Found this shop on Yelp while visiting Richmond. The staff greet us as we entered the unique shop. Filled with incense, candles, crystals, and other interesting items. I am new to crystals & such and the staff was incredibly helpful. They answered a lot of my questions, their energy was extremely positive and helpful. I actually learned so many new things and I thoroughly enjoyed the shopping experience. I purchased a couple of crystals, many candles, some healing bath salts, incense and more. This review is going to delve a little more personal than my typical posts, but it's for an experience I'd like to share publicly. I grew up in a conservative household, so visiting a psychic was always considered dangerous and off limits. While this wasn't my first visit to one, it was the most scarily accurate. So let's go back in time a bit. One sunny Saturday morning in May, I was feeling desperately alone and in horrible pain. I was sitting in a hospital parking lot having just undergone yet another medical procedure to find out what was causing the issue. I didn't have weekend plans and hated the idea of going home to an empty apartment. I searched psychics on Yelp and Aquarian popped up. I gave them a ring and asked if there was any immediate availability. I was able to schedule a reading with Kristin for half an hour later. She was in a reading when I arrived so I waited a few minutes. I scheduled 45 minutes for $60. Her title is Tarot Intuitive, Empath and Pendulum Reader, which aligned with my goals for the session. I'm giving you an idea of the timeline so it's not questioned if she Googled me ahead of time to gain some idea about my life. Not to mention, she made comments during the session that she couldn't have found online or otherwise known without special abilities. Among those: - I asked if I'd start to date someone any time soon. She replied by telling me I'd need my gallbladder removed and gave other specific insights into what I'd need to work on interally prior to opening myself up to someone else. The test I had that day was inconclusive, but two weeks later I had another test that diagnosed the problem, was referred to a surgeon, and my gallbladder was removed in mid-June. I'm no longer in daily pain and my quality of life is eons better now. - I told her how alone I felt due to not having a connected friend group anymore. I was isolated away from a few formerly close friends in another city. I still don't know all the details as to why, but I was heartbroken for a long time as I thought they were friendships that would last forever. Kristin told me that with summer's arrival, I'd open myself up to new connections. Nowadays, if I don't have plans on the weekend, it's because I chose to stay home. I've met so many incredibly lovely people in the Richmond area over the course of the last year, and several of those friendships deepened over the summer. I'm so grateful for where my social life is now, and I finally feel like Richmond is my home and I belong here. - I learned about numerology. Kristin told me the past year or so had been a #9 year for me, and I was moving into a #10, which means a new chapter in life. They flow every 7 years, which makes total sense. She also mentioned the return of Saturn between ages 27 1/2 and 30. I was about to turn 28 at the time, so that insight was also applicable. Having more of an idea of how outside forces and energy can impact my life was just really cool to hear. Kristin also knew I'd adopt a pet (my kitten is the best living being I know). She knew I'd switch jobs by the end of the year (mhm). She knew I'd start studying for something (yep yep). And she told me I needed to continue writing, because it grounds me (sounds about right). So far all but one prediction have come true, but I know why that one hasn't yet, and it's because I'm still busy working on myself. I'm not concerned about it anymore. I'm happy with where my life is now. And I really appreciate the reading I had in May. We all have our different opinions on psychics, but if you're looking for an insightful session, I'd recommend this location wholeheartedly. Looking for some esoteric fun...? The Aquarian Bookshop is hands down one of my FAVORITE places in rva. You can find crystals, tarot, plethora incense (all the high quality ones) sage and other cleansing materials and yes, books. Mainly related to the afore mentioned. A wonderful thing is that they have events! I have been to multiple including a healing sound bath and if this interests you-- check it out! The atmosphere is (9/10) amzzzzzzinng and zen. I say 9/10 bc occasionally you'll get sketchy vibe ppl just coming in to poke fun or be silly and that's not wonderful but honestly in 14+ years that's only happened twice. It is my happy place. The staff are amazing always looking to help with questions and very Knowledgeable without being condescending. I really loved this shop! It's a lot different than the one crystal shop in the town I live it. It was super busy inside. They had people doing readings of all sorts, and just called a person's name through the store when it was their turn. The crystal selection was awesome. There were so many!!! I think I bought seven, and that was me holding back. There was a variety of smudge bundles, sage, white sage, lavender, e.t.c. tons of books, large crystals, items for chakra work... anything your metaphysical heart could desire! The only thing that was negative, is that it was so busy the employees were all at the registers, so I couldn't get any answers for my questions. I have a lot of questions about everything in life. I would definitely go back next time I'm in the Richmond area, which isn't too often, but I know I'll be there in May! read more

My mom and I came in to get readings done in July and were blown away! We made appointments by phone the day before, which was smart as they booked up. We went in at the same time for our readings to 2 separate women. As being a long standing customer and spending hundreds at Aquarian Bookshop, I was absolutely detested by their severe lack of proper customer service skills. On Saturday the 11th I stopped by to purchase a bracelet ($18) among other things and on Monday the 13th while getting dressed for the day my bracelet thread snapped and broke. Shocked, I called Aquarian hoping to get some sort of assistance of any type, regarding my bracelet. A woman named Grace, answered The phone and I explained to her what had just happened. Expressing to her how I frequent the bookshop and this had never happened before. Grace then blatantly told me without any concern or compassion that there was absolutely nothing that they could do then proceeded to tell me to go to a craft shop to fix the bracelet. Absolutely disgusted, I said alright, thank you and ended the conversation. I have never dealt with such subpar customer service in my life especially from an establishment I held with high regard and being a frequent customer. I will NEVER shop at the Aquarian Bookshop again for my crystal or metaphysical needs and advise ANY and everyone else to follow suit. I spoke with someone about balancing my chakras and they recommended a batt salt mixture and a few crystals but they seemed rushed like they'd rather help more regular customers. They always have a variety of items in stock Mama, Brandon, and Anthony are all very patient and helpful with helping you get things in order. Since Mama wasn't in when I went in today, Anthony walked me through all I needed to handle my affairs with a very personalized touch. Got a nice but overpriced necklace when I stumbled across this establishment the other day. The energy in the store was slightly weird, kind of stagnant/distant/phoney. The physical layout is obviously gorgeous, very reminiscent of the eclectic 1960s-1970s new age movement. However, like another comment said, it comes with bizarre cultural appropriation. Really strange to be of Indian descent and see everyday things selling for almost triple the cost in this shop under the guise of spirituality. read more

First of all, this store SMELLS GREAT! ;-) Lots of wonderful and interesting classes. Very, very nice, deep and wide selection of gemstones, reasonably priced. Jewelry, books, incense, gongs, singing bowls....It's a metaphysical wonderland. Only downside is parking. There's plenty and it's free, but it's street parking so if you're a horrible parallel parker like me, it's a bit of a struggle, but not awful. I went in for a reading and to not taint anyone else's experience I won't say who it was with. I'm partial to this kind of stuff anyways and was recommended by a friend to go. There were something that were spot on but so many that were off, half way through the reading I definately felt the person reading me get a bit nervous. Maybe I was reacting how they thought I would or they were having a hard time picking up my vibes but it was a bad reading. I was not disappointed! This is a cute little shop with a nice nook of books and decent selection of books. There are also a bunch of other little things to look at and buy. Aquarian is a wonderful little shop, full of new agey goodness. There is a nice selection of essential oils, lots of statues and trinkets, a decent book selection, and an entire wall covered in gemstones. They have some great gemstone jewelry, including some gorgeous little moldavite pieces. The herb selection is nice as well, I found exactly what I was looking for. The woman working the shop also gave me more information on healing heartache using specific oils (Frankincense) crystals (rose quartz) and scents (rose water). So I picked up a few extra goodies to go with my heartache-busting tea, and am happy with the quality and price I paid for each item.
