Walking down the street, checking out the shops, and all of a sudden I notice a coyote looking at me through the door of one of the shops. I did a double take and turn back to look closer. I look inside and see, yes, a coyote(!!!) looking out the front door. Of course I step on inside and see a menagerie unlike any I EVER expected to see in South Jersey, let alone right on the street for free in Collingswood. A moose (okay just his head it still, it's GIGANTIC!) A WHITE WOLF, a grizzly bear, suspended in action and time. A gorgeous bobcat. Many deer heads, of course. Ducks of all kinds, feathers glowing in the sunshine. Turkeys. And they're BEAUTIFUL. Granted, I am no taxidermy expert, but I have seen my share in natural history museums and online. These are so incredibly lifelike. My entire opinion on taxidermy is changed after coming here and seeing these beautiful animals, frozen in time, to admire up close. The owner, Tony, has a wealth of knowledge about and a huge respect for animals. He took probably an hour out of his day to talk to me about his craft and shared with me all kinds of information about the different animals. He's an incredibly interesting guy with a really unique talent for preserving the animals and making them look life like. Next time you are on Haddon Ave, go check out his shop. Seriously I had no idea these things could be so beautiful. Also as I said the owner is just incredibly nice and interesting and seems happy to take his time to educate you about what you are looking at. Stopping in his shop yesterday was one of the most entertaining and interesting experiences I've had in a while. Also, tell your hunter friends about Baratta's! I have no idea about costs or anything but I can bet most hunters would LOVE to have a keepsake like these.

I wanted to bring back a souvenir from this store and asked how much a lamp was. The owner who is extremely nice stated this lamp was in the asylum when it was open and may be carrying some spirits with it lol. She said something of the sort, I am taking some liberties. Anyway, suffice to say I did not buy the lamp but a glass art piece for less then ten dollars to show my support for such a rare and interesting store. I highly recommend you visit as they will give you a tour for free. The owner even gave me a free "fortune teller miracle fish" which I have in my car to this day. As always people SYOY!!!

I asked Barry if he could fix it when mounting? I'm extremely pleased with my new addition to my wall. Barry was without a doubt a very easy guy to work with. I enjoyed talking to him. His workmanship was outstanding. The damage to my horns are impossible to find. A great repair. The overall mount was spot on and nicely done. Oh, the cost was very reasonable. I finally would like to say that Barry had my mount done in a surprisingly fast time. I'm sure he will say it doesn't always happen that way but I think he tries very hard to please his customers. P.S. If I ever get another deer, I'm going to Barry to have my trophy mounted.​

They have a little window on the outside of the shop, and it gives you a really good idea of what they sell: odd trinkets, preserved animal specimens, historical items (like old prescriptions and medical devices), quirky jewelry, and much more. It's possible to find some crazy, fun, strange items at Bazaar. It's worth stopping into just to explore.

Occult items, taxidermy, milk glass antiques and collectibles, vintage pins and jewelry, insects and bones of all kinds, and a Ouiji board collection that will shock and awe. The store posts some of their wares on Instagram, and you can follow them there for highlights, but this is a place you just have to see in person. I purchased a vintage copy of Alice in Wonderland based on one of those posts and opted for in-person pick up and am so very glad I did. I asked permission before taking photos (per the shop rules posted at the entry) but there's so much interesting stuff to check out, that these hardly scratch the surface. They cram a lot of incredible finds in a relatively small space, and you'll want to take your time investigating the shelves because you never know what you might find! Parking actually wasn't a problem on the busy Friday afternoon we visited, but there is a lot of construction in Fishtown, so it might just take an extra trip around the block to score a spot.

So, in winter of 2025, a longtime friend, Tom Dembeck, a Maryland resident, calls with some…read moreexciting news. "I just caught a state record Yellow Perch!" he said. This broke a long-time record from 1979. The perch was verified by the Department of Resources, Maryland. This once in a lifetime catch needs to be preserved and not eaten. Tom was adamant that the perch must be skin mounted. As a gift to a long-term friend, I spoke up and said I'll pay for the mount. After doing some research, the skin mounts of fish do not last long and have issues with oils, smells, and authenticity. After hearing about fiberglass mold mounts, I was intrigued. However, many such mounts look rather fake, which does not reveal a natural looking fish. Then I saw brucefosterstudio.com, Wow, definitely need to talk to Bruce. Clearly, he had the skill and passion to make the best fiberglass mount possible. Mr. Foster was a true artist that painted every scale with multiple layers and hues. Tom's stubborn mindset of skin mounts are the only mount -this was a big problem. Convincing Tom to take a road trip to visit Bruce was the turning point. Bruce in great detail, explained every part of the process. Finally, Tom said, "Lets do it!" When we picked up the finished product, it looked like it just came out of the water, absolute perfection! Tom and I would recommend Bruce Foster Studio, he's a true artist.
