So, I went back to them for a reevaluation and they did not see anything and attempted to file my upper tooth down thinking that was the issue. The sharp pain persisted and I LOVE MY CRUNCHY FOODS, so I decided to take a day trip to my Austin dentist and they performed these tests to see if my teeth were misaligned and they took a look, but found nothing again. Unfortunately, the pain persisted, so I googled another provider and came upon Dr. Hassid. Him and his staff are so friendly, personable, and accommodating. Being that I had a recent XR with my dentist in Austin, he waived that fee for me as a new consult as well and just had my Austin dentist email my XR results over to his office so he can evaluate it - saved me tons of $$. He ended up fixing my filling and thanks to him, it's now pain free for me to consume my favorite food texture again.

The dentist also talked me through what to look for when buying toothpaste and mouthwash, and provided scientific explanations for which products work best. The new patient/scheduling process is very smooth, as well. I simply filled out the new patient form online, got an email the next day from the office to schedule my appointment (which worked great for me, since I often can't take phone calls during the day), and was ready to go. Nervous about starting orthodontic work so young, I consulted a few different orthodontists in the area, and Dr. Khan was the ONLY one that didn't rush me into making a decision to start orthodontic work immediately on my 7 year old. In fact, he suggested that we wait another year and re-evaluate after my son had another year of growth and maturity. I truly appreciated Dr. Khan's honesty with me, and he earned a new patient that day because of it. Fast forward to 2018, and after consulting with Dr. Khan, we decided to begin the process of phase 1 orthodontics. We started with an expander to widen my son's palate and then proceeded to phase 1 braces. One thing that stood out to me during the process was the way Dr. Khan respected my son as the patient. At every visit, he was sure to explain the process to both my son and me, creating a great sense of comfort and trust with my son. We kept the phase 1 braces on for about 6-12 months, and my son has been in a retainer since. He has had very little discomfort and pain from the experience, which is a miracle if you know anything about young children - and I attribute that to the amazing practice that Dr. Khan runs. As a side note, they also offer little incentives for their young patients to keep them motivated which is great (e.g. Khan coins which they collect at every visit and can redeem for toys). Dr. Khan has recommended holding off on phase 2 orthodontics until my son (now 10) has a little more skeletal growth. He is in no rush to get our money, unlike a lot of other practices in the area. He is very knowledgeable about the industry and has built my confidence throughout this entire process. Whenever we have had any issues, whether it be wires coming out during the braces phase or a retainer breaking, Dr. Khan and his staff have handled the issues with the utmost professionalism, promptness, and respect. His staff is also amazing. They are extremely responsive and accommodating. They are prompt in getting us seen, even on their busiest days the wait time is never more than 10-15 minutes. I will continue to recommend Dr. Khan time and time again whenever I see anyone looking for orthodontist recommendations. We feel very blessed to have found such a great orthodontist!

I am very impressed with the hygienist at this location. After getting her teeth cleaned, the dentist closed her fillings. My mom was very pleased with the work. She was so thankful that this office was not trying to sell her on things that she did not need to get done. While they did mention her need for a crown, they did not sell her on any ancillary charges or bogus treatments for her teeth. My mom hates going to the dentist. One thing they don't tell you about orthodontics is that your face shape changes! My face got more narrow and my jaw became a little smaller. I was very pleased seeing the before and after. I recommend Invisalign even if your teeth appear straight because bite changes will result in structural face changes as well! The office is well staffed, emails are replied to quickly, and Dr. Tabakman is very thorough and comes up with a good plan. He will tell you how much time you need and as with all Invisalign providers, there are always refinements. This is not a negative to the office, but it is the drawback to using Invisalign since the trays are predicted 24 months in advance. Your teeth are stronger than the plastic trays so don't expect it to perfectly match to the forecast or what the trays look like! Houston Orthodontic Specialists has good discounts depending on the time of the year. In 2021, I paid 4.5k for 24 months of Invisalign (refiners extended it by 6 months, with no charge). It came with a retainer included in the package.
