Frankfort, KY surprised me with the most perfect bakery I have walked into in a long, long, time. B's Bakery. They bake on site. The shop has a very cute shabby chic cottage vibe we rolled in around 8:30 am and the items that I selected were still warm. So freshly made. They have variety. They have the quality And they have the perfect price point that doesn't leave a hole in your pocket. Service was fine. Apple cake was delicious!! Wedding cake petit overly sweet, just okay. Cinnamon roll looked great but was mediocre and lacking. Everything is presented beautifully and entices you to want to try multiple things. Would have liked bakery presented items to be labeled in case. I got the sprinkle donut , chocolate donut and the coconut donut! They were huge which is a good thing to me ! Lol but I dint really find it soft fluffy but did taste good thou ! Travelling through Frankfort on my way to Virginia and stopped inside this quaint and cozy bakery. As I was waiting my turn the bakers kept bringing out more delicious treats to put in the display case. It's October so some of their seasonal offerings were a pumpkin streusel cake, and a beautifully decorated scarecrow cookie. Some of the other items included pimento cheese biscuits with bacon, bourbon bacon biscuits, berry streusel doughnut, croissants with cheese/bacon, cherry turnovers, several other doughnuts, petit fours, cookies, cupcakes, and a few lunch sandwiches available for take-away. I still pick this place as the best place to get donuts in Frankfort, but you'll be paying quite a bit for it. I went in there to see what their specialty donuts were for the day and they had a white chocolate glazed with peanut drizzle, and the other was a chocolate glazed with caramel & marshmallow drizzle with brownie bites donut. I did have a fun conversation with the person behind the counter about giant cream horns as they had a slightly bigger than average cream horn for sale there. They have me a small box with a doily inside (I've never had donuts this fancy!) with the donuts on top and they are giant donuts that you'll have to stretch your mouth to bite, so you'll get your money's worth. They were both very delicious and the brownie bites were fresh. I can't complain about these donuts, they were excellent! read more

Good things come in a small white bag marked with a b! Today, I tried the Guinness Beef Stew. It was very rich, full of flavor, and filling. I finished off my meal with a lemon bar. These are my absolute favorite. The crumble on top makes this for me. I'm a huge shortbread fan. read more

This is a local business which is open on Thursday thru Saturdays. My wife loves pastries so on Thursday mornings I pick up some for her. The cinnamon rolls are huge. They are so large they do not fit in the bags they give you. The flavor of them is not super strong. I would liken them to a coffee cake type treat. (eg good for dipping in or eating with coffee or to cleanse your palate). My wife LOVES their creame horns. I get them now for her every time I am in Frankfort on a Thursday. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is upbeat and enjoyable. I like to stop by here then head on over to Kentucky Coffeetree Coffeehouse which is just around the corner and get some coffee to go with the pastries. They may have coffee at Bs I have never purchased any if they do. Everytime I go in I request homemade bread. I have not seen any there but I bet money if they did it would be good. This establishment is conveniently located on Main St. Just around the corner from the Franklin District Court and clerks office. I LOVE b's bakery. Those oatmeal raisin cookies are so good. So are the decorated sugar cookies. They look so cute, and they taste great. And the chicken noodle soup is yummy. Even the doggie treat cookies LOOK great. I haven't eaten any, but every dog I've bought them for has gobbled them down! I've saved the best for last. B's chicken salad is divine. Oh,my! Sometimes I get it on a croissant; sometimes I just get chicken salad and eat it with crackers. It has pecans and red grapes, but it's the dressing I love. I think it's curry mayonnaise. Excellent bakery for cinamin rolls, doughnuts, and breakfast pastries. They have a lunch menu of sandwiches and panini. Cookies and other desert confections complete the menu. There are only four or five tables, but most people appear to carry out. They have bags with yesterday's items. My wife and I visited Bs today while in Frankfort for a day trip. The store is very quaint and uniquely decorated. We bought two doughnuts each. They were very tasty, yeasty, and not too sweet. However, there were no prices posted anywhere we could find. Our 4 doughnuts cost a little over $6. I have no idea if that divided evenly or if some were more expensive than others. Also, we would have bought some coffee but, once again, no signage could be found. So overall, the food was great, but especially for non-regulars, signs are needed. read more

Wonderful bakery with charming decor. A word to the wise, they no longer sell doggie treats, that was our biggest disappointment. No scones today either but the ham and cheese croissant was a suitable replacement. Hubby enjoyed the chocolate eclairs. There is a cooler with a limited selection of cold sodas in cans and other drinks. As noticed by others, there are no prices or menu posted. Nothing in the display case is labeled either. Worst attitude and treatment I have ever encountered from a Frankfort business owner. Cakes and cookies from this bakery are just ok. The best product is the creme horns. During Covid we made a good number of purchases from this bakery trying to help a local business. A week prior to a birthday party for a family member I had placed an order for a large number of mini creme horns in lieu of a birthday cake. At the time I placed the order, the bakery assigned me a pickup time of 1:00 on that particular Saturday. I received a phone call at 11:10 am and was told I needed to get there to pick up my order by 11:30 as they were closing for the day. I was alarmed as I needed this order for the birthday party and I wasn't sure I could get there in that timeframe. I began asking the girl on the phone what I should do if I could not get there in that timeframe. She told me if I knocked on the door they might still be around. At that point, the owner came on the phone and began yelling at me and told me "I have bent over backwards to serve this community during the Covid shutdown and nobody is going to tell me how to run my business." I had never raised my voice. I was merely asking how I could get my order and was met with her anger and wrath. Excuse me..but this community (my family included) bent over backwards to help her business during Covid shutdown and she just lost my business as well as a number of family members and friends. Frankfort Downtown can get very limiting in terms of quick lunch food and you may feel Subway might be your only option for a quick bite. But wait, right across the street from Subway is B's Bakery! Strongly urge everyone to visit this place. I have tried their Cuban Pork Ham Swiss and Buffalo Chicken Panini and loved it completely. Instead of doing their paninis of flatbreads, they do on these thick Sandwich Loaves which I quite enjoyed. This was a best donut, cinnamon sugar with a caramel drizzle, that I have had for a long time. The donut was nice and large and I only needed one to satisfy me. B's opens at 5:30 and there was plenty of selection by the time I arrived At 7:00. I was able to easily park on the street just outside the shop on a Monday. My husband got some kind of cream filled donut bar that was absolutely phenomenal! Only reason this isn't a 5 star review was the lack of seating. They have seating but it's all repurposed old chairs that are VERY delicate. I was afraid I was going to break them! Also, while it did look like you could ask for a cup of coffee (I saw a pot in back), it wasn't obvious that you could order one. But, I'd definitely return for some sweet treats.
