Isaac did a great job of helping me understand what we would be buying and how it would work -- how it would be different from what we had, but would be very efficient. They were on schedule installing it and took care to explain everything to us. They are also doing the Oregon energy rebate paperwork. The other bids were not interested in doing that. I think the best review for a business is: "Would you use them again?" The answer is: "Definitely."

Since Sky Heating does not service systems that use R22 refrigerant, they indicated that the only option they can offer is replacement. I told them it was a 20 yr old system when I booked the appointment so they new it was likely to use R22 refrigerant. They left me with a broken system and misled me into thinking that I had to spend thousands to replace it now. A quick check online revealed that R22 is still available. I hired another company that came out and repaired my system for me. When it does need to be replaced, I will NOT be hiring Sky Heating.

We moved to the area in March, and…read moreknew the house we purchased had a heating & AC system that were original to the house and well past their typical rated lifespans, and likely to die on either the hottest or coldest day of the year. Getting replacements was always on our list of "to do's," and so we called a highly rated HVAC company to get a quote. The guy came out, looked around, and then NEVER provided a quote despite repeated calls and requests. OK ... on to McDowell & Son. M&S came out promptly and provided us with several options and price points. Terry didn't try to sell us the most expensive system, but explained how the various units would work (all 3 would be fine for our house); described some ways to help us keep the house cool (or warm) given that we would only have a one-zone system, and overall provided a professional experience even at the RFQ stage. We scheduled time for an installation. And guess what? A little over a week before installation date, the area is hit with a big heat wave, temps above 100, and yes - the AC died. And it got hot. And hotter. We called to see if we could get bumped up on the schedule, but the equipment wasn't all in place and they had other jobs scheduled, but they were kind enough to bring out a single room AC loaner for us, which at least gave us one room to escape to at night. When installation day(s) arrived, the crew was prompt. We got calls the day before each installation day advising us when the crew would arrive. The team that did the installation was courteous and professional; they kept the work area neat; all the old stuff was removed and debris taken away. There were a few hiccups here and there (a piece of equipment arrived damaged; our crawl space was a little odd) but they managed around those things. The difference the new, modern AC has made is incredible. It does a great job cooling the entire house (before the upstairs was always problematic); it's quieter; it has so many scheduling options for flexibility. Again, though, the equipment isn't what made the experience memorable - it was the great service from McDowell and Son. I'm confident that if there is a time for any warranty service, we'll get the same great treatment.

I would have given a higher rating except that when I called I told them where I lived and asked for the cost of the service call to my area. I was quoted $165.00 Then when it was all said and done an additional $40 was tacked on for travel. I had talked to a competitor which quoted me $125.00 plus $40 travel for the service call. I chose Airco because of our previous relationship and because I was quoted the same price for the service call. So, to say the least I was very disappointed when they hit me up for another $40.

I thought this was a little high for an after market motor. Before I installed it I looked it up on the manufacturer website Msrp was $188 and Fastenal had it for $66 and Amazon.com had it for $160. I called Airco to ask them about the price difference and the owner would not return my call. Now I'm wondering how much they overcharged me for my $6000 mini split which I had to wire in myself
