Marble everywhere, stunning architecture and a feeling that is hard to put into words. It almost felt like walking into a Harry Potter scene. Beyond how gorgeous it is there is so much to explore. Tons of museum style rooms filled with different artifacts that you can walk through completely free. We eventually made our way to the researcher area to work and study and it was an absolute dream. So many tables, so many chairs and the most beautifully quiet and focused energy. Everyone around you is working on something and that synergy just pulls you right in. We easily spent three hours there working on our business and honestly did not want to leave. The gift shop also has a great coffee spot which is the perfect fuel for a productive session. If you are visiting New York and you love your work as much as you love to travel I highly recommend carving out a few hours here. It is the most inspiring coworking space I have ever been in and I am already dreaming about going back.

Life didn't seem that easy at the time but relative to what my life is now (mortgage, car payment, utility bills, etc,..) I would have much guidance for my younger self. Bobst always seemed to have enough places to hide and get away from everyone and everything. The walls of Bobst always did a great job of masking the chaos right across the street in Washington Square and elsewhere in NYC. That was always Bobst's greatest benefit, a place of solace in this great city which seems impossible. Back in my day, Bobst was also a place of knowledge but these days the Internet has probably taken on greatly some of that responsibility. A recent visit led me to revisit some memories, and aside from some minor alterations, the heart of Bobst still lives on.

You'll often see protests happening right inside the library, especially since the atrium is huge - very cool! There are no other nearby libraries that are open 24/7 for students, with security guards helping to find you a sleeping space @ LL-1 in case you needed it (check out near where the lockers/classrooms are @ LL-1). One of the guards would always announce over speaker "Good night" in 15 different languages and go out of his way to genuinely look out for every student's safety and wellbeing. Someday I will find these people and feed them some home-baked cookies as a thank you! Cons: - There is a TON of theft every day, so make sure to take your backpack/laptop with you wherever you go... even if you are leaving for 2 seconds to use the restroom. - Usually quite cold, so bring extra sweaters. - Stay away from the 8th and 9th floors, unless you wanna hear screaming couples getting busy in the individual rooms. - You might find dead bodies of huge flying cockroaches @ LL-1. - Sad that there were multiple suicides inside this building, but I'm glad that they were able to renovate the building with gates on all floors to be safer for all. The one thing I value besides the books is the kiddie area. It's is phenomenal and Jay is amazing as well. Jay keeps it clean and organize. Jay plays with the kids and he has value conversations with them as well. Jay does a baby group which I go to with my 15 month old daughter she loves it. At baby group Jay does songs, music and art time before the library is open to the public on Thursdays. (That's jay in the blue shirt) I enjoy the library and all jay does for the kids.

The crowd is exactly the same as it's at any free venue with seats and restrooms though I saw some students with laptops. A quick glance - overall the selection is pretty scarce. But thanks to one of those travel guides (there's a whole shelf) my vacation trip was very enjoyable.

You walk one level and you will see the library. The street level is one more level up. If you are coming from the downtown platform you will have to exit the street and walk back down to this entrance. The plus side is that they have free WiFi and laptops to loan. It is also laptop friendly with electrical outlets. The downside is that there is no bathroom for the public to use. They have one in the back if you can convince the librarians to let you use it. Starbucks is at street level if you really need to go. Its a small library but good if you want to return your books and not go out into the street. You will have exit the Subway turnstile to get to the library, good if you got an unlimited metrocard.

Clean and welcoming environment. In the 2015 digital age era, sadly, no one value traditional libraries and books but I am unique and still patronize libraries. Information is power and knowledge is rooted in books. Come book worm hungry. From now until it is now again as my library card expiration of three year draws near, renewal was simple and quick. Note: NYPL library card is valid for three years which all library card holders must renew in person.

It was pure coincidence that Jamie W and I came here on the same visit to NYC in which we saw the…read morebrilliant revival of "Ragtime" at Lincoln Center. The Morgan Library is the setting for the bullet-ridden plot climax, and one of the characters even describes the building's architectural fortitude. I had been wanting to come here for some time, but it took drizzly weather to motivate us to take action. Completed in 1906 as the private library of the banker J.P. Morgan, it's on Madison just a few blocks from the other Gilded Age masterpieces, the New York Public Library and Grand Central Terminal. Presuming we would see the foreboding double doors Coalhouse Walker faced in the show, we were pleasantly surprised by the openness of the glass-enclosed central court designed by Renzo Piano. There's a cafe that takes advantage of the incoming light, but we took a pass on it since we just ate at Grand Brasserie. Instead we took advantage of the glass elevator to take us to the photographic exhibition of Peter Hujar, the late artist who captured New York's bohemian and queer scenes through striking black-and-white portraits (Photo 6). The main event, however, is the historic McKim Building: It was the original private library, and in typical grandeur, features three stories of tiered, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, magnificent fireplaces, ornate ceilings, and a gorgeous Rotunda (Photo 5). Morgan's study is the West Room with walls covered in rich red damask (Photo 4) and a vault dedicated to his most valuable books, manuscripts, and art objects (Photo 8). Admission is $25 for adults.
