The young pulled up within 10 minutes and helped me into the cab then he help my wife into the car and loaded the bags from the hospital into the car. Not only does Bruce's Taxi Service provide rides home from both HCA Florida Blake Hospital and Manatee Hospital, but on one occasion the manager, a man by the name of Don, allowed me and my wife Diana to ride in one of their taxis (The driver was Russell, and he was great) to my bank to make a deposit even though I could not pay the service immediately, because our checking account had a negative balance. The following Two days later, after that significant deposit had posted, I paid for the round-trip ride over the phone. The reason why Don the manager at Bruce's taxi gave me a round-trip ride to our nearby bank? It was because I have been a long-standing customer with a reputation of being an honest man. I am a 55 year old woman disable walk with a walker I call Bruce's taxi service in order a ride to Winn-Dixie there and bike when the ride took a hour and a half to get to me they told me it was going to be 30 minutes but when they did got to me and pick me up they took me to Winn-Dixie and I asked them how much it was going to be on the phone and they said $8 there invite so I got the wrong understanding from according to them so I was trying to get the understanding how much the ride was going to be there invite before I go in Winn-Dixie shopping so the driver called the dispatch and the dispatch heard me saying that he told me it was going to be $8 and the driver said it was going to be $13 and so I was trying to get it understanding how much I had to pay so I can have a money to pay them the dispatch told the driver to put me out me and my 16 year old son and leave them there we don't need $8 let them keep it I feel so disrespected especial when the driver say those people's read more

Customer service has gone downhill since the passing of Bruce. Treat all their long time customers who keep them in business and have been loyal to them like garbage. Combined with the fact that most of their drivers speed to try and get to the next job it's no wonder companies like Uber and Lyft are more popular and are running cab companies out. Also you would think with more competition they would make their prices competitive like anyone with a straight head on their shoulders would. Yet prices are going higher. Hey, It's Dave! a regular until now! God Awful. They tried to overcharge after 2 years. After they said that they were under charging me from 8 bucks up to 12 bucks (after 2 whole years) just for 1.8 miles (and after 2 years when I always payed the 8-9 dollar fee + a 7-12 dollar tip!) That was enough. I was always good to them and tipped well, but they decided to rip me off anyhow. Go with Yellow Cab! Much cheaper! If I could give these people zero stars I would. Called for a taxi on Saturday night (1/27/2018) at around 11PM. Showed up promptly within minutes. Saw this car with one headlight on... I said no, can't be, it was.... So I get in. Driver didn't even say hello. Wow. Cab stank.. then he heads out. $3.50 to start and before we even get 1/2 mile away the meter is already at $4.70 ... But here is the real pisser.. The girl at the office said she was going to run my credit card for $25.00. Hold on a minute, we didn't even get to my house and they are going to charge me $25.00. REALLY! Could see if I was dressed like a bum but I was in a shirt and tie. Picked up in an upscale neighborhood in a down scale car. Anyway, the comfort of the vehicle ... this Ford should never be allowed to be on the road. NO SHOCKS in the rear. Felt like one of those Low Riders. Went over the railroad tracks and my back still hurts. Please just get me home. The girl told me on the phone that if the bill came to less than $25.00 the driver would give me change. OK fine. My back is still hurting. We get to my destination and the tab is $24.67. Told the driver he could keep the change as a tip. Bottom line, call someone else, even Uber or Lyft. Recommend Bruce's.... I had to take their taxi home from the hospital one time. They had no meter. The driver picked up a piece of paper and pretended he was looking at a price then said oh well and made up a price from his head. Charged me $35.00 from the hospital to my house 15 miles. Yeah that's service alright. His car left oil spots in my driveway and now I have to pay to get it cleaned up as we can't have that kind of stuff in our driveways where we live. first was late, and got in a car that should not be on the road...smelled of smoke, and the driver said it must have been the driver before her, ok...the front seat was ripped and falling apart and i was scared to use the seatbelt for fear of what was on it. got home only 2 miles from pick up point, it was $11.00, when using the calculator on their website, it said $6.50...DO NOT rely on their website for a quote, called the office to ask why so much, and they said anything west of interstate 75 is a flat rate of $12.00, WHAT...2 miles for $12, never again...would never recommend this taxi service to anyone read more

Arrival time was good 15-20 min. Driver was pleasant. Old cop car was used up, so worn both in and out. Tons of room but not comfortable at all. If you want to arrive in comfort and decent style avoid Bruces. read more

since when did they start asking for money upfront i was arguing with one of the guys whos working on this day of 5/22/22 about this info thats new to me. my peers and i was never asked to pay upfront till now then the guy got rude saying he wants to fight he also threatened to take my life he also told me he stays in my area i asked to speak to someone over him which he refused to assist me he is not someone dats fit for this job i was cursed at and threatened i would hate for this business to go down because the workers dont know how to talk to the passengers if theres a way i can contact the head of bruce's taxi i would be more then happy read more

Really a zero star service. They made us wait almost 1 1/2 hrs and when the driver arrived, while he was cordial, the cab was dirty both inside and out and the seats were heavily/torn and just being in this vehicle was unpleasant overall. The minimum service to go to our destination was $25. The meter ran up to only $11. Driver never offered to refund the difference...and, as matter of fact, the dispatcher never mentioned a refund either. Never again. I have absolutely no complaints about Bruce's Taxi Service. The dispatcher was prompt in answering the phone, and my driver arrived within 15 minutes. I even got a courtesy call to notify me that he was outside. Once inside the vehicle, I saw that it was reasonably clean and the driver was well mannered and friendly- I don't remember his name but he deserves a compliment! He was a younger gentleman probably in his twenties or early thirties... He even rounded off my fare when we arrived back at my address. genuinely awful. used this service multiple times as an emergency option when I miss the bus for work, they will tell you 30-45 minutes before the driver gets there but really its just completely up in the air and they will show up whenever, often over 40 minutes late. overpriced with dirty cars, for the same trip different drivers have quoted me 10$ difference in fare, seems like they are just making it up on the spot. seriously avoid this place read more

This cab service dropped me off at a Dr. appt.. Minimum charge is $5.50. This was for 1.3miles. I gave the driver a $3.00 tip to hang around ,i would only be about 10min. He told me it would cost me .50/min for him to stay. This was after the $3.00 tip. He split. I called to be picked up. 25min later i was still waiting. I called again for pick up. I reserved a ride the night before to go about a 10 min distance. When the driver picked me up and was driving me there he realized that it was a short ride so he asks me do you know about the $25 minimum charge? I didn't hear anything about it, so he contacts the people who handle the phone calls and makes them repeat there is a $25 min. This was irritating because they should have told me during the reservation process that there was a min charge, especially since I told them where I was going from and to. This D.A. driver sat out in the road honking his horn like he was in New York City. He kept laying on it like that would help. It is an Arts district with residents living above. Too lazy to go to the door for his customer or call then on the phone to advise he was there. Called the company to complain and the manager or owner yelled in the background hh didn't "give a F...". He just scratched himself off the call list for any of the business owners in this neighborhood. I'll be sure to call Checker, Diplomat, or Desoto instead. This was a great taxi service because of our driver named dennis as he calls himself "dennis the menace" I highly recommend him because he was a great guy to talk to and didn't charge us so much like all the other taxi services. dennis deserves a higher pay and a pat on the back he is a all around great guy. he directed me and my wife to a good seafood joint and told us where we could go to have some fun. if you are ever in this town call and ask for the menace! lol read more
