Bruttles Gourmet Candies absolutely deserves 5 stars--this place is a hidden gem. The shop itself is spotless and well-kept, which immediately gives you confidence in the quality of what you're about to enjoy. The lady behind the counter was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the free samples of brittle were a great touch (and honestly what got me hooked right away). I ended up purchasing the cashew brittle, and wow--it was da bomb. Super unique texture: soft yet crunchy, and not crazy sticky to your teeth like most brittle. I also grabbed the classic peanut butter brittle, and it was just as impressive--rich, authentic peanut butter flavor without that overly chewy, annoying stickiness. Again, perfectly balanced between soft and crunchy. To top it off, I tried the little squares of brittle covered in chocolate... and they were unreal. Honestly better than a Butterfinger--like 100k times better. So goooooood! If you're anywhere near this place, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't regret it. read more

I've lived in Seattle for the last 10+ years but grew up in Spokane through high school. People ask me what Spokane has to offer and let me tell you...this place is one of them! It is absolutely unique to Spokane and a MUST! I have dreams of their melt in your mouth peanut brittle haha especially around the holidays. I also just tried their cashew brittle for the first time and it inspired me to write this lol SO GOOD! It only makes sense that such an incredible product would have a rich, interesting history as the original makers of this soft brittle. It started in the Davenport hotel by a woman named Sophia (please don't make me try to spell her last name..forgive me!). There's a whole story and article you can read with a quick google search but essentially they became a household name in Spokane. I personally think they grew bigger than themselves and deserved their own store front. Anyway, I rarely write reviews, maybe like two in my lifetime but this place deserves acknowledgement by anyone and everyone. Go there or be square! Also note to dairy free or vegan folks, my fiancé and I went vegan a while back and I almost cried hearing its VEGAN!!! How?!? So amazed and grateful! The product here sells itself and it's awesome. Be prepared to empty a bit out of your wallet but it is worth it. They've got the recipe for the soft peanut brittle down and have for quite some time. They have other offerings as well with different variations of peanut brittle and several offerings of fudge. In fact, they have several offErings of low sugar fudge as well. The employees here are hit and miss as far as courtesy goes. On our visit the employee on duty didn't acknowledge us coming in as she was too interested in the activity on her phone. We had been wanting to try Bruttles candies for some time and finally had the opportunity to get a hold of some over the weekend. It was simply fantastic. My wife and I agreed that the flavors and textures of the candies were well developed and exceptionally good. Two regrets, however... one, we definitely should have kept the candy in the trunk of the car for the long ride home (devoured them). Second, we should have picked up some more while we had the chance. Will definitely have to order some online. Highly recommend that you pick some up and enjoy for yourself! read more

The candies are amazing, always live a bit of fudge and a truffle. The soft caramels are some if the best hand made caramels. My kids love the salt water taffy. It is real old time stuff with a wonderful flavor. While I love the the peanut butter brittle, I am personally partial to the cashew brittle. Amazing stuff. But the real reason to go is the ice cream! They sell Brain Freeze Creamery ice cream here, normally carrying about 8 flavors. They normally have one of the flavors that contains their own candies like Vanilla Peanut Butter Bruttles or Carmel Cashew Crunch which has their caramels and cashew Bruttles. But all the flavors are amazing and about a buck cheaper than Ben and Jerry's and they are larger portions too. And the ice cream is so much better. So if you are down town or work down town, you got to go down here for a walk and get some during the summer. Skip the mall or Kendall Yards, this is a much better destination for a sweet tooth. read more

After having lunch we saw this little candy shop and decided to give it a try. The inside is clean and very adorable. We ended up buying three different kinds of fudge and some caramels. I will say the caramels were amazing, and the sugar cookie fudge tasted just like a sugar cookie, which was so delicious. The cookies and creme fudge tastes like it may have been sitting there for awhile. Super dry; like really hard. But the main reason I gave two stars was the customer service. The girl working didn't say a word to us until we were paying and talked to her, and she was kind of rude. Customer service should always be first priority in a place like this and I feel like she failed miserably and just gave us a negative experience in the shop. The soft peanut brittle were awesome but found the bruttles a bit too sweet and lacking in peanuty taste. The cashew brittle were very disappointing. The ones I got were hard and tasted old. Maybe i got one of the old ones or maybe I just dont know how it's supposed to taste. I wish they would come up with chocolate covered soft peanut brittle. That would be amazing! A true gem hidden in Spokane. Their iconic candy is delicious and the shop is great little candy shop that locals overlook and visitors should stop by. My issues are not what they have but what they don't. A few years ago I stopped in to picked up some bruttles and also picked up caramels and some terrific marshmallow caramels. But I have never seen them since. This is my issue with it. 'Variety is the spice of life.' They needs more candy options with their with their iconic candy as the showcase. By far the very best peanut brittle I have ever tasted! Great flavor, texture, and good sized peanuts as well. Davenport Hotel has made their version of Bruttle's, but there is just no comparison. The candy is delicious however the service is terrible. We ordered candy to be delivered to my Step Mother in Law and she never received it. When we called they would never and the phone and I finally had to go out to the production store on Sprague and knock until they opened. They told us that had sick employees. I completely understand hard times would have been happy if they had just responded to our calls, or emails. To ignore us-and others customers, has made us find other opinions. Not only do we have one in Coeur d'alene but the famed Davenport that has been restored also has this sweet spot to enjoy. Spokane and Coeur d'alene is about 30 miles apart where as Spokane is a mid sized metro and downtown CDA is a very small town feel. To have this candy store bless both locations is great for us folks that enjoy our sweets.
