blend well together. They will allow you to smell the scents you choose in combination with one another so that you can select the combination you like best. After you have selected your combination, you are given instructions on pouring the candle wax and scents into the vessel. You are then given a blank sticker and some pencils and markers so that you can design your own label for your candle. You are also given a complimentary drink. The candles have to sit for about 90 minutes before you take them home, so I left the store to do some shopping before returning to collect my candle. They can also hold your candles overnight if you need to come back a different day. Overall it was a very fun and unique experience, and a great price for a custom candle and activity. It would be a great spot for a date or get-together with friends. The store was easy to find with ample parking, and appeared to be wheelchair friendly. read more

A custom blending experience with over 100 fragrances to choose from. I would recommend making a reservation, but I do not believe one is required. Your session will take about an hour. You'll guide yourself through the wall of fragrances, writing down your 12 most liked scents. At the far end of the fragrance wall, you'll select a jar for your candle. Prices start at $30. Once you're seated, you'll be offered complimentary wine or a beverage, and then the fun really begins. Choosing your top 3 fragrances, you'll add a few drops of each until you blend the ultimate, unique fragrance you desire. Soy will be added to your candle jar, and you'll mix in your fragrance oils. Creating a name for your candle completes the DIY part of the experience. The candle needs to cure and harden, which takes a few hours. You'll be instructed on what time you can return to pick up your candle. It's returned to you in a chic bag that makes it easy to carry your one-of-a-kind candle home. Brown House also offers body products such as lotions and hand scrubs. The candle making experience was a nice experience however the owner is very rude! My friend booked a candle and lip gloss session using her mobile devise. Both session required a payment of $10 each. Walking into the establishment I could hear the owner talking down to one of her employees in front of customers. I looked past it and wanted to enjoy the experience. We make our candles which again we enjoyed then step out to wait for the next session. We didn't take any merchandise with us. As we are getting back in we are told we shouldn't leave because we hadn't paid anything. We begin to ask questions about the additional cost because it was not displayed during the booking. The owner walks over saying what's the problem. We explain and again in a very rude manner she begins to state that no we were wrong because she works with her marketing people to make sure her prices are listed. My friend pulls up her device and shows the manager how she booked the sessions without any additional cost showing. It didn't even say deposit it said book $10 session for an hour. The owner then states oh well that's because you booked it on a small device . She then tells us that there is no way her candles could be $10 (which is probably the case but this is my first time) however this is NOT how you address the customer. Again she is rude and ruined the experience for me! read more

Prior to yesterday I've been to this venue several times with many different friends. I love that it is a black owned facility and have had nothing but great vibes. However yesterday I had a party of 6 booked and 3 people canceled due to serious uncontrollable life events. I asked if the $5 per person reservation could be applied towards my candle. The employee told me no and the owner was there also who said it's to reserve the spot not to go towards the candle for those that don't show up. She also made a joke like she would return my funds but the employees don't allow her to touch the register anymore. It was an inappropriate joke at a time where I seriously wanted my funds returned to me. Like I said prior to that incident yesterday I've had nothing but great experiences here and enjoy the entire process. Lessened learned don't make a reservation walking in will be perfectly fine or have each person reserve their own spot. read more

We told the amazing staff that it was our anniversary and they stopped everything and acknowledged us. It was fun and different to smell the different scents and make my own scent for the diffuser, however after leaving the diffuser in my small bathroom over night the diffuse gave off NO scent. It was so fun to curate our own candle scents, and the candle containers they offer are beautiful. There was music playing, the owner and staff are very warm and helpful, and the experience overall was really enjoyable! Angelica was friendly and helped us create a perfect blend of scents for our candles. Complimentary drink made the day even better!
