Ted and I went to look at my car and had a long conversation about my car and my concerns. we then went for a ride so i could show him exactly what i was experiencing. He picked up on a few problems right out of the gate. after our test ride we opened up the hood and Ted spent another 30 minutes looking over my car and explaining so much to me that I was not knowledgeable about. I brought it in for a new clutch job and a standard oil change. I spoke to Ted about doing a complete vehicle inspection and updating the things that were most important. I gave him the go ahead to go through the entire car and put a list together to address his biggest concerns. Two days later I received a phone call from Ted himself. he very thoroughly explained what he found with the car that should be replaced at this time. We also talked about budget. He was very concerned to let me know what things were going to cost, so there were no surprises at the end. I gave him to go ahead to fix everything that he thought needed to be fixed. This review is for those new to the area and/or looking for a new speed shop. I was just in that…read moreposition, and if you're anything like me you'll know half of looking for a shop is finding one that you can trust to do work on your sports car to the same level of trust you would have doing it yourself. Jannetty Racing Enterprises (JRE) recently did work on my modified C7 Z06 corvette. While it was just an alignment and tires, they did more than a great job. Even though tires and alignment seems routine, you may know that it's actually not for sports cars with wide low profile tires and in fact is how I found Jannetty Racing. I called Hunter Engineering (maker of top-of-the-line automotive shop equipment). Jannetty is one of the very few shops in the area that have both Hunter revolution (for "touchless" mounting") and Hunter roadforce (for high-speed balancing along different force/load conditions). They can handle Z06 and Viper-width tires with ease. After putting my new wheels/tires through the paces I can say this is probably the best tire job I've ever had. Even the wheel/tire package I got from tire rack online w/ the same mount and roadforce is not as smooth. The alignment proved a similar experience. Tony is the type of gentleman you hope to have straightening out your car. He's been doing it as many years as I've been alive, so talking with him was like talking with a old-school master craftsmen. He found a somewhat hard to diagnose reason for my rear cross camber being out of wack, with one side having basically a track-like camber degree while the other side more in spec. Taking care of that, he got the camber, toe, and caster all dialed in perfectly. The car tracks straight, doesn't tramline anymore, and doesn't kick under wheel spin. Outside of what was worked on, they have a large team that is clearly passionate about cars. From the moment you talked to their team on the phone, you know you are talking with folks that know the in's and out's. Ted took time to talk cars and share his thoughts on my car and related cars - only found out later he was the owner of JRE. Give Jannetty Racing some consideration since their Yelp rating is artificially low on here (their Google rating is higher, but I wanted to post my review here for that reason). Many dealers will need to have a specialized person (in my case a Chevy Vette tech) to do much of what it seems pretty much anyone at Jannetty can do. Their prices are about what dealers may charge, but if you're reading this, you're probably not bringing in your run-of-the-mill high-volume econobox cars that dealers are best setup for. Went to Hamlin and Sons for first time service today.. thought i had a starter problem;…read moreneeded replacement, but they worked hard and checked, Starter appeared fine but cable bolt was totally corroded. Any other service shop would have just replaced starter and charged me an extra $700.00 but Hamlin and Sons tried something different, carefully disassembled cable, cleaned post and voila, starter repaired. They were great and worked hard to really find the problem not just replace. I will always bring my vehicle to them.... THEY CARE!!!!

We managed to limp the car home. Having been to Skytop a number of years back and happy with the service and pricing I decided to go back there even having been told by others not to and that they're very shady over there. I should have listened. We get home and I schedule an appointment for their earliest time slot which was about 5 days away. I explain what the issue was to the girl on the phone and she said basically no problem and would I need a tow? I thought I would so I said yes. Asked about the price and she gave me a tow price of $150 for only a couple miles town in town. We decided against it the day of the schedule. We get the car there. Drop it off and talk to another girl. Maybe the same one? She takes some more info and I talk about the tranny again. She takes down some notes. I then ask if they can take a look at the tire. One tire has a slow leak. She said well we can look at it but they don't do tire repair and to take it to another shop. Um... what? So whatever. We leave and she advised if they don't get to it today it will be the first one tomorrow morning. Ok fine. The next morning I receive a text message with a laughable inspection report. Regarding the transmission... "Possible transmission work needed - Take to a transmission shop." So naturally I call and question this. The girl on the phone said she can't help and quickly transferred me to the service department where another girl answered. I asked her to explain and she advised that their transmission guy left about a year ago and they no longer work on transmissions. UM SO WHY DID YOU TAKE THE CAR AND WASTE MY TIME?! Obviously at this point I'm prepping to go get the car and take it somewhere else. In the process of making those plans I get a text message from someone blaming me and telling me I was told on the initial call that they couldn't promise they could work on it but that they may have someone that could do the job.... yeah no thank you. Something's not quite right and since I was told they don't do transmission work I can't trust this. Who's this person that they may or may not know that may or may not be available for service? How is that anyway to treat a customer???? Naturally at this point I'm frustrated. So I declined and went and picked up the car. Never again with Skytop! I wouldn't have my lawnmower serviced there.
