So, in winter of 2025, a longtime friend, Tom Dembeck, a Maryland resident, calls with some exciting news. "I just caught a state record Yellow Perch!" he said. This broke a long-time record from 1979. The perch was verified by the Department of Resources, Maryland. This once in a lifetime catch needs to be preserved and not eaten. Tom was adamant that the perch must be skin mounted. As a gift to a long-term friend, I spoke up and said I'll pay for the mount. After doing some research, the skin mounts of fish do not last long and have issues with oils, smells, and authenticity. After hearing about fiberglass mold mounts, I was intrigued. If you ever need a taxidermist, Bruce Foster is your guy! He mounted my 7 & 1/2 foot Blue Marlin 10 years ago and my sail fish this year. Both are amazingly life-like. The detail in both fish is impeccable! He is easy to work with and takes great pride in the meticulous details of his art. Now.... I just need to catch a White Marlin for the trifecta! Bucket list! This is the guy to use, my son caught a 9-puls inch crab, I just sent pictures to my watermen associates and they thought it was alive! Bruce is passionate about what he does and he does it right. He also explains in detail what he does and why he does it. I hope to catch other critters to hang at the beach house. If I could give 6-stars I would! He really is an artist!
