Title: Overbilled and Mismanaged Probate Case…read more I hired the Law Office of Bryan Fagan for a simple, uncontested probate. I was originally quoted approximately $4,500. However, I was later billed over $6,500, and the firm acknowledged internally that $875 should have been credited back to me due to errors made on their side. That credit was never applied. The paralegal assigned to my case left the firm, and I was not notified. During this time, my case did not move forward and important documents were not filed. When I raised concerns, communication became inconsistent, and I later discovered I was being billed for internal "strategy meetings" that were only needed due to the firm's own mistakes. I eventually had to terminate the representation and seek new counsel to complete the probate. I have requested that the firm honor the credit they documented but have not received it. I am currently pursuing resolution through the State Bar and CAAP. My experience was stressful and expensive. I recommend asking very detailed questions about billing practices and follow-up procedures before hiring this firm for probate work.

Estate planning and elder law aren't just about legal documents--they're about protecting what matters most, and Daniel gets that. He's incredibly knowledgeable, taking the time to walk clients through the complexities of planning for the future with patience and clarity. More than that, he brings a level of care and professionalism that's rare. I've seen firsthand how he listens, ensuring that every client feels heard and understood. Beyond his expertise, Daniel is just a genuinely great person--approachable, friendly, and, as a fellow dog lover, someone who clearly values loyalty and trust in both life and work. If you need someone who will advocate for you and your loved ones with skill and integrity, Daniel is your guy. Highly recommend!

Thanks Mr Marquardt for the personal visit with Lexi she always puts your clients at ease. And thank you Mr Palmer for your professional and personable interaction!

We want to make sure we, as spouses, or our children, won't be burdened with legal matters at an extremely emotional time. Attorney Laura Heard, the owner of the firm, did our wills several years ago and we were very pleased! Laura has always put our needs first and has been very informative explaining estate planning. We now realize how important a will is, no matter how many assets you have. As our lives have changed, we've had to updated our wills and we wouldn't think of going anywhere else! Laura and her staff at South Texas Family Law have made us feel more than clients, like family. They're dedicated group of professionals that truly care; something you don't see much in firms today. We will continue to highly recommend Laura Heard and South Texas Law to anyone seeking high quality estate planning, probate, or any of their other family law needs. Thanks Laura!
