Also the staff really knew which flowers would compliment each other as i did not know which flowers to select and the staff were a big help to me. Twenty Seven Alloway is a delightful gift shop set in the heart of the quaint, well kept main…read morestreet of Alloway. Just across the road from the famed Burns Cottage this shop offers a small selection of tourist related gifts but refreshingly leaves the cheesy gifts to the gift shop across the road. What is available in its place is a range of pretty stationary, well made fairy mugs, small home favours and vintage looking tea cosies. It hosts a range of cards for special occasions, candles and the usual comely selection of gift shop goodies but all are of a higher class. The jewellerly looks like it's been made locally but it does not conform to any particular Scottish theme, giving an alternative to the kind of souvenirs available in this region. But the feminine country-kitchen nature of this homely business is also convenient for locals who don't want to travel into Ayr to purchase a last minute present for a loved one.

The staff are pleasant enough. The goods for sale are, in general, somewhat overpriced and there is the odd low-quality piece for sale. We gave pictures to illustrate the shape of the bouquet we wanted but what we received was what we had already said we didn't want. Hair flowers for the bride were completely wrong. Since the flowers arrived two hours before the service we had no choice but to accept them. I have emailed twice to discuss this situation but they haven't come back to us at all. I feel completely let down.

We bought some treats to bring home as well from the chilled cabinet, including Findlater's vegetable pate (something you can't find easily elsewhere).
