As we were leaving the owner asked where my son had put the small plastic car that he had been holding. I had zero idea what he was taking about and asked my son who shrugged (he's four). The shop owner then suggested that it might be in my stroller or purse. I immediately responded that my son may pick things up, but knows better than to steal. As I started rummaging through my bag, my son pointed across the room where the owner found the car. I spent maybe $100 in there a few years ago, but will never go back after today. We visit many kids stores and my sensory craving children never been accused of stealing. I found the whole thing very offensive. Before you accuse a child of theft and demand to search the property of innocent people, you might want to check around your store first. I was humiliated and left very upset.

A baby onesie for $90... that's made in China. Baby one piece bathing suit "on sale" for $68... that's made in Turkey. Stacks of t-shirts for $30-$40... made in China of cheap cotton. This is not fine clothing, just fine little handmade price tags on stuff that could be from Carter's and you wouldn't know the difference.

I hadn't been back to Pacific Palisades since the wildfires. When I found out that Palisades…read moreVillage was going to have a grand reopening, it was a good excuse to go back. The first thing that caught my eye were the charred mountains. Next, were buildings being reconstructed everywhere. It was heart wrenching. At the same time, it was hopeful. So many signs around Pacific Palisades are about being resilient. There are also mirrored sculptures that talk about being broken, but still here, still together. The reconstructed Village is elegant, clean, and beautiful. It truly feels like a welcome. You can tell that a great deal of effort was put into making this a celebration. So much was free: parking, food, drinks, postcards, keychain charms, even a lawn chair. There was a surprise jet formation flyby. It was my first time seeing a robotic dog in person. It was so weird. I wish they would put a head on it. It freaked at least one big, fluffy real dog the heck out. It freaked me out a little, too. They had guest speakers like Elyse Walker and Caruso himself, but it was too crowded for me to see anything and at one point the speakers cut out, so I couldn't hear anything either. As a result, most visitors just started chatting with each other. "Did your house burn down?" "Are you rebuilding?" "I'm glad things are starting to look hopeful again." If anything, that's what this reopening represented: Hope, rebirth, optimism. Update: I went back for the 8pm event where we didn't know what we were going to see. All they said was that it would blow our minds and it did. They had guests like Anthony Hopkins, Kate Hudson, OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, and American Idol's Pia Toscano, along with a full orchestra and a drone show. Plus, the stage looked like a mini Hollywood Bowl, but everyone was close to the stage.

From free invites to events, to easily earned points that can be used for valet or restaurant gift cards, it just makes sense to participate as it's effortless. If you visit Palisades Village, the Grove, the Americana at Brand or the Commons at Calabasas (& I'm certain there are more I am omitting!) you are missing out on point earning opportunities if you aren't a Caruso Signature member. I have attended public seminars in the community room on the second floor above the Concierge hosted by Sweet Laurel and I've now attended a fabulous shopping event that was hosted by Caruso signature. The Christmas champagne chalet is such a blast as is their tree lighting ceremony on the green. I am such a fan of this shopping center because it feels like so much more. Although there's certainly been turnover of the stores, they always know how to curate the best brands around and certainly keep it fresh. It still has my go to Sephora. I'm obsessed with ALC, Misa, Vince, Carbon 38 not to mention towne by Elyse Walker & Toteme (newbie). Sweet Laurel and Erewhon are always a favorite to stop by and of course there's the fabulous selection of restaurants. And their movie theater is so luxe, if you've not been you owe it to yourself to visit. My original review still stands. I absolutely adore this place, just like every other Caruso development I've visited and it's been such a fantastic addition to the Pacific Palisades area and surrounding neighborhoods! It is the town square in the best way and such a wonderful place to meet friendly dogs and locals. It's a gem.
