TerraFirma…read morewaterproofing product has been a significant update to a shoddy home remodel that the January ice storm exposed. After this unexpected remodel and damage was exposed we had a delay of several months to get on their schedule. When the project date arrived, they showed up on time, cleaned well after the demolition/addition of interior floors to allow drainage and a sump-pump. My original review (4 star due to not adjusting the cost when less product was used) they owned the mistake and recognized their communication gaps. I do appreciate that attention and feel more confident in the company. I look forward to many years of DRY basement/master bedroom living.

Living in a 30-year-old home for the past two decades we've had several phases of upgrades, but one…read morething has always been absent from a 10x10 slab on our back porch: a hot tub. So, this summer, we decided to move forward with the plan to be "soakin' for the holidays" three months away. The only thing standing in the way of that dream: the slab and its neighbor had sunk a few extra degrees, roughly three inches, at the far edge. We were going to need to shore up and permanently stabilize this slab if our hopes of the (3-ton when filled) tub were going to materialize. I made a quick call to Terra Firma and they had an estimator out within a few days. The pricing was reasonable and had the standard 50% up front 50% when complete-type contract. Casey arrived spot-on at 8:00am yesterday morning and began doing his magic (the process involves boring 1/2" holes through the slab, then using high pressure and heat to inject a molten expanding foam under the slab.) The foam is rated to support about 5 tons (10,000 pounds) per pound of foam material, and....100 pounds later that whole slab is back to following the prescribed slope perfectly, raising almost three inches on the sunken side. He did a great job and was a great rep for the company, explaining what little was left to explain. He kept me up on the status of the (4-hour) job as he went along--because our slabs had previously cracked, he had to gently lift it up in small sections so as to not have the sections separate further. Perfect job. 24 hours later and the patched holes have dried to almost-invisible (see photos). Unless you know what you're looking for, you can't even really see that repairs were made. Now I just need to fill in the pre-existing cracks with concrete patching caulk and we're ready to schedule the hot tub delivery! Yippee! Thanks Terra Firma!

It was a nightmare. We had to file a homeowner's claim not only to replace our sump pump, but also to redo the waterproofing under our house. I remember nothing but us cursing, crying, and tearing our hair out. All I know is our senior foreman was Ramon Morales. Just this week, almost exactly 4 years later, we had another atmospheric river. Our crawl space is dry as can be. We have had no problems since. I still have zero clue what a sump pump is, but I feel confident that you can trust John's Waterproofing to handle your homeowners' claim and get your house back to safety. After so many bad experiences in the Portland metro area, I'm so relieved to be able to recommend John's Waterproofing for the long haul.

Less than 2 years later they came for an annual inspection and their sales rep told me due to visible mold, he urged me to get encapsulation for $26,000! I nearly had a heart attack! He didn't even offer a discount on the work they already did which would all have to be redone. But he sure pushed to finance it. Such a sham! I had an official inspector evaluate the condition and promptly told me there was no need at all, minimal mold and good air temp. Beware of this company's sales tactics and pressure. Unfortunately my warranty is through them so I'm stuck. But you can make a better informed decision!

***Please note -- I updated my review from 1 to 5 stars. Terra Firma took the initiative to reach…read moreout and assess any next steps needed to correct the problem. Trust is 100% restored knowing that if problems come up they will take any action needed to follow up. I will also say that the work they originally did was actually to code, and we agreed that the moisture problems arose due to the nonstandard setup of my dehumidifier, NOT because of errors in Terra Firma's work. Thank you Terra Firma.*** Unfortunately, I have to drop a negative review in the interest of warning other folks that their work has gone downhill. I previously had an excellent experience with Terra Firma for management of a water problem in my crawlspace. I hired them without question again for my current property for management of moisture issues, and I didn't check their work upon completion as thoroughly as I should have. Unfortunately, about 1 - 2 months after completion of work, I discovered a large mushroom growing out of one of the structural posts in my crawl/basement. On closer inspection, I noticed that the dehumidifier water discharge line they installed was dumping less than a foot away from my foundation, corresponding to the exact spot the mushroom was growing. Moisture was the exact problem they were supposed to fix, but now they have created a severe structural problem secondary to moisture with the dehumidifier line dumping large quantities of water right next to my foundation. In other words, they created the exact issue they were purporting to fix by collecting the moisture and depositing it into my foundation. Once fruiting bodies are growing out of wood, this is an indicator that the wood is severely compromised and the fungus network has grown extensively. I now have a very expensive and serious problem to fix. I called to let them know about the problem, not sure if I will hear back from the coordinator/ the team who did the work. I am not sure if I would trust them to fix the issue after the damage they have caused, but I would accept financial remediation. If they take steps to make things right, I would update my review. I would not hire Terra Firma again for any crawlspace work, be it structural or moisture related because of the big problem they have caused. Again, just would like to warn others.

TerraFirma sent over an estimator, then scheduled repairs. They were done in less than one working day and provided photos. They laid down paper to protect the floor as they were working. Due to another issue found, had to reschedule a second day to come out and install a supporting beam in the crawlspace. Different crew but were as professional and clean as the first. Folks in the office were helpful and responded quickly. Would hire again if needed.
