I came to doctor Roca in AUGUST of 2024 with symptoms I'd been dealing with my whole life. Stuffy nose upon waking, sleep apnea, TIRED ALL OF THE TIME, sinus pressure when I was sick, not able to fully breathe through my nose even AFTER a septoplasty, and CHRONIC headaches since my teens. I had gone to so many medical professionals for help with my headaches, including a neurologist that pretty much just dismissed me. I'd looked at my diet, saw a naturopathic doctor, went to acupuncture, gotten massages, seen a chiropractor, but the headaches till persisted. It wasn't until I went and had a consultation with Doctor Roca that my mind was BLOWN with what was really the underlying cause to all of my lifelong symptoms. She very confidently said we needed to expand my maxilla and nasal cavity via a MARPE device because of how small my jaw was... and the rest is history! I am still under care of doctor Roca, we have not fully finished full expansion of my maxilla yet, but my results thus far have been profound. My headaches have COMPLETELY disappeared, my face doesn't look tired and sunken anymore, my sleep apnea has disappeared, and I am way more rested. I never thought I'd see the day where I didn't have a headache. The beautiful part of this whole process is that Dr. Roca takes a holistic approach to the whole process. She doesn't just expand the jaw and leave you to your own devices. She requires CONSTANT weekly check-ins from you. Each person's program is customized specifically to your needs. She has me seeing a physical therapist to realign lifelong imbalances due to my skull sitting improperly on my spinal cord because of the incorrect jaw position and lack of oxygen to my brain. She tests your sleep apnea, scans your teeth multiple times, and she also has you under the care of a myo-functional therapist towards the end of your expansion to re-teach your tongue how to work properly after a life of not knowing how with a narrow airway. I was so blown away by Dr. Roca and her progressive knowledge and deep passion for her work, that my son is also getting expanded as well at the age of 3! As of 2025 they will no longer take the military insurance. There's parking and she offers early morning appointments (7am). The appointments were ok, there's not much to say when you just get a cleaning and there's no dental issues. The hygienist goes pretty hard and even chipped the top of one of my front teeth. She told me I could have an orthodontist smooth it out. They charge an additional $50 out of pocket for fluoride. I sent my previous scans multiple times and they said they didn't receive them. When she did see my scan, I was referred to someone to get a second opinion on something she saw. Almost $500 later I find out it's just my sinus cavity. I know, better safe than sorry and can't fault her for doing her job. My final straw was getting charged a late cancellation fee. They require 48 hours notice which can be really hard if you're not sick 48 hours in advance and the day before your appointment is a weekend or holiday as was my case. I called the morning of and left a voicemail that I was sick; instead I went to urgent care and was diagnosed with strep throat and an ear infection. They did not receive this voicemail in time because the receptionist was also out sick. I was charged the fee 6 weeks later and when I called to see if they make medical exceptions I was told absolutely not because they have already written off too much from *all of us* because our insurance doesn't pay well. As a professional I can understand some of this, I know it's frustrating when people late cancel/no show or an insurance doesn't pay well. However, I always make exceptions for medical and other things that are truly out of their control. They are right to stop taking our insurance, it's not good when you start to resent your customers. Take away: -No matter how sick you are, if you want to avoid a fee, go to the appointment -Go if you know your dental insurance pays well or you plan to pay out of pocket -Insurance companies are the worst and need to raise their rates across the board

I had to do a procedure which required numbing via needle - consequence of putting this appointment off so long :( - but she was so thoughtful as to apply anesthetic gel so I wouldn't feel the needle going in. She also said, "Close your eyes" before she started so I wouldn't see this giant ass needle flying towards my face. In retrospect, she kind of treated me like a child, but in this situation it is EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. From a financial standpoint, she was very clear about what procedures she was going to perform and what my insurance would cover. She even suggested how I can space out my appointments to maximize insurance coverage. Yay. At the end she kept thanking me profusely for how great I was and how tiring it must have been to have my mouth open for so long (insert joke here).
