The catch of this place is that you drop of your item for altering and come back later (always the same day). They do it all, from wedding dresses to soft furnishings; even little things like sleeves and collars. A lot of these skills I feel have probably been lost over time but it's a new world now with new pressures and time takers. Thank god then for people like Cherry.

Less than Zero stars…read more Took my 3 years old Burberry jacket (immaculate condition) to be dry cleaned with them. It had a little white stain on it. First, it came out with substantial amount dirt after the cleaning process on it. After second try, as the result from harsh automated cleaning was that it had turned into 15 older jacket, yet the stain remained but only fainted this time (which I was OK with). I did seek for reassurance for the extremely gentle care of the jacket this caliber prior to giving them the job. That was given to me. The Chinese lady in the shop eventually blamed on me as customer for the damage in unpleasant manner eventually walking out on me, which I found outrageous. She tossed the refund of the cleaning at me, a very small compensation for her lacking service (coat's worth £1400). When dealing with this shop, bear in mind the far East business culture that does not meet the Great Britain standards. They may be able to work with less sensitive stuff though. -Julius

Basically, when I was getting married I needed my trousers taking up, so I headed into the centre and was quoted around £15 for this simple alteration. I had a look at Yell.com and called this place who quoted half the price. The shop is a little ramshackle, but it's friendly, independent, cheap and they did a great job. One thing: make sure you know where it is before you set out. It's tucked away in Brislington (though near St Phillips) and one end of the road it's on isn't accessible by car.

I suffer from this problems often, and as I'm not about to learn how to sew, I was in desperate need of a good tailors/alterations business. This odd little place was advertised in the local paper, so I went to investigate, with an especially annoying pair of new trousers. Step inside and it looks like another cheapy clothes store, the new clothes they sell are nothing but market-stall fodder and not really worth a second glance. They charged £10 to take up my trews, and did it within 3 days. I had to be measured and was man-handled by a woman (it was fine, I'm just not used to going to a tailors!) I have to admit, despite the rather depressing shop and unspectacular surrounds and service, I have been pleased with the result. The hems are even and the length just right, and looks like they'll stay put. They also do repairs of almost all items of clothing. Might be worth going somewhere a bit pricier/ more upmarket if you want your Gucci suit/ballgown/wedding dress altered though.
